I think a good example of this is the Sheena thing. Shane saw it as a major affront how RT "wouldn't work with her". But, last thread, a volunteer on the RT website made a journal pointing out she was never affiliated with or employed by RT to begin with. Shane doesn't see it like that at all, since he has a very particular view of things.

As for Sheena, I can see exactly why she was cut out. Having her work on the show off the books doesn't work from a business standpoint, but they also just didn't want - Or couldn't, for whatever reason - Give her an official job.

As for "cutting her off", that's just them being dense assholes. Everyone in the moment says things like "If you ever need anything just call" to a widow, but nobody ever reaches out on their own. Sheena wasn't a real friend to most of the company, she was Monty's wife, so there's just no bond or forced connection, and they drifted apart almost right away.

It's still kind of shitty of them, but I doubt it was a situation like "Fuck this bitch she's gone ASAP".

A lot of the letter showed that Shane, and possibly quite a lot of the "monty crew" or whatever he called it, are really stubborn to how the real world of making a show works. I think the sheer level of creative freedom Monty was given gave them a twisted perspective of what it's like.

Monty was a very respected animator, that's why they let him get away with using Poser or throwing fights together on the fly with no storyboarding. If everybody was okay with it, they wouldn't have decided to change it.

You're acting like as soon as the plug was pulled, Burnie turned around and went "And now we can pull the plug on using Poser, AMIRITE FELLAS!". It shows that Shane only referring to them as "producer" and "ceo" in the letter worked in your case to make RT sound as robotic as possible.

I'd wager RT and Monty clashed on things from the very beginning, but always found a middle ground. Sadly, with Monty gone, the old way wouldn't work purely because only Monty could do it well enough.

Burnie cried on a hilltop as he watched his kids playing in the snow, because he missed his friend. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision, but one that had to be done in order to even slightly keep his dream alive.

Raven's fight with JNPR sounds to me exactly like Penny's reveal. As in, Monty wanted to do a kewl fighting scene but didn't think how it would fit in with the rest of the volume. Blake vs Adam and Yang vs Adam scenes were talked about extensively before. Basically, Adam OHKO Yang has more impact that Yang exchanging blows with him and then getting her arm cut off.

Here's the thing though. We can't be sure how the production season would have gone had monty lived. On the previous commentaries, which include Monty, him and M&K talk all the time about how things are cut, added or pushed. That guy had a very key point in that journal post about "kill your darlings". Shane's an animator, he's very focused on the animation and retaining what animation moments Monty wanted. But, editing is something that does and should happen. It's entirely possible that in the writing some of those events would have been altered, pushed or cut entirely anyway. The world literally will never know.

And personally, I don't think it's cold so much as just RT got handed a big burden in a lot of ways. Lots of people in the company were close to Monty, RWBY was a big success with a lot of fans, that's a lot of irons they had to keep in the fire. I guess from a certain definition its "cold", in that it's a calculated measure so that RT could handle RWBY and continue working on it as best they could without having its creative guru or whatever. Saying it's "cold" makes it sound like they're being emotionally harsh for its own sake, instead of what seems more likely as them being like "shit, the fuck do we do now?".

Maybe whatever Raven wanted was tied to whoever Jaune really is, or it was connected to Pyrrha's Maiden candidacy and she wanted to prep swaying her away from Ozpin. In the long run it could have suspicions one might have about the other, for Pyrrha it could lead to doubt about Jaune's reliability, and for Jaune it could lead to guilt about not stopping Pyrrha before things got way too out of hand, possibly both. Alternatively it could set up conflict between JNR and RWBY further down the line when Raven really comes into play directly - If Jaune were to call Raven's loyalties and motivations into question, and Ruby wasn't present for such an event, she might be inclined to side more with her sister, depending how things went.
