/scaly/ - Scaly General #291

Post lewd reptiles and discuss scaly stuff, male or female is fine. Dragons, wyverns, reptile folk, snakes, and sharks on top of other scaly things are welcome. Ferals, anthros, and human/scaly are allowed, but please, no monstergirls. As some may take a few creative liberties on their creations, do inquire if there's a particular edge case you're unsure about.

Please avoid reposting images from the past 2-3 or so threads, try to keep things fresh and post other content.
Arguments regarding scaly anatomy don't go anywhere, avoid starting them.
We don't have any other form of chat setup outside these threads and there are no plans for a Discord server, don't ask.

There has been some tentative research on this topic recently. Basically, the researchers administered a test to a bunch of CS students. The test asked some really simple questions about variable assignment. Something like this:
int a = 10;
int b = 20;
a = b;

The test-takers were then asked the values of a and b for about 20 of these questions. What researchers found was students that formed consistent models (even if they were incorrect!) of how a and b were filled were able to go on and become programmers. Of the people that didn't, very very little were able to become programmers.

This research is very early, but it's major support for the idea that you need preconceptions and an existing way of thinking to become a programmer.

I would say that if you pick up a book on programming, or read one of the many great tutorials online, and do so under your own power, you've got a great foundation already. If you make it through the material and understand it, you'll probably be able to program after a variable amount of time learning.

However, don't let what I said above lull you into a false sense of security. Just because you can get the basics down doesn't mean that programming will be smooth sailing from then on. I won't lie. Programming will not be easy.

Some beginners fall into the trap where they can't move on to the more advanced topics. They never make it on to do something useful because they are under the impression that programming should be easy. Don't be overconfident. Having trouble is a very good sign. It means you're actually challenging yourself and not wasting your time.

If you make it over the mountain, there won't be anything else like the things you'll experience. Ever wondered how that rock we tricked into thinking really ticks? The stronger you get at programming, the more layers you can peel back from that question. You'll become familiar with the intricacies of humanity's greatest invention, and that's a reward in itself.

I'm a die-hard Adine-hugger. Anna needs to be put somewhere nice and isolated from society where she can be monitored and given care. Like another anon said above: Fuck [her], but fuck [her] with due process. Only truly and irreversibly lost people deserve execution, and Anna doesn't count. She has some personality disorders, but her actions in bad end show she isn't irredeemable.
>>
>>11552484
>int a = 10;
>int b = 20;
>a = b;
It's been years since I've coded anything but a and b should both be 20 right? And shouldn't it be a==10?
>>
What cute noises do scalies make while they're asleep?
>>
>>11554716
Yes, both are 20. No, it's =. One is assignment is most languages, two is comparison. If the last statement were a == b the line output would be "False" and no assignment would take place because nothing is done with the output.

This is for C-like languages. Some languages have completely different syntax for assign/compare.

I like her because she's an interesting character to read about. She has good and bad things about her - the bad things give her room to grow, and the good things make her likeable enough to watch her improve. I find passion admirable, some people see her as a sociopath but I see her as someone who will change the world and help people. History will remember her as the one who cured cancer and saved billions, not the mean cunt who stole embryos. People don't remember Ghandi as the creeo who slept with underage girls, or Nikola Tesla as the weirdo who married a pidgeon. (Both true stories) They remember them as great men who changed the world.
Plus she's hot as fuck.
>>

The Hist manifests in the current Kalpa as trees and gives sap to the Argonians who drink it and it makes them more human shaped (hence the boons, argonians secrete Hist sap out of them to their young)

She has a stripe on her snout much like Adine. Also her wings are flexible and can pick things up.

>Alscadox was once an immensely powerful dragon matriarch. Her territory was vast, her hoard was unrivaled, and humans paid her tribute with fearful frequency.
>Those days are long behind her though.
>Today ‘Alsie’ (as she is somewhat disrespectfully known) is an older, jaded, tired dragon with basically no horde, no power, no tribute, and no influence. She subsists in a small cave hidden among the mountains, picking off grazing sheep for sustenance. The rumor is she can’t even breathe fire anymore, but that’s only among the rare few peasants who even seem to acknowledge her existence.

I'm fine with females too, you know. I'm just craving the femminine look.
The extra thing with girly males is that they want YOU to dominate them, even though they could completely wreck your shit, but no. They're just submitting entirely to you.
It works for females too, but it can be a bit less obvious. I'd gladly take feral females in lingerie too, you know.

I said I enjoyed it, that doesn't mean it isn't flawed.
Combos were weak and repetitive, the perfect dodge was near meaningless since you had a launcher from neutral anyways, bosses were copy pasted several times, and humanoid enemies were just obnoxious with poorly designed movesets.
There certainly were several amazing moments, but it's idiotic to think it doesn't have flaws or somehow forgives them when the same company has produced games with solid, weighted, combo-focused systems like in bayonetta, MGR, and DMC. And of course each of those had flaws as well, mainly tedious platforming or "puzzles" or the repeating bosses, platinum does a lot of that.

>What is it that's so appealing about dominant-as-hell apex predators being really gentle and romantic?
Being in the intimate acceptance and protection of a powerful individual gives your life stability and greater chance at achieving a good life.
>What is it that's so appealing about mostly bloodless love bites?
It's a display of passion, which serves as a reminder of biter's dominance and appreciation towards you.
>What is it that's so appealing about them slowly becoming more aggressive on the way to climax?
People in general want to feel accepted and significant. Growing aggressiveness shows their instinctual passion taking over, signaling that you are desireable. Note that the aspect of dominance is still present.
>What is it that's so appealing about an evening that starts slow and comfy and ends in pelvic pulverisation?
All of the above. Stable good life under the protection of an alpha-individual, display of raw strength and desire towards you. Might be that from the evolutionary biology's perspective this shares the same psychological traits that have traditionally made women subservient towards strong males.

The real interesting questions is that what sort of relations this kind of behaviour might have with our desire to form a sense of god? Most of us would hardly accept kin as worthy of such title IRL. Perhaps mixing the aspect mythological physiology allows us to overcome those restrictions and immerse ourselves in a fantasy of otherworldly ultra-male that teases out our submissive traits. Does the current sociological climate cause this sort of behaviour or has this always existed? Do we have a genetical programming in our DNA to worship intelligent reptilians that has now started activating? Are the lizard people coming back to earth and rule as slaves?
one can hope...
It's just one possible psychological profile for individuals with these tastes. Of course there are people who deviate from it.

Humor me on this one, though. Would you rather choose a weaker, less intelligent mate to adjust to your sense of equality? Because in either cases, with the attitude you just described, I think there as to be some form self-deception going on. Either you have to pretend to be truly submissive with an equally powerful mate, or you have to pretend to be equal (in day-to-day life) with a more powerful mate. With which one do you identify more with?

What I am going after is to figure out how we define "equal" here. Can a dominant party treat the lesser one in "equal" manner outside the bed room, or does dominance inherently involve bossing or even abuse? Do you feel you could ever trust an openly dominant individual?
>>
>>11571433
It ultimately boils down to respect. We're all intelligent beings, we all deserve to be treated accordingly. No one has any right to look down on another.

That is a rightful view. It's probably relatively rare for people to enjoy being looked down upon and getting abused. What people enjoy in dominance probably more often about getting to look up to someone and in return have the compassion and adoration return as an elevating experience. It's one of the rare occasions where they can truly let down their guards and open up to their partner, and despite his great capability to abuse that trust, he decides value and carress you instead. I think increased strength of your partner amplifies the excitement gained from that dynamic.

I was first wondering what an equality-seeking individual would get from the predator-prey dynamic, but perhaps it's about the "apex-predator" status playing into the sensation of mutual appreciation in relationship. While you as the submissive party feel elevated by appreciation of the great beast, in turn you may give inherently violent creature a moment of respite, a mending for the soul.

To consumate such relationship is one of the rare occasions where they can truly let down their guards and open up to their partner, and despite the partner's great capacity to abuse that trust, he decides value and carress one instead. Seems like boils down to each individual forming their own subjective dream state based on their experiences in life, a set of conditions that give them a peace of mind. Avoiding dependencies might serve as a virtue, I myself consider a good relationship to be one where the parties help and encourage the other to improve, thus you do not want to be a burden. With a good partner this doesn't come off as a stressful obligation, but rather a natural drive. On the other hand, if the aversion to dependance comes off too strong it might prevent one from forming commitments, leaving the relationship shallow.

I like both, when I have coffee I prefer espresso. Starbucks makes great lattés, and the café misto is amazing as well. And there's something nice about a small cup of plain black tea, it's a great way to start a serious day.
For tea I have a cup of green almost ever day, usually plain but sometimes flavoured with lemon and honey. I don't have black tea often but it's good on a cold day with cream (not milk) and sugar.
Even though Rooibos isn't technically tea I like that as well.

I drink neither but I would like to try tea again some day. I've only every drunk lemon-flavoured, which both times had a very noticeable lack of any lemon flavour. Any recommendations?

I drink a lot of milk though, but only when I eat something. A litre per day isn't uncommon. >=3% and low pasteurization or bust.

How exactly is milk cancerous? Or heart disease-inducing, either? If you use a bit of butter, you get way more fat into your body than you ever could with milk, -especially- with store-bought one that has very low fat content (true milk is richer in fat than some of the brands of cream I've seen). But the body needs fat to function. Not too much, obviously, but out of all things that could clog up your veins, milk definitely isn't high on the list. And I've never heard about milk causing cancer, seriously. Is that some kind of a Coca-Cola propaganda?

Lots of specialty stuff like Ritual, Counter Culture, Gregory's, Four Barrel, and Contraband, brewed in a French Press. Rishi is my favorite brand of tea.

I'd spend a lot of time in human form at the same coffee shops I visit now, except I'd try to develop closer relationships with baristas I really like and tip them hundreds of dollars for their loyalty. My enemies get decaf or nothing!

Do some research.

>Milk is bad for your digestive system.
I don't know what kind of milk you've been drinking, but this definitely isn't the case with the milk where I live. Lest I would have noticed by now.

>Commercial milk
As opposed to.. non-commercial milk? Milk that isn't in the mass market? Do you live in the US per chance? They tend to do some gross stuff with their food stuff. Or is it not pasteurized?
>>
>>11576422
Not him but the US is very strange with food.
Processing plants are much cleaner in the states but they do a lot of weird shit to the food for greater shelf-life or flavor. At least that's what I've been told.
>>
>>11576422
lactose intolerance affects about 60% of the adult population and thus is in fact considered "normal", because nature only intended for children to drink milk.
It depends on where you live though. Asians have a much higher percentage than europeans. Maybe you are just part of the "lucky" 40%.
>>
>>11576422
>>11576372
I am in the US so if you're not, maybe the state of commercial is better.

Milk in general though is definitely not good for by itself. Humam beings have not evolved to be consuming milk from other animals, especially for adults. There are far healthier options for getting calcium and vitamin D.
>>
>>11576493
>lactose intolerance affects about 60% of the adult population
>Asians have a much higher percentage than europeans. Maybe you are just part of the "lucky" 40%.
Are you using a European context here? In that case it seems really of the mark. In Sweden, at most 10% of the people I've conversed with to the point of food habits have had trouble with lactose.

>>11576581

Took it straight from the wiki:

> The exact number of adults with lactose intolerance is unknown. One estimate puts the average at 65% of the global population. Rates of lactose intolerance vary between regions, from less than 10% in Northern Europe to as high as 95% in parts of Asia and Africa. Onset is typically in late childhood or early adulthood. The ability to digest lactose into adulthood evolved in several human populations independently probably as an adaptation to domestication of dairy animals 10,000 years ago
