You could try waiting to see if the Tissue Dispenser Book (25 points.) or Jar of Archived Books (60 points.) goes up, and then buy 'em if they do.
Or read 'em to a pet for more intelligence, and also because a pet with enough books read (Hundreds, truth be told.) can get you a trophy. There may be also a high score table for that, if I'm mistaken. Not quite sure, though.

The Altador Cup Wristbands, Altador Cup Pendant Necklace (Both 35 points.), Altador Cup Watch Party Snacks (40 points.), and the Yooyuball Balloon Sculpture (60 points.) are all wearable, so you could also try watching their prices.

Every year, neopets cheating communities would each select a respective team to rig their way to the top. clraik chose Kreludor and codex (for the most part) chose Maraqua. Things would normally play out like every other year with the cheating teams leading with ridiculous scorelines, but both teams started losing terribly after a couple of days and never recovered

Leaving everything at default and clicking compute will give you the most profitable possible set of bets (over time), though your daily bust rate will often be 60-80%. This is what I do because I'm less concerned with daily profits than I am with profits over time.

In the case of pic related, TER is 24.849, which means that if you placed these bets a million times or whatever and the odds never changed, you would expect a return of about 24.8 NP for every 10 NP you bet.

Keep in mind if you do it this way, it's best to place the bets close to when bets are closed, because odds continuously change throughout the day (even after your bets are placed), so those 24.8 TER bets you placed earlier might be 19.5 by the end of the day, and you'd be better off with a different set worth 23.4 or something.

most of those are in the 20-21 TER range. They usually have very low chances of busting, but over enough time you'd be getting less than you would if you bet super risky every day.

You could achieve roughly the same thing with the calculator by giving it a high safety factor (pic related is set to 0.5), but as mentioned you're sacrificing returns over time for consistent daily returns.

I believe that happened to me once, actually. If my memory serves, the pet becomes a broken image in Grave Danger, but you still get the item once the time is completed, eaten petpet or not.

That said, I personally, would discard any item I got from Grave Danger with a petpet that got eaten during it, since I wouldn't wanna risk being guilty of "glitch exploitation" or something.

Hopefully the pet owning your petpet for Turmaculus isn't your Battledome Pet; Turmy can give your pet +1 Strength sometimes.

I know that. However, it's not really the norm for Food Club for the gates to close, then re-open with the same round.
Before the lag started changing the time and whatnot, Food Club betting would close at 1:45 PM NST, and the results would be posted at 2:15 PM NST with the new round available to bet on, and not any others.

Well, first off....
Among other mechanics in the Neopets Battledome are how damage is dealt.

1. Icons. There are 7 types, which are functionally the same. The difference is which equipment blocks or deals which icons.
2. HP drain. Weapons that drain HP can't be blocked, however, stat boosts don't apply to them, good or bad.

You can look up the info on weapons on Jelly Neo and Daily Neo's Battlepedia. I use JN, personally, but sometimes DN has info JN doesn't.

What are boosts? On Neopets, you have "boosts" for your attack & defense. These are multipliers; Once attack/defense reaches a certain number (Both stats have the same boost numbers.) that boost will be applied to the stat when assigning/blocking icons.

Now, nowadays, the Battledome is a self-funding "hobby", as well as an NP source.

Different arenas hold different challengers. Arenas have different exclusive items from one another, and challengers have their own exclusive items also.
HOWEVER, all arenas can give out Yellow Codestones, Red Codestones, and the new kind of Bottled Faeries. All good for training, but Red Codestones are for training very high level pets and new Bottled Faeries aren't as valuable.

Since Codestones are the best prizes, you want to be able to consistently beat a challenger who doesn't give out their own/their arena's prizes often, or has very valuable ones.

The shallowest exclusive pools, IMHO, belong to the Maraquan, Virtupets Space Station, and Tyrannian Battledome Arenas.

Continuing on, right now, there's a few main weapons to consider:

1.Cursed Elixir, which you can only equip 1 of, deals 0.3 to 3 physical icons, and drains 20 HP. Fansite info gives it a price estimate of about 59K at least.
From this year's Games Master Challenge, the Dangerous Maraquan Yo-yo: Although it functions a bit odd, it's effective. In addition to blocking icons, IF:
Your current HP is 35 or more below your max HP, AND your opponent has at least 35 HP, it drains 35 HP from them.
It also doesn't take up a healing slot or have a restriction on how many you can equip.
I don't know the details of its functions, but, if it only checks your HP and if the foe has at least 35 HP before draining, it could theoretically be used alongside a 2nd one, or a Cursed Elixir to drain 55 to 70 HP, unblockably in one turn.
However, I'm not sure how that works, or if that will work, but at only 35K, it's worth trying out and training your HP for.

Both are effectively only one use (Unless the CMYY doesn't drain because the HP conditions during that battle.) per battle.

Also, if you have prize points from the Altador Cup, the Yooyu Knuckle Dusters can be bought for 180 points each, and while testing seems incomplete, they attack with 6 to 7 Physical and Light icons, while apparently going for about 55,000 NP on the Shop Wizard.
For comparison, the cheapest 11-iconer is about 10,000 NP, Ylana's Blaster (12.667 icons.) is about 900,000 NP, and a Dr. Sloth's Personal Bath Buddy (14 icons.) is about 1.9 to 2 million NP.

Physical and Light are easy to block, but once you can use Lens Flare (An ability for level 50 & above pets bought with the blessings of the new kinds of Bottled Light Faeries.) you can freeze an opponent once per battle, stopping them from doing anything on their turn.
So yeah, consider some Yooyu Knuckle Dusters.

Lastly, info on the training schools:

The Pirate Academy:
+Gives free training to pets on their species day, and during the birthday of the Neopets website, November 15th.
+Prices are static, and paid with Dubloons, which can be earned in the Maraquan Battledome Arena, and are cheaper than Codestones.
+Lets you cancel a course if you haven't paid yet.
-Only trains pets that are level 40 and under.
-Courses are slower.

Mystery Island Training School:
+Faster courses.
+Trains pets as high as level 250, instead of level 40.
+Like the other schools, lets you train all your stats to twice your level, but ALSO lets you train HP to THREE times your level.
-What codestone(s) (Yellow ones only.) you need for payment are random, and different codestones have different prices.
-You can't cancel courses.

Overall, it may be worth training to at least level 50 for that Lens Flare ability, as well as better stat limits.

Overall, I'd say think about what you plan to do with being in the Battledome. If you're on a very tight budget, and can't afford a Cursed Elixir or such, I'd say try buying a Scroll of Ultranova or 2, as they're very cheap, and deal 9.8 icons in a combination not many items can block effectively.

Also, other training methods:

Ice Cave & Haunted Woods Scratchcards of the 2nd lowest or higher rarity can give a random pet of yours 1 level.
Kitchen Quest, doable, can give a random pet of yours +1 in a random stat. You can do it 10 times per day, but it may give NP and/or items instead of stats.
Coincidence Quests, doable once per day, can give up to +10 in a random stat, or up to -3 to a random stat. With both of these, try not to spend too much.

Considering that the Battleground of the Obelisk is starting when this Wednesday ends, and the Sway can grant the Quest Refresh Boon (Change 1 Faerie Quest to a random different type.) among other options, it may be worth your time to time try it out.

I dunno what you've been doing to help keep her entertained, but when I have a depressed pet, my solution is gambling.

No, really.

You see, thanks to Anchor Management, the price of the Pawkeet Pinata is currently around 230 NP (JN) to 440 NP (NeoCodex).

However, among the 12 items it can give out, are the Dipped Orange Bonbon (Worth close to 50 NP, so it helps make up for the price.) and the Candy Pirate Earrings and the Jelly Bean Pirate Chest.

Those items are rarity 90 & 91, respectively, making 'em gourmet foods, contributing to them being valued at around 2,000 NP right now.

In my experience, it's quite easy to just go and buy a ton of Pawkeet Pinatas off the Shop Wizard, break all of them, and soon have more than enough Earrings and Chests to make up for your investment.
Mind you, each Pinata is always 1 Toy (Largely worthless.) and 1 to 2 food items, which are what you want, because gourmet candies. But the odds are still good.

An easy way for me is to use the BackSpace Key to navigate backwards 1 page while in the item's window, and position the mouse cursor over "Submit", or use the Space Bar.
