I really do hate that trope; as you said Judy isn't a bad cop, but she isn't a great one either. As much as she wants to make the world a better place, there are at times where she is hindered by her desire to prove herself.

She didn't call in backup for Weaselton, she went over her boss to take a case, she threatened a mob boss in his own house when no one at the ZPD probably knew where she was at, she took a civilian into dangerous situations, and they could have just taken the suitcase INSTEAD OF THE WHOLE TRAIN CAR! Sure, all of those worked out in the end, by hell was she lucky with quite a few of them.

As for "held back by Nick", I STILL don't know where that comes from. He definitely doesn't have the same drive as Judy, but he doesn't seem like a lazy dumbass either. He still had to come up with hustles, go all around town to get his supplies, convince people to buy his products/sell him their products, make sure all of his paperwork was in order. His one mistake was probably being too greedy and not wanting to pay taxes. I highly doubt he would "hold back" Judy; she would be the one making split second decisions and pushing them forward, while he would be the one looking long term and keeping them on track.

The 'dragged down by nick' thing is just flanderization or lazy/incompetent characterization.

In the movie he was snarky, almost sly and carried this "I don't care" attitude. In most fanfic, writers paste that onto him and ramp its worst qualities up to eleven. They ignore that his becoming a police officer and shifting his attitudes was a major part of his arc.

It's a real shame. There can still be that wildehopps dynamic after the arc, but it requires writers have a good grasp of both Nick and Judy's character and *how they've changed.* It doesn't happen often.

Judy is taken to another world or something in the prequel. Where Drew (the main character/self-insert) was a scientist to experiment on Judy. Where they then fall in love with each other. And Drew helps Judy escape back to Zootopia.

The sequel has a number of things happen.

My man, I want to preface what I'm about to say with the fact that I LOVE Starship Troopers. I like the setting, I like the CGI, I like the art direction, costumes, and bugs, I liked the realistic brutality of a war with animalistic, scythe-armed bugs.

But the movie was one of those 'so bad it's good' deals. The only good actor was Ironside and he had to REALLY try with the lines they gave him. Literally everyone else brought the movie down and it suffered immensely for it.
