Right around the same time for me. I want to say 2004 because I remember having to decide between watching Code Lyoko or erping after school since there was no TV in the computer room. First one was when I gave SecondLife a try and made an equine girl with a lot of curves and cowgirl themed clothing. I just did the usual roleplay stuff, though descriptions were a bit different due to there being avatars to illustrate the point.

Second one was a first person posting styled incest roleplay. He had a thing for Germaine from Neurotically Yours so I just used her as a reference for appearance. I guess he got way too into it due to us posting in the first person perspective.

Third one was some roleplayer who seemed to be using prewritten responses to whatever my character does so he probably didn't want anything that deviated from the usual. I think that one was another curvy equine though I think she was a milf themed one. I later found out that he does this sort of thing a lot with other people.

Fourth one was when my penguin pornstar character got annoyed with how he was putting himself on a pedestal because he was talking to her with basic manners. The setting was simple where she winds up giving a fan her hotel number at an autograph signing but he decided to play as some kind of god among losers which really annoyed me.

Fifth one was just a tiger girl who runs a convenience store because her dad wasn't able to run it anymore. That one was just someone who started off with 'offers her a flower' as his introduction.

That last one, I was roleplaying as a female cougar character and something came up in real life so I had to head out. Person on the other side got really mad about that even after I explained things.

Forgot to mention with the fourth one, that was our initial encounter and I told him why I wasn't into that roleplay and he said her understood. I then poked around his profile and mentioned a few things about it and he got mad. He seemed to take major offense to the fact that I told him that he should try to work on this alternate character's accent in his profile. Sometimes I give critisism in a way that sounds like a request "Could you please write more about what the character thinks?

I think I figured out why I never have trouble and it's from looking at FLG. Here is one of my rules, it's a rule I will never post on my profiles or tell the player that the rule is the in effect. The rule is no whining, venting, bitching, or complaining about anything under any circumstance. If I see that on your profile, even if it's the most minor thing, I'd rather play with a guy with a blank profile than you.

If you do it while chatting as a spontaneous thing, you enter my red zone, I won't tell you. I'll keep RPing as normal. But if you do it again within the next couple of days I'm going to come up with a polite excuse why I won't be RPing with you anymore. Yes days, that's the cooldown allowed between indivual vents. And each indivual line counts as a seperate vent. So if you say "man I hate horse rpers" that's you in the red zone and than also say "I hate cow rpers too" you've crossed the red zone and are gone. I'd only make an exception if you are something like a GM doing an awesome adventure or playing my waifu with god-like literary skill.

I've played her personality a couple times with a human loli I had and the transition works really well, actually. Gothic lolita's just the clothing and appearance, think of her more like a himedere from anime or a princess personality wise. She uses her looks and the fact that she's young to bully people, knowing she won't get called out on it. If you give in? Great, she'll pin you down and suck your dick while saying how pathetic you are for getting turned on by a little girl. But the real fun comes with the doms that don't take her shit and start using her ears like handles when that happens. I do like bestiality. Something like Marigold catching the fox trying to pick her pocket and she turns the tables, threatening to tell the cops if you don't give her a reason not to might be a good simple scene, but Marigold's used to having her friends and family wrapped around her finger, so we could do something based more around the manipulation more in depth too.

The other one sounds like it has a lot of potential too. They're pretty similar in appearance, so it would be easy for her to convince Marigold that she's joining the cool kids since you have the real demon. Depending on what exactly you're looking for, I can see Marigold either falling for the knot or trying to train the dog herself. Oh, or a scene of ever increasing dares might be good with that. I started RP-ing this year, and from the onset people seemed to really appreciate my writing. I did come from a background of writing to begin with, so honestly, the best advice is to just write on your own as well as RP. I actually use RP as writing exercises. Its alright!

Some general tips though (take with a grain of salt, i'm still new too!):

As a mute person myself... I don't really like it. Disabilities are exactly that, disabling. You need to look at it as a facet of your character and see whether the benefits outweigh the cost - I can tell you, it's not that great. It's probably the most romanticized/glamourized disability yet it's really limiting.

I can see it being fun for a dungeons and dragons character, or some character in a RPG like fallout/oblivion, but for a character who NEEDs to be able to reasonably articulate their thoughts, it's just limiting. It'd be like trying to write an academic essay with a 8 year old's vocabulary. Unless you're just going to replace every instance of vocalizing with "signs", in which case, why are they mute at all?

In short; special snowflake character flaw unless done exceptionally well. Realize it puts a burden on people you roleplay with.

here's my advice.


Draw on what you know from fiction books, if you have read any books about human behavior (philosophy, psychology) you can draw on that too.

Your first goal should be to be able to construct longer sentences. If you can break into paragraph length play you can start doing noteplay which is the best way to level up your skill because you have more time to reflect on what you are writing and craft it well.

Also this. I prioritize skill and creativity as the number one thing in my partner. I play roles and characters in situations I normally wouldn't if I think they have a great imagination or fantastic literary talent. This surrounds me with great people to learn from.

Here's a little checklist of things to consider when writing a sentence: what are my characters sex organs doing? Is there anything that could happen with just a specific part of them (ie the balls but not the shaft)? What are their arms doing, arms can touch things? If they are a furry have I mentioned their animal features recently (tail, ears.)? What are they thinking? Can they say anything sexy (what they say and what they think can be 2 different things. This is especially fun when making characters that lie or deceive)

Are you planning on playing female characters and if so doms, subs, or switches? Because that's my forte and I can give you some special advice.

This is actually very useful information. For me the most crucial bit of info is the custom kinks. It's where they say the bheaviour and attitude they want from ther partner which tells me whether I am compatible with them. Custom kinks about character development, world building, or that show politness elevate you to gold star status in my book. Custom kinks are the number 1 place to see if it's a partner you will enjoy.

From what I've learned you've gotta treat this shit like a job application and make sure that you get your point across as best as you possibly can with that one first message. Opening up with "Hi, wanna roleplay?" isn't even gonna be enough to warrant a response for a lot of people. You need to include stuff like what kinks you want to involve and a general scenario idea that ties them together, and even then you might still get ignored anyway because of something like them not being interested in your character/profile and not wanting to bother with telling you about it.

One way to play it a little safer is to only go after accounts with <1000 views. They're usually more responsive since they've probably had way less "hi how r u ur hot wanna rp?" messages in the past to turn them bitter and jaded towards anyone approaching them.

Should fetishes/custom fetishes be based more from the player's perspective or the character's perspective?
What do you do if you have a character that's unaware of certain fetishes (or even just oblivious to sexuality completely), or that you want things they may not like happen to them? Stands to reason you'd have to make it from the player's point of view, right?

Consider a profile centered around rape. "GETTING SKULLFUCKED" might be in faves, but it will definitely not be one of the character's favorites. Instead of writing it from player OR character perspective, categorize them based on how much you'd like to play that kink with that particular character.

Though I've got more than one partner I keep coming back to even though they can barely hit a paragraph because I just enjoy their creativity and kinks so much, so I don't think I'm typical for this thread.

Sometimes I like gore, but I know it's an immediate ignore from a lot of people. The obvious solution is to make a different character for when I'm looking for gore scenes, but I've never really liked profiles centered around a single kink. In my experience, if people see gore, half of them think that's the only thing you ever want, and the other half ignore you outright. If it's just vanilla *fucks her really hard* in IMs, I can do 1 sentence... but at some point I'm gonna trip up and the response won't be fluid, or I'll want to do a couple sentences. 3-7 sentences is nice for a back and forth, stroke story type shit. Paragraph standard is nice if it's heavily into some kink, and that needs a lot of fleshing out for the meat of the scene, get some good logs to jack or jill to later.

I've done it multiple times, RPing in ss13.
If I couldn't find a partner to fuck I'd suicide and hint I was blaming it on the person who rejected me last.
The suicide was really just to become a ghost and watch people who were ERPing. If people RPed their character reacting poorly to the suicide, I'd make a habit of making it seem like I was blaming them each time. :^)
