Thatch here, one of the places you can actually visit in JQ II was Menagerie but was scrapped earlier on in concept.

I believe that if ever there was a JQ III (VERY VERY UNLIKELY, JQ II was already stretching it) it would be solely set on Menagerie mainly because it can really can stand alone rife with potential and adventure just set in that location.

The current Wunderland estate lies in the heart of the great forests of West Mistral. Reif Wunderland, following the family’s somewhat indignant exodus from West Menagerie, had been certain to procure land that would place them far from any prying eyes.

The forests had been rife with Grimm at one point, supposedly. In truth, you had never even seen one in your time there. The vast wall constructed around the estate had done a remarkable job of keeping Grimm at bay, assuming any had approached it to begin with.

“The Grimm bare no enmity for life other than humans…remove all negative emotion and you remove their sense of purpose.”

That was the theory behind the construction of the wall. To this day, you’re not sure how it works, but any negative emotion that could have occurred within the estate would never be detected beyond the walls. It could not be said to be magic; surely, no such thing existed. But semblance had been used – if one person could mask their emotions from Grimm while another could infuse objects with the properties of other semblances…in many ways, wouldn’t such methodology be akin to magic in itself?

And so the Grimm never came. Nothing ever seemed to visit that solitary house.

Nothing that would ever be worth mentioning, anyway.

Hand pressed against the glass of the south-facing window of your bedchamber, atop the tasteless tower at the peak of the estate, you stare out at the forest below, scanning the distance for anything different from the day before. Any change, any movement, that might indicate that the passage of time held any meaning here beyond stagnation. There is nothing.

Turning away, your eyes cast disinterestedly about your room. The dull blue shading of the walls and furnishings, all bearing a pattern of the family crest, seems to suit the ever-present lonesome atmosphere. You had long since exhausted all the dust-coated tombs upon the bookshelves, and your extravagant telescreen only received regional Mistralian network feed, though your parents had ensured that only ‘appropriate’ channels were accessible. At present, the local news channel was all that was available. You wondered what in the world was on the others channels.

There comes a knock at the door.

As she does, you lazily roll over onto your front and slowly drag yourself upright on the bed. Bianca enters the room, your supper laid on a silver tray.

The rationale behind it was supposed to be kinda like DaS2, where you get a whole lot of paths open to you from the start and choose one to ride along as you go for the ending. Hence all the characters being shown within like 2 chapters of each other.
But people kinda went about it like a completionist Persona run where they tried to go for all the social links, so I started changing shit until I had to make the murder mystery the main plotline to get all of the 8 mains together. Hence the "Mystery Inc."
I realize that I screwed up pretty badly. I had some ideas for what each individual character's route would be about, and would go into detail with it later, but that got scrapped, and I ended up getting nowhere with all of the characters, rather than going somewhere with one or two of them. The others were just going to crop up when they're needed in the plot.
I know it's my fault things ended up this way. I shouldn't blame the audience.

“Would milady care for anything further? Shall I serve you directly? Should I use the fork or my mouth?”

You throw your pillow at her, petulantly. It bounces off her, but she remains quite unflinching. She is shaking slightly though. So are you, for that matter.

You both burst out laughing.

It was, quite obviously, utterly unacceptable to fraternize with servants. One poor butler once had the misfortune of winning your mother’s favour…your father had not taken to the matter lightly.
As such, Bianca and you had concocted this little strategy to avoid your parent’s wrath. Crude though it was, at least you had someone to freely talk to.

Prior to the Faunus War, it had been one of primary financial contributors to WhiteCorp, now subsumed into the robotics division of Atlas R&D. A particularly scrupulous person would’ve found some fascinating information had they managed to uncover the nature of some of the transactions that had taken place. Machines that are almost visually indistinguishable from humans. The possibility, even, of a machine that thinks like a human. If someone had managed to get hold of that kind of information…

The machine in front of you stands stiffly to attention, it’s dull blue eyes staring blankly ahead. That aside, it really does resemble you now. And that was more than enough. It seems more than enough for Bianca, who seems to be shuddering and panting with excitement beneath your foot.
