The dungeon labyrinthes are seriously the worst part of Ever Oasis. Every part of them is RNG hell, and there are 3.

The strongest/higher tier weapons all require drops from them, and it's completely random if any will show up, and some require as much as 7, when you may not even get 1 a run. (And all you need said weapons for is...to do more labyrinth runs, it's the only challenge left in the combat) And if you forgot to take a miner/digger, fuck you! If said spots even appear to at all!

There are four/five types of rooms, which come in four color that change the meaning of which one each is every run, and the types are: start/midboss/pre-boss room, chest that spews enemies you have to defeat, trap room, chest with a fake room, and a healing room.

The room that has multiple chest is completely randomized to contain one fake chest, which you ALWAYS seem to end up choosing first to the point it feels lucky to actually get a real treasure chest, ever and these contain materials you can't get anywhere else and are uncommon rooms.

The room with chest spewing monsters makes me swear the labyrinthes HAD to be made with multiplayer in mind, because it always start with the monster chest releasing two enemies, and you have to kill one or two for it to show up again. BUT, you have to deal a certain amount of damage otherwise it'll release monsters (and will immidiately become invulnerable after a certain damage so you can't even speedrun through them). I said multiplayer because a # of times, the room is huge, and you -can't- reach the chest in time to whack it, so it starts releasing monsters and is invincible the whole time.

Trap rooms have switches you puah which will either unlock the way or release traps/monsters (and if you're unlucky, seal the room till they're dead), and they are totally randomized as well with no tell whatsoever.

And the monsters themselves. Abuse the /shit/ out of i-frames just to keep you from beating them too fast, and take forever to kill.

One detail that irritates me about the combat in Ever Oasis is that for the most part any damage your party takes generally comes to the fault of the AI controlling members you're not currently using. Not sure if I'm a fan of the weakness system either, it also fucking sucks that all those gathering nodes in basic dungeons for the most part essentially require you to Aqua Gate out and swap people over to even acquire what they have.

In the end, I think the game would benefit if you had a smaller pool of party members with more abilities than have every resident be an option, Aqua Gate carries this design decision so fucking hard. Last time I played, I was up to finding the lizardgrill village.

I should also say that if you thought that your choice in monster slabs for the labyrinth (ie there is 1 fixed one and 3 you can choose) doesn't always matter.

There could be one fixed Gold Serpent Slab, and you place 3 Silver Serpent Slabs and still end up having to occasionally fight armored bugs/beasts that have nothing to do with your choice like it's a Bethesda game and you thought your choice would actually effect the outcome.

And even if say, there is still that Gold Serpent and you put two Silver Serpent slabs, but also put in a Copper Beast slab, you can prepare to fight a dungeon of mostly beast enemies!

Why does this matter? Because only certain weapon types are strong against some monster types, and in some cases WEAK to them, so if you say, bring along two Drauk to fight serpents and use a Wand for magic, but end up fighting a bunch of beetles, get ready for an awful slog of a battle that takes forver because the Drauk do piss damage against armored/bug enemies! (And your wand requires charging to use a useful attack, which enemies will do whatever they can to interrupt -they nearly always target the player character as well, they somehow always know who's in control) Oh, and only the main character can change weapon types, and only at the oasis. Hope you didn't forget to switch to the right one!

And if you ever get caught in a corner, you're pretty much boned if you don't heal, and learn why you get so many auto-revives at the end.

And the absolute worst part of all this is the labyrinths don't even get dedicated warp points that say they are "x labyrinth," so you forget where they are. In fact, only the first one gets a warp point right next to it, the other two make you trudge along a room or two Every. Single. Time. you want to do them but haven't an aqua gate next to the entrance.

I'm running a 4790k, which the only real difference seems to be a slightly higher base clock, and to this day I have no qualms about it for average use case reasons. Also running a gtx980, and can run just about everything I throw at it still at 3440 x 1440 60hz max settings no problem. Maybe something super high profile it might dip just below 60, but even with some minor tweaking that's no problem.
If you care for retro titles that look better on a CRT, I'd advise never letting go of that card, it's the most powerful card that still has a integrated DAC for VGA out.

Wholeheartedly agree, I actually have a legitimate reason for getting a i7 (Don't want 60hr renders turning into 90hr renders for no reason), but most people seem to rarely use more than 50% of one core max regardless of (modern) CPU. I did go for a 980 (~late 2015) instead of something slightly cheaper 'cause of VR (Which hasn't panned out yet, waiting for headsets with reasonable (^1440p per eye) resolutions first.) but even so now I'm glad I didn't shoot lower.

They did for a while, although that number was in reference to new cards from retailers. Taking a quick look on ebay, they seem to be going used for somewhere between $200 at the absolute lowest & $400, usually about $350. For some inane reason my card seems to be going for ~$500 at the moment, probably not gonna have SLI in the near future.
