Thanks, man! The best thing I'd tell you to do is get in touch with your local police departments. Every department will offer different programs and services you can take advantage of. A lot of the ones near me offer ride-alongs to civilians and are especially receptive towards people looking to get a better understanding of the job. A couple even offer junior officers' programs that are sort of like internships with the department and give you a glimpse into what the dynamic of the lifestyle is like.

The ride-alongs are the best though. If you can, try to go for one later in the afternoon/evening/night. It'll be a little slower than during the day, but the calls are usually more interesting. Most stuff during the day seems to be traffic incidents and the like.

It's definitely not a job for everyone, but anyone with the right reasons and drive can do a lot of good. I live in a suburban area outside three smaller-sized cities. It's pretty nice, since there isn't a TON of crime or problems you'd see in a major urban area, but it isn't some carrot-choked podunk in the middle of nowhere with only three cops and nothing going on. It's like a happy median. You get different sets of issues. Depending on what you're looking for, you might like a city setting better than a suburban or rural area.

That said, I just wanted to let you in on the punchline in advance: he's not interested the way you think he is. He knows you're not going to be cuddled, and you can't build a relationship with a fox and not be okay with a lot of touching and cuddling. You've already given him the message this won't work.
2: I'll put this as delicately as possible, but let's just say that a relationship without sex is a dead-end. Especially for a predator. Even if you really like each other for your personality, even if you end up falling for him (you shouldn't, that's why I'm telling you this now), it's not going to be viable because you're just not... compatible. I dated a bunny once and despite the "stereotype"? about sex we didn't manage to make anything work, and not for lack of trying. Even if you were willing to try, and it's clear you're not, you wouldn't manage it. Unless I guess he's packing a micro or something. Even then, don't count your chickens.

I'm not being racist or anything, just telling you to spare you. Bunny/Fox just doesn't work, you're culturally and physically incompatible.
