How many pairs of sunglasses have this fox?
>>5372740
So, anyone want to talk about fanfics? Any that you think are underrated, not really known, or just weird as hell?
>>5372757
I'm more bothered that in the movie the sunglasses are never placed correctly. What is holding them still on his head?
>>5372883
I've ranted about this before in various places, but I just can't get into The Fox and the Rabbit. I find the pacing fucked by the fact that the author had ten good ideas they pressed into one fic instead of giving each its own fic.
In unrelated news, writing is hard and editing sucks.
>>5371879
You win!
I'm in the mood to write something short today. Everyone keep your ideas for next time!
>Bogo looked nervously from inside the APC.
>The plan was solid, but it was things he doesn't know about that worries him.
>He watched from the safety of his vehicle, controlling a remote drone as Clawhauser kept an eye on every member's helmet camera through monitors across from Bogo.
>"Officers, report in!" barked Bogo as he turned on the drone, launching it from the roof of his special APC.
>"Rhinowitz, here!"
>"McHorn, ready!
>"Ivanoi, ready!"
>"Hopps, in position!"
>"Wilde here, with Hopps."
>Bogo watches over the Grey Bakery as Rhinowitz and Ivanoi wait at the main entrence, McHorn covering the back entrence by himself.
>Judy and Nick wait by a cellar door as Clawhauser turns to Bogo to say "All cameras are on, we have green light!"
>Bogo smiles as he says "Good... everyone, you are clear to proceed!"
>Rhinowitz knocks on the door was Judy picks the lock on the cellar door.
>McHorn wedges the backdoor and waits on standby.
>" A pudgy fox opens the main door, greeting the fully-kitted rhino out with a smile. "Howdy feller, I'm sorry ta disappoint ya, but my store is closed today! If ya loo-"
>He was interrupted by Rhiowitz, pulling out a piece of paper. "I have here a warrant to search these premises on the multiple reports of noise disturbances, more specifically screaming and loud construction noises."
>Gideon lowered his ears as he looked up at Rhinowitz. "Ah, ah haven't heard nune ah that but you're free to look around if you want!" he offered as he went behind his counter and pulled out a pie. "Any of ya boys hungeh?" he asked with an innocent smile, placing the pie onto the closest table gingerly.
>"No thanks." said Rhinowitz as he turned to Ivanoi.
>The other rhino, Ivanoi, said "We're not here to have pies. Maybe if we come back under better circumstances." to the best of his professional ability.

>underrated
Hmm... I don't know any that are underrated because I don't know whether people do or don't like it, but I would say for me that goes to Red Tape: people might not like Canidae's character, but the story she's telling in Red Tape is a fun long form fic with bite sized chapter arcs, and its interesting to see the branching narratives interweave.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/7584187/chapters/17256436
>Not really known
I was really surprised that A Bunny Kit's Tale didn't make more of a splash: the idea of Zootopia's children's stories is a really interesting theme to me, and crossing it into how the stories are told offers a lot of dual narrative opportunities. Not to mention, its just so darn cute and comfy!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/7293157
>weird as hell
Hmm... Honestly, nothing I've seen from the threads are 'weird as hell'...
I've been reading Down in the Dumps, and what I've liked about it is the writing style: the story is fine, but I like the way text is used. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but I like the non conventional way a lot is written. The latest chapter so far has been a bit more miss than hit, IMO: it feels like its returning too much to things its already tried, and its kind of like seeing the same magic trick twice.
The author doesn't visit these threads, though... I don't think... so I'm more comfortable voicing my opinions about it. Still, lots of fun, and the only fic I'm reading from outside the threads!

>>5373374
But computers are easy to build. The only "hard" part is applying thermal paste, and that's assuming you're not using the stock CPU cooler.
>>5372883
>What is holding them still on his head?
Pure smug.
>talk about fanfics?
I personally liked Stretch yourself for tackling the usual Can Judy take the knot? in a nice way, with witty and funny dialogues. I don't know how much is known but also Where you expecting someone else? is nice, especially with the alternative story of having Nick as Judy's landlord. I'm now reading A Moonlight's Stroll, where Nick is the butler of the Hopps family. Nero, I know you visit the threads sometimes, if you're here I say that up until now I'm really enjoying it, good work!

>>5372883
Reception Inception: I did enjoyed the fanfic, the scentplay and all but, dude, you really gotta learn how to use commas.
Also, don't use so many 'and's in a single sentence, ffs.
For example this:
>The look of disbelief remained on his face as he sat down next to her and as they drove out to the field and as they pulled up to the vast field of Nick’s favorite treat.
(Or maybe I'm just being too strict with fanfics in general, oh, Idk)
>>5372757
Those are dollar store tier glasses. My dad buys them by the fist full.
>>5372928
I agree a bit. I keep waiting for more interactions with Nick and Judy, but more stuff just happens around them.
>>5373664
The whole publicity angle is a neat (if incredibly silly angle) and if it had stuck to that, it would have been nice
But then you have Nick's grieving, some shit about going to a bar, visiting in Bunnyburrow
It's all so muddled, the author didn't stick with their original point at all.
>>5373241
Oh shit, you're right, I didn't notice it but it's here.
Zootopia is a story about how Affirmative action can actually lead to increased racial tensions.

>>5372928
Personally I started to get turned off by Nick's strange, overdramatic realization that he liked Judy after the concert. From there it went downhill of everything feeling like a slog. Though that might just be me that I don't particularly like pure romance stories where it is full fluff, there has to be ups and downs and an actual solid story along with it.
>>5373325
I personally never read Red Tape, but I might give it a try. A Bunny Kit's Tale was something really interesting when I read it, for the reasons you put. It might have been bigger if there was more chapters to it (say, a fox perspective of the same story, or go into other species). I haven't read the latest chapter of DitD, but I did like where it is going as far as technique was concerned.
>>5373612
You can never be too stricted as long as you give criticism. How else are people suppose to get better?
Personally for me I enjoyed "Morning After", overall it was a decent drama that came from Judy and Nick when Judy freaks out after a drunken night together and kicks Nick out, only to realize her mistake afterward and want to have a civil talk with Nick. Nick was great in this, he was pissed and not just instantly forgiving, especially with how he was kicked out.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/7373422/chapters/16747933
Not sure if underrated or not really known, but 240 Hours has to be a favorite for me now. Attempting to plug up some plot holes the movie leaves as well as go more into what everyone is thinking during the events of the movie was great in a way that the whole thing didn't feel like just a pure novelization.

>Gideon grabs the pie off the table, and he say "AH INSIST!" and then throws it at Ivanoi.
>With a splat, it covers his face. He stands there, unimpressed, until a loud sizzle starting coming from his face.
>Ivanoi's face started to burn as he quickly wiped off the pie, rinning back outside as Rhinowitz stepped forward, kicking his feet at the stout fox, only to miss a she ducked, and then struck at the back of his knee, tripping him onto a table.
>Clawhauser quickly reports the events to Bogo "Chief, Rhinowitz is being attacked and Ivanoi is injured!"
>Bogo slams his fist on the table and he yells "Get that fox!" into his mouthpeice, to which McHorn replies by kicking down the back door without further instruction.
>Wilde shoves Hopps aside and he aims at the wood around the hinges holding the door. With four spent shells, Hopps and Wilde desdcent into the cellar, and Clawhauser instantly loses their signal.
>"Sir! Hopps and Wilde aren't on the map any more, and their camera feeds are completely dark!"
>Bogo grunts, but he silently flies his drone into the cellar, only to instantly lose signal.
>"DAMN IT!" Bogo yells at the top of his lungs as he turns around to the back door.
>"Clawhauser, I'm getting Ivanoi, report if anyhting else starts to happen!"
>Clawhauser nods as he says "Rogere!" and goes back to the cameras.
>Meanwhile, McHorn looks around the bakery, .50 handgun drawn as he listens for anything.
>As he steps over the counter, he can start to hear pitter-patter of feet on tile, and he draws his gun towards the direction of the noise.
>Rhinowitz stands back up, recovering from the double kneedrop he had received from the pudgy fugitive.
>"I'm... I'm ok." he said as he slowly stood up.
>McHorn just smiled from him as he leaned against a wall next to the entrance to a hallway. "I knew that already, you've survived worse!" he said as he keeps an ear out.
>Before Rhinowitz could reply, a metallic scraping sound started to drown out all other noise.

It's an interesting one. Nick is able to gain the acceptance of the junior ranger scouts by debasing himself for them. By the time Zootopia starts, Nick's both very different, and very similar to his canon self. The story both expands on the themes of the movie, and presents an additional, more intimate story of Nick, his issues, and his journey towards a more healthy mental state (although we're not quite there yet).
It's well written, and unlike many psychological works the author doesn't pretend that there's a magic cure for Nick. It's clear that he's always going to carry the scars from what's happened, but also holds out the hope that he can learn to accept himself, manage his issues, and have a happy fulfilling life despite his past.

>Bogo's voice could he heard over the radio.
>"Ivanoi secured, calling medics." he said as Rhinowitz pulls for his handgun, only to discover that his utility belt is completely gone!
>"Fuck!" was his only reply, prompting McHorn to turn to him, and realize his belt was missing.
>He quickly throws Rhinowitz his baton, who gladly accepts it from the air with a quick grab.
>He stacks behind McHorn, as the screeching became louder and louder.
>McHorn looks down the hallway, to see a rather large lion and tiger push the backdoor to an armored vehicle down the hallway, occupying the entire space. Through the rear window, the lion can be seen smiling rather smugly as he holds Rhinowitz's belt.
>"Tha Burrow Predatahs will rahse agin." is all he said as he looked at Rhinowitz straight in the eyes., twirling his handgun like a cowboy as he laughed in his deep voice.
>McHorn started to kick at the door, and upon realizing that the two large predators on the other side won't let it budge, starts to shoot at the glass.
>Every bullet hits and sticks into, but barely penetrates the glass.
>"McHorn here, two more suspects spotted, a lion has Rhinowitz's gear. We need explosives for a barraca-"
>But he was interrupted by static, as the tiger pulls up a home made jamming device made out of an antennae, a car battery, and a pc board attached to the tiger's back.
>The tiger too starts to smile a shit eating grin as they start to laugh from their bellies.
>"Sir!" said Clawhauser in a much more panicked voice. "We lost he remaining signals of our last officers!"
>Bogo kept his attention of Ivanoi as he gave him fresh bandages.
>"Clawhauser! We have a man down, and whatever acid they used is preventing scabbing! Call for backup, NOW!"
>Clawhauser picked up the satellite radio, but got nothing.
>Clawhauser screams as he says "WE'RE BEING JAMMED WE'RE BEING JAMMED-"
>"CLAWHAUSER CALM DOWN!" yelled Bogo as he kept applying first aid.

Smug has no limitations.
Strech Yourself was a great read, if also still strange for me to read because I have no reference to how big a Red Fox actually is in that department. At this point most seem to agree that genitals have probably changed since mammals evolved, but still.
A Moonlight's Stroll is also something I am keeping my eye on. I like the idea of Butler Nick as well as his relationship with an apologic Judy for her years of cruelity.
>>5374613
>i got soul, but i'm not a soldier
Sweet hell, that story would be one I would put in all three categories. The interractions between Nick and Judy is amazing, along with Nick's own inner thoughts. Judy's desire to help him and understand is great, especially the scene with the fox repellent when Nick tears off the labeling.
Another story I'd like to mention is "The Jack Savage Misadventures". Chapter 3 completely sold me on it. The summary for the story honestly shouldn't be "And the worst of it isn't constantly having his life in jeopardy but Judy's sudden interest in the new rabbit." but "that this new rabbit wouldn't leave the fox alone!"

He's suggesting porn. Or more probably incest. The porn isn't a problem, but the incest is.

With less than half an hour to go, now it's all to the lurkers. Noir in the lead, but seeing the gap between themes #2 and #3 is so narrow, anything can happen.
We're entering the final minutes of the poll, so get excited!

Does she have a husband? If she doesn't, did he leave/die?

She should. Her son's a fully grown adult, his father is apparently out of the picture, no reason she shouldn't go and find someone to keep her company.
Maybe a beaver? Not Beav himself, just a regular beaver construction worker.
>>5375551
it's not too late to vote
>>5375551
I have lost all hope in doomposting due to the dearth of foxe incest and bune kit-culling in the last TT. No matter how much we say a TT will be constrained to such a small group of ideas, the CC's will always find someway to spin it around to something truly creative.

>>5375757
Sure. They can't figure out how to make cucking work for Noir so they're voting up the others instead.
>>5375709
If you typed bunny paw pads the photos are actually from cats and dogs paws. Also Wikipedia agrees https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paw
But still it is not such a big problem. The paws on a bunny/no paws on fox reeeeeeeeeee is a meme we use to have fun, especially considering that even Byron, the director of Zootopia, sometimes draws Judy with pads.

>Came back to Hopp's apartment earlier today. Door was locked. Could hear loud noises in there. Landlady was complaining about noise and the smell. Her neighbor's door wasn't that hard to break in. Tried to talk, they would have none of it. Two antelopes will report assault tomorrow. Getting angry. Couldn't get what was going on. Just another Christmas.
>DECEMBER 29, 2018
>Got the last files of the case. Hopp's once again wasn't on her apartment. Went to check on Savage's house. Door was locked as well. Broke in through the back. Could hear both next door when I got inside. Gun on kitchen table. Bottles of wine on the counter. Two blasts. Waited until silent. Door was locked. Unlocking it was easy. Two rabbits on a bed. Smells of sweat and ejaculate. Used protection everywhere. Broken glass on the floor. Doe nuzzling on bucks chest. Reminded of mother with strangers.
>JANUARY 1, 2018
>Two bodies found. First Zootopia's rabbit cop and a rabbit Accountant. Savage cover. ZIA still on the look for who done it. Main suspects are Bearuskya's government and Kemonogatari's spy. Jaw removed and born burned. Was smart to use his own gun. Have to buy new chains. Pipe is still leaking. Had to buy pastor. Shady dude took a while to go down. Judy's still inconsolable.

Date - an edible fruit from a date palm (egypt here we come)
Date - a Japanese feudal clan from the Sengoku period
Let's go play Total War Nipponese Mammals with this TT, anon

I actually wasn't going to participate if it was noir or military since it's something I can't personally work well with.
I think date night was the only one I voted for that was even in the running.

I doubt they would let them go, just put them somewhere where Awooooooooooooing won't get them in trouble. Food still needs to be cooked, armaments need maintenance, clothes need to be washed etc etc.
Would be very disheartening though.

>As Judy and Nick explored the cellar, they could only see baking goods.
>So far, there was nothing out of the ordinary.
>Except maybe for the size of the cellar itself. It was unnaturally huge.
>There was a set of stairs leading upward. and behind them was a ladder leading back up to the surface.
>"Carrots, are basements usually this big here?" asked Nick as he searched through the hundreds of hundreds of shelves.
>"First off, it's cal-"
>They soon hear the sound of a drone follow them, and then stop as soon as it enters the cellar.
>Nick walks up and he snatches the drone out of the air, noticing nothing a lack of responses.
>"Bogo, come in!" said Judy, but only got static..
>"Chief buffalo-butt!" said Nick, after a few seconds of silence.
>Nothing.
>"We're on our own." Nick said as he hoooks his radio back onto his belt, reloading his spent shells from their forced entrance.
>Judy pulls out her SMG, and she readies her gun.
>They hear a panicked running, and the tapping of claws against tile as they see Gideon run by.
>"Gideon?!" she exclaimed as she aimed her gun at him. "Put your hands up!" she quickly demanded as Nick kept his gun at the ready, being Judy's extra eyes and ears.
>"Ju-Judy! It's not as you think!" Gideon begged as he got on his hands and knees quickly. "The-the-these guys jus came een!" he begged as he looked into Judy's eyes.
>However, a ion and tiger pair emerge from behind a large door. "You ah-k, boss?" asked the tiger as he looked at Gideon, and then the two officers holding him still. He quickly ducks his head back in and loud hollering could be heard.
>Nick yelled "HEY! Freeze, asshole!" but then Judy took after them, and Nick quickly readied his gun at GIdeon.
>"Damn it, Fluff!" said Nick as Judy made a line for the door.
>She quickly jumped backwards as she sees a giant plated van door emerge from the large door the tiger peeked his head from behind.
>On the other side of the door was the tiger and his friend, a scraggly lion.

This reminds me of something that's been bugging me.
I know there are no non-mammals in Zootopia, but do other nations consist of non-mammals? I ask because Gazelle mentions birds, and while normally I'd go 'it's just a song' it's a song that exists in the movie's canon proper.
And if birds/lizards/fish AREN'T a civilized species, why don't preds just eat them instead?

like you wouldn't stuff a badger just to make him happy?
>>5378042
I guess as a person who thinks bugs are adorable I can't relate to that line of reasoning, but it's possible.
I just think it's wasting the animals as either a resource or a plot device. Outside of the movie proper of course. In the movie it doesn't need to be explained.
It's just something I think is interesting. Either going from an apologist 'birds/fish are intelligent!' stance or imagining there's a nation of lizards on the other side of the planet.
>>5378073
It's possible, but I just think it'd be neat to know. Not that we really can.

>As Judy chased the two large suspects, Nick approached Gideon.
>As soon as Nick took his cuffs out, however, Gideon swung an arm up and grabbed Nick's gun, pulling it from his grasp, then thrusts hte butt into his muzzle.
>Nick falls backward as he says "Go after them, I got fatso here!" and Judy nods, turning to chase the pair, who were already upstairs.
>Nick wasted no time getting into a fighting stance, and kicking at Gideon's leg quickly.
>Gideon just rebounded back, and then lunge kicked at Nick, knocking the wind out of him.
>Judy stopped to turn around to see Gideon on top of a winded Nick, holding his gut.
>"Cheese and crackers, Nick, you learned how to fight bigger mammals!"
>Nick just grunted as Gideon lifted Nick, and threw him at Judy.
>Judy just ducked under him, and she was quickly into sparring mode.
>Nick used the nearby shelving to stand up as he clutched at his chest, gasping for air before rushing back in to help Judy.
>Gideon grabbed Judy by her slung gun, and he swung her into the charging fox, sending them both recoiling backwards.
>As they get up, they see Gideon training the weapon on them both, prompting them to raise their hands.
>"Ah don' wan ta have ta shoot ya, Judy." he says as he aims at her.
>"Take off ya armor an belt with ya toys on it."
>"Listen cree-" says Nick, but a single po p is heard from the SMG, and Nick recoils back, gripping the side of his ribs.
>"NICK!!" Judy called out, but then stops when Gideon trains the weapon back at her.
>"I'll... I'll be fine, Fluff." Nick says as he reaches for the medkit on his vest, taking it off to dig into his supplies.
>"Now... ah want ya ta strip ya armor." said Gideon, a lot more forceful as he watches her take it off.
>"I wan ta say somethin." he said as Judy started to take off her helmet, and then vest.

That's a pretty interesting prospect. I'd imagine fish would be the least likely to be sentient, or at least aren't a civilization that can coexist with land ones.
>Fish are a canon food source.
I must have missed this. Can I have a source on it?
>>5378136
>a nation of lizards on the other side of the planet.
This is a concept is anathema to Zootopia. It simply breaks the setting because it does not jive with its core theme of bias, and how it affects everyone, even in an integrated society. The instant you try to introduce some "foreigners" to the setting, it brings that theme to a baser state. It's now an "us versus them" paradigm, rather than "us versus us," which is much more compelling.
>>5376715
>no donk and moped REEEEing in reaction to this

>>5378073
>I'm willing to bet chicken is a staple source of protein for predators.
I've got a mind that eating birds is socially contentious because it's getting pretty close to the "real thing", as it were.
I mean, bugs are bugs, and fish are weird alien critters that live in water, but birds are getting awfully close to home to prey eyes, even if they aren't sapient.
>>5378331
I was asking from a curiousity point. I was wondering where birds came into play in the world is all. Not trying to ruin the setting. Just trying to understand where birds apply.
I'm also not trying to encourage 'making a lizard/bird' character. Just trying to figure out what birds are in the world of zootopia: random animals, food, people, etc.

Thanks. I already knew they ate bugs though.
>>5378632
I remember in the design book or whatever it states that they planned to have different cities of different animals, specifically reptiles and birds. In the movies, they never shown either, or even made mentions to either, not even eggs (I think fish isn't ever mentioned, either). They completely wiped the existence of those and the reason was, IIRC, that they thought might want to use it on the future, but didn't want to dilute the message of the movie with what >>5378331 pointed out.
Even >>5378431 shows that there is blubber being sold, meaning water mammals may actually be food.
>>5378735
Yeah, I agree with >>5378331 that it's good that they didn't add them. If they're gonna do something with them in the future (regardless of what), that's awesome! If not that's also fine.
I was mostly just wondering about gazelle and her talking about birds, and if there was any consensus on it.
