i was in your shoes and used to drawfag for a short while (pic related), but i had to get a job, and when my pc broke i lost all interest in drawing. if i could go back i'd never stop, but i simply don't have any reason or way to draw, digitally or physically.

please, from one drawfag to another, read /ic/'s sticky and git fucking gud. it's the only way someone's gonna pay you, and even then it'll be for fetish shit. in the meantime lurk drawthreads, take requests and develop a style.

You can't afford a notebook and ballpoint pen? You can get like 10 decent pencils and a sketchbook for under $10, or a bag of pens and 2-3 notebooks for under $5.

Bad idea pal, if you're planning on heading there, you're gonna be a much larger rut than what you are with your struggles of buying plain leaf paper. Calarts is stupidly expensive and it's not a great school to flourish into what you want to become. I had the same idea of going to Calarts too when I was younger, but that idea dropped later on when I found out the cons about it.

Its mostly fan made or memes. Some professionals are moving away from the industry and trying to make a living off being independent. See vidya, music and some hit movies.

I'm no expert, but I was thinking in my case going to my state's local art institute or my local community college to get a grip of going into traditional arts. But if you are really in a hard grip of going to CalArts, I do recommend what >>11319387 said, you're gonna save a lot more time and money if you do go in with some knowledge of your fine art skills and have an easier time with digital art.

Calarts just wants your money. Most of these drawings are not all that bad. Sketching out your everyday coffee shop is boring to a lot of people. You can learn most of what Calarts teaches by taking online classes or watching Youtube tutorials. Calarts is good for networking though. Sitting around complaining like a lot of the guys on /ic/ do is not going to make yourself a better artist. Lastly, don't compare other peoples successes to your own. It really comes down to how much are you willing to suffer for your dream and what do you define as successful? Do you want to make silly comics for your friends? Are you trying to get a job with an animation studio? Are you just trying to prove something to yourself? Get a part time job you can tolerate and maybe take a Federal loan if you are really serious about this. Keep the faith and keep drawing.

I think CalArts would help me significantly in learning digital art and animation techniques. It would also introduce me to people in the industry. I really want toake serious comics someday but that's not something I can do right now.

It's a pretty straightforward concept.
People are more likely to pay for porn than for not-porn.
The more hardcore it gets, the more people will pay. It's hard to find an inflation-scat-guro-vore artist.

looking at some of those REJECTED and ACCEPTED videos from CalArts it seems like what they're looking for is people with a beyond solid foundation of anatomy over anything else, even creativity. most of the sketchbooks that claim that got accepted were rather uh... academic?, dunno how to put it... like study notes from anatomy classes. not the kind of stuff you do for fun, but for practice. quite boring to be honest but shows deep understanding on the human body.

Do not rely on calarts to teach you from the ground up. Look at their portfolio requirements, you need to know how to draw before even getting in and it costs money to send in an application and portfolio. Do a local, tech, or community college first, but don't rely on calarts to teach you.

Calarts is $45k for four years not counting the dorms IF you happen to get accepted and they don't do many scholarships at all. If you can even afford to buy copy paper, I'd avoid the very idea.

Each office probably has hundreds or thousands of sheets, that have some outdated papertrail printed on one side, and they will end up in recycling anyway.

Also, you art isn't too bad but it's incredibly simple and sketchy, if you want to shill yourself, put some more effort. And not on lined paper.

As an option, do some gross inflation diaper vore porn commissions for chicken feed and buy better tools and then do normal art.
