Man everytime I come back to /npg/ I realize how much I love the idea of Neopets than actually playing it. There's so much good art out there, and playing dress up with the pets the extent allowed in the game just scratches an itch no MMO has ever accomplished. Goddamn is it a pain to do anything on the website though. Neopets deserves so much more than it gets. I really wish there was a website reboot. It could probably come back into prominence if it was powered by nostalgia and more waifu art of the caliber Neopets seems to consistently have.

Really I hope it does try again since I'd love to see another console game.

What's the deal with selling rare, expensive items that you've restocked? Is it safe to sell it immediately, or is it better to wait a while before selling it? Pretty much. The cheapest way to get most items is by restocking, getting lucky in dailies, or doing the battledome for codestones and other items. You pretty much never buy anything from other users, unless it's impossible/extremely difficult to obtain otherwise or incredibly cheap. Check http://battlepedia.jellyneo.net/?go=battle_prizes to see which opponents and domes drop what items, but the best domes are the Dome of the Deep (smallest 'unique' prize pool so you're more likely to get codestones) and the Neocola Centre (small 'unique' prize pool which includes Armoured Negg, Neocola Tokens, and a couple of r90+ foods you can sell for more than 1k, as well as a very good chance of getting codestones from there). Also, almost every year there's the Charity Corner or other sitewide event that requires you to hand in items to participate, and you get an item in return in the range of what you donated (so if you donated r90+ items you'll get a random r90+ item back, donated r70 you'll get a random r70 back, etc.). During these events the prices of r90+ stuff (very rare to ultra rare in you inventory) skyrockets, because everyone wants a chance to get back an item that's worth a lot. I'd say dump any r90+ items in your SDB until the event, then throw them into your shp[ and watch the neopoints roll in.

Since it's not rare there'll be a lot of them in circulation in a short amount of time, and the price will drop like a rock to reflect that (new items, no matter what, will always have a high price at first due to the scarcity and people wanting to be one of the first ones to have it). Another addendum about the Battledome: Cursed Elixir is the best item to use if your pets have low stats due to it healing your pet by 20 points and dealing 20 points of damage to your opponent. There is no difference in prizes between challenger difficulty, so the easiest difficulty is more than fine for getting prizes. You'll also want the Scroll of Ultranova, Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer, and a shield like the Leaf Shield or Scarab Ring to get a basic Battledome setup.

I just checked the prices of the Cursed Elixir, and the price skyrocketed from 20k from when I bought mine. I have an extra one I can lend/give you, if you want it. Also, what species is your battlepet? Lennys have the two cheapest %100 freezers on market last I checked. Cheap enough that I'm still wrestling with feeding my bori a morphing potion so that he can use one. Otherwise the h4 helmet is probably your best bet at around 3 mil.

As for offense, yeah, ghostkerbomb and an anagram sword are a good bet, until you get to where your comfortable dropping a couple hundred mil per weapon. Sword of fire is the hardest to block, but since ghostkerbomb already deals mostly fire, you might want to go for the air sword instead. Your call.

Might be smart to invest in a multi-use shield and another multi-use weapon also, but I never had to bother. Still, another anagram sword wouldn't be a bad idea, and the h nox memorial shield gets a lot of praise.

Be warned, this is all knowledge from either an old account of mine that was frozen about a year ago (which could have changed by now) or from a couple minutes on the jn battlepedia (which can be somewhat unreliable). Still, you've got 3X the money I ever had anon. The [spoiler]1P[/spoiler]battledome is your fucking oyster.

Selling. Donating gets you mostly pretty worthless items and a few big-ticket ones that you have to sell through the Trading Post or auctions. That might earn you as much as selling donatable items if you do it enough (or maybe it wouldn't, I'm not sure), but then you'll have to deal with all the fuckery surrounding trades.

gave a decent beginners guide. Also http://battlepedia.jellyneo.net/?go=beginners is great for absolute beginners. The formatting is a little weird, but it's all there. Navigate using the links at the top of the page.

For low level pets, start with S750 Kreludan Defender Robot. Once your able to reliably beat the Koi Warrior, then you'll be sticking to Dome of the Deep until something changes.

As for training, don't bother training movement. Train str/def/end as high as you can before you're forced to train level. Stick with pirate academy until you're forced to mystery island at level 40. Train to level 50 and get the lens flare ability. Then do what you want.

For fuck's sake, do stocks just not get up to 60 anymore? This is probably the third time I've seen one jump to the mid 50s, just to fall to the low 40s by the same time next day. Should I just switch to selling at 45 /npg/? Or do I just need to be more patient?

If I knew that, I could control the entire site economy. Each Charity Corner event has taken different types of items. The first CC in 2014 took toys. The next one in 2015 had a "back to school" theme and collected Books, Clothes, and School items. The one this year had the biggest item pool thus far and took Books, Coffee, Food, Furniture, and Gift items. Each year the selection of items has been based on which stores they restock in, so there are some gaps in this list - for example, Clothes didn't include back/foregrounds, and Furniture didn't include Brightvale Windows for some reason.

I'm anticipating that they'll ask for weapons in an upcoming CC because they still haven't done them and there are a LOT of weapons on the servers, but there's no way to be sure. Weapons do seem to be the category with the greatest number of cheap r90-99 items, and at least there's no harm in holding on to them. If you want to stock up on items in preparation though, I'd suggest trying to get things from several different categories so it's more likely that you'll have hoarded some of the stuff they ask for.
