Just read it, to be honest. It's only about 15(?) chapters so it's not that long of a read.
As to why people like it, besides the quality of the fic itself:
In my opinion, it stems from the fact that the character fall into easily recognizable tropes (Betty is very "momish", Ozzy is the bullied puppy trope, etc.) that allows people to very easily identify with and/or project a desired character trait onto them (see: all the "wolter is gay" posts). Add to that the fact that the writing is very accessible, and it's not hard to see why it's popular.

I can't help but want to facepalm every time I read fanfics like this; even stories where Nick and Judy start feeling something during the two days or even during the three month separation make me cringe just a little. It is fine for them to start feeling a spark of something by that point, but the whole "I knew I was completely in love with you after 48 hours with you" shtick goes against the the slow relationship development between the two. Their friendship was not easy, it was not love at first sight, but they ended up with a strong bond. You have to trust someone a LOT for you to be okay with them to hold a figurative knife to your neck.

A sheep named Remmy moves into an apartment in a heavily pred dominated place called Pack Street. So far, the story has taken place after Judy's conference and before Bellwether is exposed so racial/species tensions are quite high, especially considering that Remmy is a prey species. Through the chapters, we get to see some of Remmy's day to day life and the conflicts and resolutions he has with his new neighbors.
As for why people like it, there tons of possible aspects that people could enjoy. It's a nice slice-of-life fic with a variety of characters that provides a unique view on Zootopia. Also there are many female characters so people like to ship Remmy a lot.

She Haunts Me was a prove of concept for the author that ended up doing SavageWildeHopps. Which had a Nick that was trying to commit suicide once he saw Judy get killed in front of him. While also showing an far older Nick living in BB with the Hopps family who is also suffering from seeing visions of Judy since he wasn't taken his meds.

Nothing about kids though.

But I also remember a fic that was cashing in on abortba's train wreck Where after Nick left Judy for years when she was going to abort it. But she didn't and years later Nick is told to come back and finds out the kid wasn't aborted and Judy killed herself or just died. And then Nick kills himself shortly after since he blamed himself.

Nothing about adoption though or hallucinations.

I think my problem lies with the fact that you've put a dewlap on a bun with breasts. For a flat chested bun, the dewlap covers the entire chest/neck area and gives it form, acting like a pseudo-breast or a big poofy collar.
In your piece, it's too small and simply looks like a mound of fur or third boob.

Overall, it looks fantastic. But that one detail just doesn't work for me.

I've had him do readthroughs of my TT stuff for advice, but aside from that no.
I was a bit skeptical about sending him any parts of the main fic that I ended off with Stranded, because he'd probably want to see the earlier chapters which were AWFUL. If you read Horns, you'll see that I hadn't written anything in a long time.
Also, because at the time writing it I didn't want to get labeled an edgelord who only coasted by on shock value. So, I never really shilled it. That's probably why people are only know discovering it.
I'll add shilling it to the list of "stuff I might do later." Because it's gotten a rather positive reaction, especially compared to what I thought I'd get.
