alright, swat here again. gonna have to break this into two posts. bear with me.

1. Form a clear pitch. concisely, what your idea is. provide the synopsis of your plot at its most fundamental.
2. List out your concepts, your themes, and know what message you're telling through your story.
3. Next, write a well thought-out outline for your development.
4. In production, write the damn thing. All the stuff you add here is surface level, you know where you're going because you're following your outline.
5. Last off, release it.


First you have a pitch line. What is a pitch line? it's an elevator pitch. "A rabbit travels to zootopia to become the first cop of her species and teams up with a hustler fox to uncover a conspiracy of savage predators." whenever you're confused about what comes next in the story, you always have a guiding light. you can look back to your pitch line if needed and say, "its a story about this". Concept builds on that pitch, but it's more than the narrative. Concepts in zootopia? "anyone can be anything, you are not what everyone tells you you are, prejudice is misplace and leads to fear." These are sort of like your map. The pitch asks "what if we went here?", and the concept is saying "okay, we will need these things in order to get there. we'll run into prejudice, so we'll need to remember that prejudice is misplaced and wrong, and leads to fear." One sentence descriptions of the messages in your story. These are the important themes of your narrative, and will be the driving force of the resolution. Example; when you encounter doubt because the world is telling you that you can't chase your dreams, remember: anyone can be anything.

Development is outlining your story and planning out the events. Here is your abstract. Tell the story in as few events as possible, the most core events in your story that, if they did not happen, would prevent your story from continuing. Take any story and think "what are the most important parts of this story?" Take goldilocks; three bears leave their house, goldilocks breaks in, eats their porridge, sits in their chairs, and sleeps in their beds. they come back and scare her away.
In zootopia, very few events happen "just because". Judy and Nick survive being iced by Mr. Big because Judy saved his daughter while chasing Duke, who was stealing nighthowlers on contract with Doug who was working for Bellwether in order to engineer a hoax against preds to put herself in power.
