You can make this sexual or not but I imagine Judy opens up more. She has more frequent vulnerable, crying moments and Nick has to cheer her up, hold her and tell her things wil be okay. But it doesn't last more than some hours. Once it's over she can laugh and breathe easy; although more prone to being swayed by her emotions, letting it out more frequently helps her get by.

I bet Nick bottles it up. He lets it torment him for days, pretending to be fine. Eventually Judy catches on but knows she can't force it out if him, she just has to be there for him. Finally one night Nick asks to be held. He doesn't sob, but tears gently flow. He needs an entire day of just laying down, dealing with whatever happened, and Judy is there to spoon him and tell him it'll all be ok. It happens a lot less often than the times Judy gets upset, maybe only once a year, but it's devastating.

Personal preference, but I'm always a fan of editing! Writing is rewriting, after all! If you're working on the piece sequentially, I would suggest making edits of cardinal function plot points so that its readable what you're building up to. For instance, if you were writing Cinderella, and then you later decided you wanted to have midnight be when the magic wears off, I'd suggest going back and adding that important point in. However, if you just want to tighten up lines and dialogue and such, that's fine to hold off on.

If it affects the outline, I'd say change it in the piece. If not, and you feel its more important to finish the story before going in and polishing, then just make a note so you don't forget.

This. I always try to make the point that Nick actually WANTED Judy to succeed, even upon their first meeting. He'd never admit it to himself, let alone her, but he probably did. Despite his cynicism he still wants to believe things like a bunny cop can exist. A way to say "fuck this world and it's bigotry." Of course Judy was also an easy mark for a scam and then got in his face, and he had no emotional attachment to not give her the really depressing speech. But later, once he began to see how determined and genuinely kind Judy was, he was able to admit it to himself.
