Requesting art for Dr. Tessa LeCoyle, the mad scientist also known as Doc Shock. She is a deep blue frilled lizard with some electric blue scale patches shaped vaguely like lightning bolts. She can control electricity, firing it from her fingertips, tail, frill, anywhere, even her tits. Body wise, she has a slender hourglass similar to the ref, but with slimmer legs and considerably larger breasts. Her frill and tail are studded with miniature tesla coils and the odd bit of wire that spark whenever she's angry or particularly maniacal. She's extremely tall; moreso than any of my other characters, the tallest of whom is in the ref. Personality wise, she's extremely intelligent, calm, and collected when her frill is down. When it's raised and sparking, she's a stark raving lunatic. She tends to flip between the two modes indiscriminately.

Requesting art for Coin. She's an extremely lifelike, gambling-themed robot built by a mad scientist. She is an elegant cross between a Maneki Neko and a Slot Machine, with her left arm raised almost perpetually. The reels take the place of her breasts. Other than her reels, Coin has a few other unique features: her head and limbs can rotate freely, she has a retractable coin dispenser in her stomach, she's an exceptionally fast dealer, and she can dispense mixed drinks from her tail. While she is lifelike, complete with synthetic fur, she should still "look" mechanical; maybe have her eyes look like LCD screens similar to Smash Megaman? Body wise, she's tall and slender, with a bit of an hourglass figure. Her outfit: she goes topless due to the chest reels; maybe a collar with a bowtie for the casino worker theme? Personality wise, she's polite, cordial, and somewhat flirty; she's also a compulsive gambler.

NOT a request, but I'd like some help with one of the char ideas I'm putting on ice for this thread: Elartha.

Lore wise, she's an ancient eldritch being known as She Who Consumes All; she was accidentally summoned by an occult enthusiast. She's endowed with the ability to consume literally anything. People, worlds, galaxies, even abstract things like periods of time or general concepts. She once devoured the idea of fear to keep the denizens of a planet calm while she ate them one by one. She can regurgitate anything she's eaten or permanently destroy it to bolster both her strength and her figure. She can also convert mortals into Children of Elartha, avatars of gluttony and greed. She's a surprisingly motherly soul for an all-consuming dark force.

There are some elements of her design i can see clearly, but i need help with others: just how eldritch she looks, one head or two, color scheme, and what sort of figure she has.

What's set in stone: she's eldritch, but her "mortal-safe" form reveals her as very goatlike; she speaks in incomprehensible black speech; she's surprisingly chill for an immortal world eater.

Bumping with more lore from my setting:

Elartha, She Who Consumes All, hadn't been summoned from her home in the void for thousands of years. One unremarkable day, she found herself pulled from outside the universe and into a small house. A small, very eclectically decorated house. As she blinked in shock, the smiling, one-eyed face of her summoner came into focus. Though summoning an immortal, eldritch being wasn't intentional, Thrif couldn't contain her excitement. The tall cat ecstatically began attempting to speak to Elartha. The bewildered elder stared in confusion before replying in a tongue not meant for mortal ears. Thankfully, her speech wasn't damaging to the psyche, as one would expect, but the two were mutually disappointed at their language barrier...

Eventually the two formed a sort of friendship, though they could scarcely understand one another. Surprisingly enough, the appearance of a Lovecraftian being capable of eating reality itself was met with little fanfare. She more or less blended into society with little issues, though she remains somewhat of an outcast.

I think if you keep the paper strip design, it would still work. Especially if you went with a dia de los muertos theme. That's what I think when you say 'chupacabra pinata' at least. And I don't want to bring up ponies again, but look at some of their designs to show how a sinister/gothy/darker color can still be bright and eye catching. Limestone Pie is gray and gray, but she still really pops. And I just love Inky Rose's colors.

I don't have any artwork of my character so here is a nice request.

/r/ my secretary bunny robot. She'd be pure white (like an apple product, sleek and ~fancy~) with grey hair. Her camera-iris like eyes are a deep sapphire blue. I included a cute bun as an example of her aesthetic and proportions, as well as an outfit she might wear.

Her limbs have doll/action figure-like ball joints much like the sketch on the right. These joints are a dark grey. Warning stickers and warranty disclaimers would be located on her right thigh. There are vents on her back to let out heat, as well as bolted shut service access panels. An on and off button is located above her right breast on her collar bone, and it glows the same blue as her eyes.

Her body is made of a glossy hard white plastic. Areas that need to flex are made of a non glossy, matte white rubber - her face, chest, rear, etc. There would be noticeable seam lines between different panels indicating she is indeed a robot.

She may be nude or clothed. If nude, she probably does have rubery lewd bits. I'm fine with whatever.

but you can't really say the same for a really simple reference picture like that. one of those poses would likely take that artist an hour, hour and a half max to make.

requesting a portrait of this Draenei. The opening on the headgear (not the laser pointer, the gun) could be closed and just be a box. Would like character to be more heavy-set than the ingame model, more volume on breasts/thicker ribcage and all. If a bit of her combed over hair could fall onto the goggles that'd be great. Soot on a cheek or other signs of mesiness are fine too. Gyroscopes and stardust effect on the gear is optional, also the shield on the back can be ignored.

I'm pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree, in my senior year, leading a team under NASA to produce a system for them.

I know, but this is what I consider to be baseline.

I also understand the simple concept of supply and demand, yes some artists due to their stature and skill will have what a sane person would understand as absurd prices $500 - $1000 for a well finished piece.

If they spend 10 - 20 hours on it I could understand but otherwise it depends.

But I'm more so looking for time spent, I would be happy to pay, if I had the cash, lets say about $50 bucks an hour top. Especially if the artist had a style and skill I would be very interested in.

That's about 3 times more than the "living wage" of $15 an hour, so even if they take three times the time to do all steps of the commission such as conceptualization, finding references, and communication with the commissioner along with the actual drawing they're ok.

There are other categories as well that one must consider though.

If they literally have some of the most middling artwork that I have ever seen, I would as one would suspect I would value their work at a lower hourly pay.

Its like paying an apprentice plumber compared to a master plumber.

The latter is going to be quicker and will cost you more for the job for the higher quality and speed, the former will be slower and less precise but will cost you less.

But in the end it comes down to the consumer, are they willing to actually pay so much for something.

My question was more so about the quality of the work and the time spent that I could expect from the sketch and so on.

Just to allow me to slowly piece together if I would even be interested in commissioning a sketch with my highly underdeveloped deductive skills.

I understand commissions depend on a number of factors and I will be happy to pay a reasonable amount, around the range of $50 an hour for an artist that I would want to commission.

My question was directed more at the quality and time the artist would spend on the project so I could make my own decision.

I've never done commission before, and I do understand the concept of altruism.

I've also done requests on here before, despite how shitty they could be.
