My biggest complaint about Pack Street is how much it stretches suspension of disbelief. There's a concept in writing where you get one thing that stretches credulity, sometimes called the "unicorn in the garden". The basic idea behind it is that readers can accept any one thing in a setting, no matter how incredulous it is or how mundane the setting is. Any more than that lowers the quality of the story. The unicorn itself can be anything. Insane leaps of logic, unexplained supernatural phenomena, or contrived coincidences all count.
Now, the problem with Pack Street is that it has too many unicorns. Avo's "snarky" trope personality is one. But Remmy's unexplained entry into the segregated neighborhood made up of predatory animals doesn't necessarily need to be explained if it's just used as a plot device to set up the story. Velvet's presence around the apartment doesn't require a reason if it's purpose is to be mysterious or spooky. Nearly every character Remmy encounters harboring anti-prey rhetoric in some way or another can easily just be a way to show the reality of what such a divide can create. Every resident's nomenclature consisting solely of punny animal names can highlight that Remmy can't escape from his origins as a character inspired by a Disney movie.
Any one of them can make the story better by inserting it in. Including all of them, among other things I didn't mention, doesn't. The garden gets too crowded because of it. The reader is asked to accept too much stuff blindly and it completely ruins any sense of immersion and defies belief.
