Byron has been with his husband since he was a teenager.
Gideon/Travis is the one true Zootopia ship.

There's a picture of the Great Leader in the middle of the line while you're getting your food. If you don't pay respects to it when you pass it, you're arrested on the spot and will more than likely be executed for treason. Same goes for when you sit down and eat; You must thank the great leader for the meals you will be consuming.

>The dark of night had fallen over the city of Zootopia.
>It would seem that it was a night like any other, except this time, it wasn't.
>There were two small mammals congregated in a bomb shelter located deep within the bad part of town.
>A honey badger and a fennec fox, up to no good.
>Their names were Honey and Finnick respectively.
>Normally, they were simple con artists. Fifty dollars here, seventy dollars there; run of the mill.
>Tonight they were planning something much bigger: a grand heist of the ZGM Casino.
>This time they were somewhere in the ballpark of 50 to 70 million.
>If all went as planned that is.
>It was after all, the most sophisticated robbery either of them had ever pulled, and they would be doing it without the help of their silver-tongued fox friend, Nick.

>Honey had laid out the stolen blueprints of the ZGM building. Her and Finnick were studying them under the light of a single overhead bulb.
>"Ok, let's go over this again" said Finnick "We drive the van up to 5th street, park it in an alley, make our way down into the sewers, head north for 6 blocks...."
>"Then we should be right underneath the casino...." continued Honey "We'll lock pick our way into the boiler room, then begin working our way through the ventilation system."
>"We'll have to ascend three stories, and head down this way..." Finnick pointed at a horizontal vent shaft "Then this way, and we'll encounter the package that I placed there a week earlier."
>"How did you get that package there again?"
>"Let's just say that I know some mammals, and I got to stay in the hotel for a couple nights. Lost a couple hundos at the slots..."
>"Well that won't matter after this!"
>"You're right, anyway....the package contains a worker uniform. It's several sizes to big for either of us but just the right size for both of us. I'll have to go on your shoulders."
>"Oh geeez"
>"Shut up, if Nick was here it would fit him, but he's not, so we're gonna have to do it this way. After we're in the uniform, we walk through the hotel, down into the casino, and even further down into the vault containment sector."
>"Aren't they gonna ID us before we can get there?"
>"Got it covered" and Finnick held out an employee ID badge. "I swiped it off some chump when I was there."
>"Ok, so once we're in the vault, we place a detonator here...here....and here...."
>"That's right, and it should all fit under the uniform. This all relies on a critical design flaw in the vault: It's held up by a thin layer of metal directly over the sewers. If we can blow a hole in the floor, we can shove as much money as we can down into them, and the flow will carry it back to where we started."
>"That's fuckin nasty"
>"But it should work."

>They had all the supplies they were going to need: flashlights, suction cups, harnesses, rope, a lock picking kit, the necessary explosives and the wire to detonate them, as well as some firearms just in case things got a little too furry.
>They would be bringing everything with them in backpacks. They themselves were dressed all in black.
>"Ey, Finn, do you ever think that maybe this van is too flashy to be doin crimes with? Like *kkkrrzzk* All ZPD Officers, we are in hot pursuit of a red van with some fruity painting on the side *kkkrrzzk*" she was imitating a walkie talkie and making the motions.
>"Fuck you, that painting ain't fruity"

>They were downtown now, crossing 1st.....2nd....3rd....4th....and finally 5th street.

What does edgy even mean at this point?
She's a police officer. She is authorized to use violence to force compliance in certain situations.
>>3764033
not only that would it be too edgy for her, it wouldn't fit Zootopia relatively peaceful and gentle nature. I understand you're trying to paint it as her being bullied and fighting back?
That rubs be the wrong way, but hey, it's your vision, maybe you'll pull it off or need to release yourself in this way.
>>3764033
some people won't like it regardless, but don't let that put you off if you think it would be an interesting story
>>3764057
>edgy
I concur with one of the anons above - if you're an aspiring writer, forget about this word because it's been reduced to a meaningless bundle of letters which mean nothing.
Discipline your thoughts. What are you asking? Is it too brutal for Zootopia? Out of character? You don't feel you're going for cheap clichés in your story? What are you actually trying to ask?
>>3764057
If she's just beating some poor fuck for shits and giggles then yeah that's stupid, but if some big-ass lion getting booked for speeding refuses to comply and keeps trying to take Judy down, then violence becomes the legitimate solution.
>>3764075
You're probably right. I should just write it. This is my first time writing though and it's incredibly difficult and I'm insecure to boot.

Random idea, but while I know I've seen stuff like role-reversal artwork of Nick being a rookie cop and Judy being the pawpsicle hustler, what about role-reversal artwork like taking this scene and putting Mayor Judy up top while it's Bellwether and Lionheart in the exhibit? Has that happened somewhere before?

>>3764403
I'm glad you've been enjoying them so much Weav, means a lot to me. I just think your work is charming and clever. The Pack Street cast just has a ton of personality to me, I wish I was more of a writer.
Why is drawing zootopia characters so hard, I've been doing nothing but Judy's and Nick's face alone for the past month and they still haven't come out right enough for the character feel. I may be obsessing over getting the design feel right. I really should try to move on to hands or even the bodies.
What do you guys do to stay motivated, but most of all staying positive of your own critical works?
>>3764605

>>3764608
Staying positive is actually the difficult thing for me, hard not to compare yourself to others. Just gotta keep telling yourself that you'll get better.
It also helps to look at your old work and see your improvements, know there is a difference from yesteryou.
>>3764608
>don't be a little bitch
>don't wait for motivation - sit on your ass and work hard every day
>don't draw Nick and Judy 24/7 - you will exhaust yourself and if you drop drawing, we'll probably never see any decent OC you could have created in the future
>challenge yourself - draw things that are uncomfortable to you: paws, bodies, other characters. Draw until they are no longer a problem and you enjoy them
>don't limit your efforts to copying two of your favourite zootopia characters - learn to draw properly, read the books /ic/ sticky (LOOMIS LOOMIS LOOMIS), learn the basics - in that case, you will attain artistic freedom
>solid foundation will allow you to draw whatever you want - copying same snout again will never make you good
I'm also going to dump a couple of tutorials just for you
Practice on these snouts - if they'll look like shit it means you made the first step. It won't look good if all you gave is one try.
Practice twisting them, add different heads, eyebrows and expressions.
>>3764441
oh, okay. These are mostly all accounted for. Good work, weaves.
Remember that picture occasionally posted here?
>Draw some circles
>Draw the rest of the fucking owl
In a nutshell, that's how it works. You won't be able to capture exact shape of Nick's or Judy's head with all details, fur and ears.
You draw circles where these parts should be, then you connect them together, adjust and tweak to make it look natural. Then you do the fine details.
Being able to draw a nice left cheek from the left go won't help if rest of the face looks like a different animal.
Also, post your work.
>>3764605

All these suggestions are great, love these snout references. Although I never was a fan of the oc insanity that these threads have created in all the artist. The circles are nice, I focused on how many heads tall each character was for proportions. I'm confident in that area at least . The guides will be just what i need, I've been using screenshots from the movie, and admittedly some from good drawings of the main characters for reference guide.

>he's an odd pack streeter that doesn't talk
>>3764768
Silly anon, I'll never own up to anything. I'm just posting guides, look at the guides, the guides are amazing.
Practice on paws - they are a bane of pretty much 90% everyone.
Alec did a few tutorials back when he was cool (jk, you're a cool bro guy)
It will depend on the style you will go on with, but before you move onto hyperdetailed super duper paws with fur breaking, if that's how you wil want to roll - nothing is too far away if you work for it, S8's guide is simply amazing for a beginner because the shapes give you a good indication how to place these circles and how the transform into actual paws-shapes.
Screenshots are great, but you need to remember to analyze and "build" the things you draw. Focus on
>proportions - what is the distance between the eyes? How far away ears are from each other? How far they "bend"?
>light - try mapping shadows as just another shape, then just fill the shape in: it's a neat trick to make your art appear 3D and thus more alive
try copying those. And yeah, do you feel comfortable posting what you've drawn so far?
I wish I could art. But I surely can't. I've never even been able to write legibly, and the last time I tried to write at all (Etching letters onto the paper one line at a time like drawing runes or something) it hurt to try for any extended period.
Quiet evening

>>3764845
I can't handle this.
>>3764832
I looked up "100 pushups reference today" and found an article where author was laughing at it.
He said the idea of reaching 100 pushups per day is ridiculous.
Because you will be able to do that many push ups in a relatively short time, but the guide is so stupid because you limit yourself to only 100 pushup per day.
I'll leave you to ponder on this short anecdote while you're busy convincing yourself how you're incapable of something.
>>3764768
Now for the paws - once you've copied Alec's examples, try doing these. Start with circles - they don't have to be accurate, but give you general idea how to proceed. Build them.
Final version will probably look like garbage unless you're very careful. If it does - that's good, admit it, find your mistakes, analyze them, clench your teeth and try again until it looks good.
>>3764846
In this quiet hour, I'm running this show. At least for that one anon.

And the last for today - bodies. To compliment Chumpys' wonderful tutorial, take a look at Disney ref sheet, the notes in here are very useful to get a grasp of things and avoid the mistake of drawing human bodies with animal heads.
Don't just look at the sheet, make connections and smugly nod to yourself you "got it" - draw these delicious flat chests. Human, too, it will help you to understand the difference in proportions easier and build your muscle memory.
I have plenty more, but I need to hustle. See you around, chum!

'Nick Wilde wakes up to another deary morning in Zootopia. With nobody to count on, Nick fumbles through existence without much in the way of hopes and dreams. Yet a random encounter sets off something inside of the fox.'
It's a one-shot set essentially before a previous one-shot. I'm not exactly sure, but in my mind I kind of want to develop this AU of the Zistopia thing where Nick is living a no-Finnick, no-Judy, etc life before finding some comfort later.

But, anyways, thanks dude.

Maybe if you stop trying to regulate OC to what you enjoy and let people have fun, people will stop trying to push you out. You're right, it's just like the movie, but it's more like /co/ and /trash/ denizens being alright with each other, then suddenly /co/ (prey) saying "STOP THIS I DONT LIKE IT" to /trash/ posters (pred).

I felt it. I have an artist I talk to on occasion, and I definitely felt the 'no, you have to redraw this line 50 times' impulse. I'm not sure it's something worth investing in, because I'm not very good at it. Hey, let me dig through my images folder real quick...
Yeah, here we go. Pic related is weaver drawing a remmy. Weaver, how the hell do you even draw lines so smooth and not all shaky and garbage with a mouse? Goddamn.
>>3765193
>doesn't start with paper and pencil

>>3765230
Peh. I've seen my mouse and paper skills. They're even worse. Didn't ask for tips, 'cause I already saved all of the how-to-art guides posted earlier, and used 'em as a ref. Didn't expect it to look like that of a drawfag, either.
The main point of my post is 'this is hard as shit, and I'm making a point to appreciate that'. Our artfags are blessed.
And don't forget to leave 'em smiling
>>3765244
>'this is hard as shit, and I'm making a point to appreciate that'
this is not what you said.
>>3765227
He's been mouse drawing for literally years now, going back from doing Frisk to Toriel to Mangle to Rarity to Applejack to Boxdog and so on.
Just keep doing it.
Take it from a guy that's tried for 17 years.
Sometimes no matter how hard someone tries or how many tutorials they save or how much advice they seek or how many classes they take... No matter what media they use, no matter the programs or hardware... Some people just can't get better at drawing. You're either born with that potential that you can improve over time, or you're not.
Is it shit? Sure. Is it fair? Nope. But it is what it is.
>>3765247

>>3764381
This is the latest thing I have drawn, its not great, but its a damn sight better then my pone. Improvements happen over time, you just have to keep trying.
>>3765254
Probably not, no. I'm not good at words. I guess I'll state it right now:
I'm not intending to bitch about it. I'm just saying it's hard as shit, and I respect the artfags we have for their skill. It's plausable I might get better, but it would take a hell of a lot of work and time.
>>3765238

>>3765175
You can do it mate, don't worry. The way I see it, you're a drawing away to getting to where you want to be.
Mind you, it took me 5 years to get to where I am. I know it must be demotivating hearing about artists telling you how long they've taken. But heck, it's a sheer testament to dedication. I would've quit, I would've stopped on the spot like you.
You can do it mate. Who knows? Someday, you'd say the same thing to someone struggling drawing paws like you are right now.
>>3765278
I don't completely agree with the notion "talent doesn't exist, it's all hard work". It is 99% hard work, but some people do indeed have natural propensity for art, can't deny it.
But I've also seen one anon on /ic/ complaining about how he's not getting any better despite drawing Loomis exercises every day for 9 months straight.
You never know what "clicks" and what works until you
>try everything
For me, I couldn't figure out how to make everything come together until I watched Byron's Judy Hopps tutorial, where he casually mentioned "lines must flow organically" or something of a sort. You never know what little piece of advice will push your brain to allow yourself to do it right.

>>3765227
>Weaver, how the hell do you even draw lines so smooth and not all shaky and garbage with a mouse? Goddamn.
For most of my art career I used a pretty nice, fairly high DPS mouse
It lasted since my early drawhore days, surviving multiple rough and hurried moves between states before, alas, it finally succumbed and died
I kept the dead mouse out of respect for its inredibly long tour of service -- it's a part of my history now, having seen everything from EFG to RubyQuest and even sticking with me until NanQuest finally finished
Ever since then I've been using a crappy $5 mouse I got from officemax or something
That said if you're mouse drawing I STRONGLY suggest looking up a program called LazyNezumi. SAI has an auto-smoother/stabilizer tool but it only works for stylus drawing, while Lazynezumi works with mouse drawing. It's what I use, primarily with the mostly-default setting for "Subtle Pos Smooth"
>>3765323
It's not really demotivating. I pretty much already knew this beforehand. Not super sure I can devote myself to it, anyway... I'm presently in college, and busy trying to find something I can dedicate myself to learning so I can find a job to survive with. Only after I work that out, will I be able to dedicate time to hobbies.
Anyway, didn't mean to stir up so many replies. I just took a shot at it, and wanted to point out how difficult it was to people who haven't even tried to draw. (And it is!)

not s8, but you're right about this one and it really boils down to the question "is it worth it?". That's something only you can answer.

>>3765384
also the more zoomed in you are when you draw generally the smoother the lines -- I draw at 150% zoom in sai, sometimes more depending on scale
and for comparison, here's an image drawn at 100% zoom with no stabilizer
the difference isn't huge, but it's definitely noticeable
you can especially see the little wiggly bits around the rougher curves
with my old, nicer mouse it wouldn't have been such a big change but quality's gone down so I have to adapt

Welcome, we hate you too!

>>3765407
Yeah. Only problem is I have no real motivation towards any marketable skill. (Well, none I can use, thanks to a few issues I have that I don't really want to get into here.) So, that's gonna be difficult, and a priority first and foremost. Art isn't the kind of thing I can picture myself having a career in... Not because it's not a valid career (It absolutely is), but because it's not something I see myself being good enough at.
As heretical as it is, it occurs to me that a story of a human in the Pack Street Bugburga place working for T-Rex told from his perspective and going into detail about the cooking, business management, and stuff would be interesting.
And if I really had my heart on femanon on a Zootopian shipping, he'd be naturally pretty skanky, honestly, and open-minded enough to want to feel up them alien boobs and be blow by that alien mouth after shifts. Maybe to the point that it's a relationship.

I've always worked in Paint.Net, when it comes to editing pictures, for icons and such. I briefly looked at Sai at one point and basically immediately gave up, since it didn't have the one tool I used most in .Net.
>>3765436
>any marketable skill.
it's not about "marketable skill", you basketweaver, because you're not going to make money out of it anyway. It's about creating, artistically expressing yourself, sharing your ideas and self-development.
>>3765418
>>3765425

>>3765439
Why a human? Why not just some prey animal from some single-species small town that's completely new to Zootopia? It'd fill the same niche without being Anon-in-Equestria flavoured heresy.
>>3765454
Not what I meant. I was probably unclear.
No, I didn't mean to imply art was a marketable skill. Art is absolutely a hobby, unless you're pretty much the best. What I was saying was largely unrelated... Basically, I need to sort out my life and find something I'm good enough at to do as a job, and only then should I turn to a hobby like art.
also even though my style hasn't changed, anyone who's actually familiar with my early shit knows it's come a long way
so all these people going "I'll never even draw at Weaver levels", don't be disheartened

Entertainment, that's what's going on.
>>3765575

I've tried every art book I could get my hands on. Every instructional video. Every tutorial. I have seen artists that I love put out "how I draw this" studies. I've taken every art class since middle school and even some years of art school.
I'm going to be 30 this year. After 17 years I am convinced. Completely and utterly convinced that there is just some retarded disconnect between my brain and my drawing hand.
My instructors have seen it. My artist friends have seen it. And it totally sucks.
Every time I close my eyes, I can paint a beautiful picture within my mind. I can see every detail clearly. Every strand of fur, every eyelash, everything.
But when I start to draw a simple circle or square something just goes horribly horribly wrong

Judy giving in to the lure of a casual threesome with two way-larger men right next door is fun as hell. I love Nameless Lewder's stuff of them, it just seems so cozy and happy. It's like the friendliest sex I've ever seen.
I love this idea of this deep, wanton indulgence of such lewdness behind closed doors. Just total debauchery as soon as she gets home.

Do you have any idea why? Depression is scary as hell, I'm just barely crawling out of it as is.

A more recent thing was that I wasn't able to get my dream internship in USA due to some irresponsible spendings by my parents towards our house renovations. It gets worse when they start having conflicts with me for being an ungrateful little shit and would berate me every time they get the chance.
But hey, I've managed to get myself to my school counselor. And after a few family talks and all, we've settled our problems and decided not to kill myself over it.
Still, I do believe I'm heavily depressed and currently am seeking a psychologist. Appointments a few weeks from now.
>>3766082
if you were contemplating killing yourself, it's a fair bet you are in fact heavily depressed. You should just consider that a thing you should start working towards fixing as soon as reasonably possible, instead of just a likely possibility.
>>3766082
oh fuck, that's some heavy stuff. I thought you were just being a little bitch because of some minor stuff, but you seem to be handling everything like a fucking champ.
all the kudos for you to reach out and seek professional help, very few people are brave enough to admit they're depressed, some prodding miserably along their entire lives. Let me know if I can do anything for you.
How do you feel about this?
>>3766082
Okay I'm sure your parents aren't horrible people but hearing about parental problems is one of the few things that can still make me really angry. I hope you got all that sorted proper and it didn't cost you dearly.
>>3766010
Just keep at it. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination take a while to get good at for almost everyone.

I'm really sorry to hear you're in such a shitty place Alec, but it's really great your out seeking help. I'm dysthymic and have depressed episodes fairly often, and it literally took me years to do anything about it. I really hope things work out and you feel better soon, you're fuckin awesome and you deserve to feel fuckin awesome. I consistently love your work and it makes me want to be better.
