I like drawing maps of places that don't exist and imagine what it's like living there.
>>5296531
Me too anon.
It's nice and comfy.
Do you have more?
I always imagine I live on some remote place on those maps
>>5296561
I usually draw them and then delete them, because I don't have any use besides the moment I draw them and start imaging the history, geography, climate, the people, the animals, etc. So they are mostly just for me to relax and let my mind go somewhere else.
Sometimes I think of how I would fit in those unknown "universes."
You should post yours.
>>5296588
Well I kinda do that on paper when I'm bored, so I have nothing to show that is on my computer at the moment but I empatize.
That's kinda why I loved the random map generator from Dwarf Fortress
>>5296626
I used to draw a LOT when I was younger, but abandoned it when I figured it wouldn't have a monetary future. Nowadays I just doodle maps and random stuff on my tablet. I figured I would post here and maybe someone would like.
I did experiment with modded Minecraft and world generation a few years ago, and I had a lot of fun exploring all the weird shaped world it generated.
Lurking.
>>5296685
Do you imagine those world like a RPG map or something? Pic related
Yeah, making money with art is though stuff but at least you still do it.
>>5296754
Yup. I like to think of extreme environments where weird humanoid species evolved to adapt to it, as well as the opposite, for example, weak humanoids who are extremely intelligent but terraformed their world into something more comfortable. I imagine worlds from Judge Dredd, to Avatar, to Blade Runner, to Dune, and everything in between. Sometimes I make some notes in the maps of stuff I imagined, but never saved anything.
These four maps I posted here I made just now when I created the thread.
I imagine there is a permanent massive whirlwind in the middle of the ocean going on, and there are two factions against each other, one in each island.
Is there a proper board to post this sort of thing, or is /trash/ the best place?
>>5296999
Maybe you can try the /qst/ board.
I don't know really, but I like your map, they could be nice for a quest.
>>5297027
I wish I had more dedication to make actual world maps that people could use.
>>5296531
You might enjoy the world building general on /tg/
They're all about that.
>>5296889
Looks a little like Azeroth from Warcraft. Although maybe you could have it be so the two islands were whole before the entire middle Atlantis'd to fuck. Cataclysms like that are cool.
Is there a good tool or application for making fantasy maps with different kinds of terrain and such? I have a rough draft for one that I've been worldbuilding for a long time and I'd love to make a better one.
>>5304776
For very rough drafting, Inkscape is about as good as it gets. But don't expect miracles.
For everything else, your hand and a pen or photoshop (Gimp and/or Inkscape for the poor among us) are still the best bet. Look up Cartographer's Guild for some decent tutorials...
>>5300774
Bredy gud. Are the colors vegetation or biomes?
>>5307020
biomes and theyre rather quick, this was more so of a 40 minute doodle, i'll improve it now with some geographic accidents like moutnains and by adding the pseudo america on the edge of the map
bumping for interest
...
Kek. This thread is still up.

>>5314075
What's your interest?
>>5315001
Bumping again
>>5315001
I was making a RPG and was thinking of how to design the world map
>>5296531
Same. but I also spend a lot of time on languages and place names.
I made a few hand drawn maps of a fictional world I made up a few years ago. I used to love doing this, but for some reason I haven't done it for quite a while.
>>5315001
Do you have any more maps like that one?
>>5315001
Wow this looks comfy af
>tfw I made hundreds of fantasy maps and monsters and weapons as a kid and threw them all away starting around puberty for some inexplicable normie reason
Never recovered from that
>>5331015
ouch
A p.okay map generator
http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~amitp/game-programming/polygon-map-generation/demo.html
Found this on /tg/ the other day.
I remember when I was a kid I used to draw my own Pokemon and Shin Megami Tensei maps, it was so comfy.
>>5296754
Am I the only one who sees south america and straya on this map?
>>5332428
This was all hand drawn? Jesus
>>5332428
I love this image.
