that's still someone else as far as i'm concerned. i think one of the main appeals to the furry fandom/fursonas is being able to create a new identity to make up for any flaws your "main" identity has. regardless of how close it is to your "real life" identity, you still need to be able to detatch from reality at some point to create a persona taking the shape of an anthropomorphic animal that has any type of semblence to the self. i would probably have a fursona but i'm afraid of using furry stuff as a vice. this may not be how many people see things, but i've realized that the only reason i'm exclusively attracted to anthro porn as opposed to 3d is because of how off-limits people are to me in real life.

i can't relate to a very very large portion of the people i find myself interacting with on a yearly basis. i go to parties, have a job that requires me to interact with pretty much everyone i see, take public transit, take trips to highly populated areas of the city and still never find anyone i could even claim as a friend let alone a sexual partner. i'm very outgoing irl--especially on my way home from work--and am usually in the mood for a brief conversation with most people i encounter unless you're look like a fucking crackhead or something. good company for when i'm bored, but most people are so fucking boring or are interested in such retarded shit i cannot bear to be around any of them. granted my interests are really autistic and niche so i'm being very picky.

anyway i've pretty much given up on finding a 3d partner and have shifted like 60% my sexual and emotional needs to 2d concepts. i only beat the meat to furry pictures and i have a couple very long-term internet buddies that i can talk to if i'm ever feeling lonely or upset about something personal. i have very good 3d friends but none of them know about the deepest layers of my hobbies and stuff.

i want to keep my 3d friends, my reputation at work and in public and my perception of reality grounded. i think creating a fursona and taking the time to create a personality/identity outside of myself and using that identity to escape the reality i should be working towards improving would be conducive to long-term happiness. neither is sitting at home jerking off to furry porn and having really depraved fantasies while cudding a fox plush before bed but nobody is perfect.

Well that is what many people might be doing, but there are others who like i said might just project their self aka personality, body type and even facial hair etc on the fursonaa, there isnt much building up after that outside some physical aspects like "are the hair too long/short compared to me".

And honestly that shouldnt stop you from enjoying things and using them as a vice.
I mean you have a limited number of years on this planet and since anti-aging/immortality is still far off it is better to enjoy life as much as possible. For example I ve realized that there are few things that i enjoy irl, video games are simply a much more interesting and fun way to spend my time so why not enjoy my life there since it is the place i have the most fun.

That doesnt mean you get lost there, it is a conscious decision to enjoy your time in that place instead of climbing a mountain for example which is an irl activity some people would enjoy(Then you move to the "Why do people enjoy the things they enjoy" part but at the end of the day as long as what you enjoy doesnt affect innocents you shouldnt obsess over it since people have different experiences and will like different things, it doesnt matter if it was a bad or good experience that lead to that, it is what it is and who you are in the present and there is no reason to desperately try to become something perfect by labeling what you enjoy as bad or good. The only reason such thoughts exist is to give a fake sense of stability and control).

Well depends on the reputation, if you are serious and normal acting then yes, it might look weird to others.
But i personally much rather embrace my weirdness and reveal it(Obviously depending on the situation and people and your rank) for fun reactions and also because i believe if more people are honest this repressive reality most normal people have in their minds will slowly fade away leading to a more open world.

Compared to a world where everyone represses themselves outside of their private lives leading to a world where everyone has an incredibly narrow minded view of the "norm" and acceptable behavior leading to serious negativity for anyone who doesnt follow that ultra limited acceptable behavior code even if everyone knows how hypocritical it is based on the things they do in private.
Challenging their norms is both fun and good imo, the reactions you get by putting a 2d panda husbando in a portrait near your work place while most people expect you to put something more "normal" are hilarious and teaches them that the world isnt that limited normal thing they almost always expect.

TL:DR You really shouldnt worry as much, as long as you are good at your job, others need you and therefore you have a stable financial future you should focus on enjoying your life instead of trying to reach some stereotype of "correct happy life"

True. I admit that my last post was mostly projection but I thought I gave some hints of self-awareness later on in the post. But even if a fursona is not much more than an online avatar, it’s still an important part of your online persona even if you manage to keep it contained when offline—especially if you’re the type that actively roleplays with your sona. I also believe that your online persona bleeds into your offline personality in some way, shape or form. While it may not be unhealthy for this to happen with a fursona, it’s still something to think about, I guess?

I’m afraid of my relatity shifting to where I see it fit to be an unhealthy stagnant social reject compared to my current state: relatively healthy social reject that’s slowly weaving myself back into society after years of living in isolation. I’m still going to try my hardest to NOT look for any type of romantic relationship because it will just leave my disappointed or frustrated. I’m not looking for pity when I say that either; it doesn’t bother me that I believe there’s no chance of dating someone in the near future, though like everyone I do have my days. Anyway I do think reality shifts are easy to come by, especially at my age. The other week I thought it would be cool to own and take care of a bunch of pets so I bought a snake and plan on copping a cute chinchilla whenever I have the money to spare. Maybe I’m just insane but it was very easy to go from 0-zoo animal man overnight.

I’m just looking to purge myself of anything I believe is holding me back from doing what I need to do in life and the furry fandom is one of those things. I realize most people don’t do much other than appreciate the art, but that was just for the record. I’m not tryting to generalize or put anyone in a box. Those fake senses of stability are what help give me motivation to improve and fit inside of the box I’m building for myself. Labelling things as good or bad is a “good” thing to do. I’m not trying to be perfect, but I definitely want to go in the right direction. I feel you. There’s not much wrong with having an online hobby or an unhealthy one. It’s just that in my situation I feel like it’s holding me back from fitting in. Yeah, I get that. It’s fun for me to challenge people’s norms but only in private. Like I brought this girl from work to my house after we were done and starting drinking. By the end of the night I had her reading the furry comics I have hidden in my room aloud to anyone who was listening. It was good fun but I would feel weird about doing things like that in public. I feel like it would make people take me less serious or something.

Yeah. I just wish there was more people that have the same interests as me but I’m very picky. My video game taste is weird and I don’t like branching out much. Camping is one of my more acceptable hobbies but I like primitive camping and anyone I’ve ever proposed a camping trip to isn’t down with that. Little things like that make me feel isolated from everyone I meet lol it sounds petty but it’s just how I feel. Even my furry/sexual/fetish preferences are hard to come by!

All those things are pretty much creations of the norm most people have in their minds, people you say you feel disconnected from and that feel "boring" yet you seek to become part of that instead of holding your own.
Almost all those words are subjective, completely dependable on the age you were born since they are so flimsy and unstable yet you are aiming for them because it might bring "happiness"? It sounds like those hypocritical right wingers who act in a certain "normal" way in public and do extreme shit in private due to the repression they suffer. Plus attaining that "normal" "correct way of life" might not even be possible because there will always something else to "purge" leading to misery instead of happiness.
Letting that fake sense of stability lead you to an unattainable goal seems to be doing the opposite and your only choice would be to tell yourself "ok i feel better that i managed to repress this desire as well" all the time before you end up falling for some really big negative vice in private.

That is why it is better to control yourself through letting yourself free when it is safe, indulging in small things you enjoy as much as possible which imo leads to a far healthier psyche since you are satisfied to a degree and wont fall for more impulsive and negative things.

Not really, you can easily do it in your workplace as well, i literally put bara/wow desktop images in certain public computers, have sfw husbando screensaver in my office which some would occasionally see, especially the janitors that clean and even a portrait with a furry character in a rly public place.
It has provided me with some hilarious reactions and faces and at the same time these people have realized that there are far more things out there than their limited world view since my work is pretty much full of ultra normal people.
Of course you dont do that the first day you go in to work, you judge characters, test comment reactions and find how far you can push it, and the more useful and irreplaceable you are the further you can push it.

If someone doesnt take you seriously because of your hobbies and interests then there is no reason to care about his opinion, i ve seen the same thing irl with me and my academy, the more intelligent and useful people took me seriously even when they knew i was gay, while more homophobic or "im not a homophobe but my behavior changes around gays" didnt take me seriously so i didnt bother with them either since they usually werent the ones who were useful.

And now in my work i never had an issue with my weirdness because like i said, if you are really useful to others and help them(aka do the job you are paid to do well) they will automatically create a positive opinion of you and will take you seriously. Pic related is a very good example.
Now if someone is a homophobe or is triggered by anything deviant so severely that he wont take you seriously, that is HIS issue, unless he is that boss >.>
