Literally the only reason that's the case is because they had to forfeit their marketing/merchandising money to redo the entire movie 3/4 of the way through. If they had the same merchandise funding as, say, Frozen or Cars, it'd probably fucking blow every movie out of the water due to all of the unique characters and settings.
