Nick is there, Judy is also there being a badass, they play off each other, but also at times are given time alone.

Namely where an author wants to bring awareness to a topic or issue. This topic being child/human trafficking along with child and adult rape/molestation and how victums cope with it.

It's heavy handed. Like fucking seriously. But the writing is still pretty good. But holy shit it wasn't a fun read.

I think time and balancing the seriousness with the humor.

The movie had a lot of scenes cut out because it was already a very long animation, such as Judy decorating her room, and her arriving back to the police station parking the car and taking the metro/train back home and cleaning. Things just had to be cut to save time, and mostly it was the things the added no extra information or feeling.

Nick naked would've been humor, but Judy's emberassment of everyone else being nude, also yak remembering everything while Nangi remembers nothing was already a strong humor factor... there was no need to one-up it with making Judy even more emberassed, so they dropped it to save time and make us focus on the actual narrative of the story.

I'd personally argue more no than yes, simply because furries are usually anthropomorphic and have exaggerated/unrealistic features (eg. "Sparkledog") while Zoosonas largely stick to the actual physical characteristics of the original animal in an attempt to keep it at least semi-canonical.

It's like you said after this, the reason is that there is no respect for the original work.
Borba tried to cram is vision of a stereotypical group in both Nick and Judy, without considering the previous character. Those are the bunny and the fox we know, those are their hollowed husks with transplanted another brain. How one can see that? Simple, you substitute them with something else (for example a potato and a tomato) and you can see that the work doesn't change a bit.
Zaush took the right interpretation... for the first couple of pages. Then they are simply puppet that can take cocks the size of their arms with ease. One can say, hey it's a porn comic, but that doesn't mean that you can treat well established characters like an usual furry cocksock.
