My "CGA" art is just done in paint.net, using the color palettes on Wikipedia's page of 8-bit computer palettes.
I still haven't found a CGA paint program that lets me set my own canvas size.

Question for the whole thread: how do you choose poses for characters in your drawings? I have no clue how to come up with good/interesting poses without directly copying them from references.

Another question, since there isn't an artistic improvement thread right now: how do you get better at anatomy? I get the broad strokes of it; you practice drawing from life with the goal of gaining an understanding of how the bones, muscles, etc. shaped and arranged in 3D space. The mental aspect of that is what confuses me... I don't know what I should be thinking about or focusing on, when I draw, in order to gain a better understanding of that 3D configuration.

As it stands, when I draw from life I feel like I'm just copying the forms and not really getting much actual understanding of them (in terms of 3D spatial reasoning, anyway -- I think I do get some understanding of arranging them as 2D projections, which works for some perspectives). What's the secret to it, beyond just practicing a lot? (Or rather, how do I practice -better-?)

Study anatomy, draw anatomy. Break everything down into simple shapes then build it back up.

Maybe something you can try is doing a study. but instead of looking at the whole figure, start dividing them up into many shapes.
Like when you look at an arm, instead of just feeling out lines in relation to each other. Try drawing the arm with all muscles -as if you were drawing it without skin. If you get what I mean.
