Neither am I, I use krita. It's free (as in freedom) and I use it for drawing in general.
As >>10933967 noted, there are many ways to do it. I'm actually not playing with the color balance of the entire picture, because it would mess up backgrounds. I just use the "select by
similar color" tool, then on a separate layer fill it with a color of my choice, then play around with blending. Sometimes "multiply" works best, sometimes "Color HSL", just try out different options.
I could probably make those look much better if I wasn't a lazy fuck.

Like the other anon said, messing with hue/saturation sliders are the easiest method and can be done in a variety of programs. Photoshop will give you more options though, you can use a variety of overlays to get exactly what you want instead of hoping you get the result you want from hue/sat.

It was extremely good. It starts off slightly melancholic, starts ramping up the sadness, with a few spikes here and there, but the last chapter hit me like a god damn freight train. Literally cried.
I like the fact that there isn't any Lapidot, and that Jaspis is shown as an equally fucked up relationship on both sides, without making Lapis look like a fragile cinnamon roll who can do no wrong. Also helps that shipping shit is kept to secondary plots.

It was a really cute, long fic with a focus on Lapis and Steven, and from what I remember it treated Jasper pretty well/didn't demonize her.
I've written a few, I would say just keep practicing short little stories to get characterizations down and pay close attention to how you're having the characters interact with each other so it doesn't come out OOC and retarded. And don't be afraid to post it, criticism is good and nothing's perfect.
