I've only heard of people having issues once or twice, and it was because they were claiming to be the artist's character even though the artist used F-List too.

Tons of profiles use artwork that doesn't belong to them, hence the common "art doesn't belong to me, will remove at owner's request" and such.

Literally every single one of my profiles, I don't own any of the artwork. In almost two years, I've only gotten two art takedowns. One of them was from the faggot who got buttmad that I unfriended him, and I just happened to be using a couple pieces of artwork that he had commissioned in the past, so those got removed. The other was someone crying that I "stole their OC", even though their "OC" was literally just a renamon with a scarf, so that image got removed as well.

You don't get any ban or strike against you or anything, you just get the image removed from your profile. Even so, those images that got removed, I still use them in ad posts, they're just not listed on my profile.

It used to be a reportable offense, but F-list is so fucking gigantic and verifying original artist and owner is such a pain in the ass that a few months ago they stopped bothering unless the reporter does the legwork themselves and THEN files the report.

So it can still happen, but it's much rarer now. Just don't use art from people with a history of having a stick in their ass AND/OR are too big to bother reporting every single art thief on F-list. For example, Meesh, Gideon, and Max Blackrabbit are all safe bets. Lord knows how many Zigzag profiles are out there. On the other hand Jasonafex, or however you spell the dude's name, and whoever is fucking his butt these days are notorious for shooting down profiles left and right.

Assuming you don't become popular you can use just about any art, but use Japanese artists for extra safety if you're really worried.

See, when I first encountered the picture I didn't notice the lack of fur detailing on anyplace besides the ears, and at this point it's become the face of my character for so long I have trouble letting it go. The skin color is so tan I usually just try and pass it off as orange fur, which is what I tend to go with anyway, but if I were truly looking to clean up the profile in a large way, that'd be one of the first things to go.
