Judy Hopps

Taking her place as one of the more influential leaders of the Zootopian Liberation Forces, she became the unofficial face of the rebellion. Due to this, the government set out a bounty for her head. She neared seemingly-unkillable in combat; however, five years into the conflict, the bounty was claimed as the godfather of the Savannah Central Mafia tracked her down and set his dogs after her.

By some god-forsaken luck, they had remained undetected until they were already on her. The local rebel forces that were close enough to respond in time arrived just-in-time to watch Judy, pinned on the ground and struggling against the weight of the wolves on top of her, get executed with a shotgun slug to the head.

Of the few witnesses to her death, Nick was one of them.

After arriving to see Judy get executed, he entered the fray. He recklessly and with rage fueling him, passionately fought the group outnumbering his 3-1. In the ensuing skirmish, he had barely escaped with his life as his lower jaw got torn to shreds by the same shotgun that finished off Judy. Before passing unconscious, Nick watched as Judy’s assailant laid on his back below him, his throat with several deep horizontal slashes, bled out beneath him.

He woke up a week later from a medically-induced sleep, his lower jaw rebuilt with machinery and the latest in cybernetic technology present. Through connection to his nervous system, he can feel and control his new jaw as if he was born with it; however, the unfeeling machinery continued to bother him for many months.

Since the incident, Nick has not been the same. Seemingly unfeeling to those around him, he gradually rose up to a prominent position in the rebel forces. Not as the face nor as the commander, but instead as the lubricant that keeps the gears running behind-the-scenes.

Upon the establishment of the Republic of Zootopia, he was chosen by the acting President of the Republic, to lead one of the several squads that will consist of the Zootopian Special Weapons and Tactics Force.

At the start of the Liberation Conflict, Zootopia had seen the formation of a new party lead by a well-known businessman, Dan Jackson. The State Defense Party (SDP), announced their popular policies of defense and isolation of the city state of Zootopia as global tensions between major powers in the world rose.

Their ideals were well received, and through a slow, but encroaching approach, the SDP had their candidate elected into the position of President of Zootopia as well as gaining majority positions in legislative offices. By year two, citing increasing need for defense, the party increased Zootopia’s military forces and formed a new branch of security with an unknown purpose to the masses. The party broadcasted fear and hope simultaneously, warning of the dangers of foreign alliances, they sought a policy of isolationism and silence in the global community. Unbeknownst to the public, political and government targets started to disappear off the grid.

By year three, it become common knowledge that the party was doing something wrong. Citizens started protesting in the streets at the lack of protection from organized crime in the city, as officers started to patrol the streets less-and-less, and when they did, they turned a blind eye to most crimes.

By then, most of the original forces in the police department were either fired or quit, reasons being cited include inefficient and insubordinate. The chief of the police department, disappeared shortly after trying to combat the government-issued changes to the force.

Protests started to be met with lethal force, leading to the Massacre at City Square. Tens of thousands of citizens protested outside the President’s office, calling for impeachment. They were ordered to disperse by police forces; however, the crowd refused, resulting in a full-scale riot where hundreds were lethally downed and another couple thousand being injured in the ensuing chaos.

Sydney, in the second year of the conflict, started to grow wary of the growing criminal organizations present in the city. She had spent the majority of her time during work hours investigating heavily into the various connections and influences present in the city. Despite orders to cease the investigations, she instead just started doing so off-hours.

As time progressed, she arrived to the office looking more-and-more uncertain and the lack of sleep showed. The office noticed but no official action took place to stop her behavior. She disappeared shortly afterwards.

After seeing the growing tensions in the Zootopia Police Headquarters, she resigned and eventually joined the ranks of the ZLF. She stayed close to the few people she recognized, but as the conflict raged on, the list grew shorter and shorter. She grew close to those she fought with, and after the death of Judy, rose to take her friend’s place.

In the years of combat she faced, she sustained many injuries, but the most scarring of which being during one of her squad’s ambush on a team of patrolling government security forces. Their targets had been caught unaware; however, one of them had been bought enough time to activate a combusting grenade and toss it at Lucy’s squad.

Unluckily for Lucy, she was unable to find cover in time as the grenade exploded in the air, spraying napalm across the right side of her face as well as over a couple of her other squad members.

The right side of her face suffered severe burns and she lost her right eye. After extensive surgery and treatment, she was given a realistic-looking cybernetic replacement for her eye and the fur that covered the right side of her face regrew; however, on her muzzle where the fur is shorter, the scars are still clearly visible.

Present day, she is now the Agency Commander of the Republic of Zootopia’s SWAT Forces.
