Skyrim just really needs more 'doing' things beyond Bandit/-Mancer/Draugr dungeon runs. The general gameplay of TES has never been overly great, but this one in particular is simply bad in this regard since the quests are just weak.

I'm largely experimenting with sex mods to see if I can have a mini-CoC of some kind going on, but from personal experience most of the Devious/ZaZ-related mods end up requiring you to job hard or get caught out by that one generic enemy who out of fucking nowhere deals does three times more damage than his cohorts in order to effectively experience their content. After you get something like Sexlab Defeat + Death Alternative, anything else at that point just seems...excessive for player defeat, especially when you could reload a save. And it kind of defeats the purpose if you deliberately lose to try out the content for yourself.

Elder Scrolls always was about combat and exploration rather than roleplaying. The games are technically RPGs design-wise but play more like hack-and-slash.
What carries them, in addition to solid combat mechanics and well-designed quests, is the fact that the lore is weird but makes sense, subsequently the world is weird (and only mostly makes sense) and there's supposed to be this feeling of wonder, excitement and occasionally awe when discovering and exploring a new ruin - which dungeon design ought to encourage.
Daggerfall at least hinted at it, and every dungeon was unique in its own way thanks to procedural memes.
Morrowind had it in full effect, being utterly alien.
Oblivion had it in spots and places, like the Thieves' Guild final quest (and other large Ayleid ruins suddenly towering above you in the middle of the forests.)
It's almost completely gone from Skyrim. The only place that made me drop my jaw was Forgotten Vale.

Add to that needless simplefication of mechanics and endless radiant quests and it's no wonder Skyrim isn't fun for long.

Morrowind is the best overall imo
Daggerfall is good too but I think its too archaic and is more quantity over quality.
My favorite part of these games though is the variety of builds you can have and how the quests often encouraged uses of a builds various strengths, such as being able to jump up a steep cliff of levitate above it.
Morrowind in particular is good not just because its setting is alien but because you are expected to actually learn it and make use of the services present in the in game world, such as Silt Striders at major towns as a form of fast travel or visiting the local temple to offer prayer and be granted various buffs. Its one of the best examples of immersing the player into a game's world with its game mechanics. Unlike Daggerfall in which most of everything is procedural and samey, Morrowind is hand placed and designed, enhancing that immersion.

The more I think about it the more I wonder how they managed to not get rid of the series' endemic problems, Bethesda disease: shitty melee, shitty voice acting, meaningless quest outcomes and empty towns.
Daggerfall was the last game where melee combat actually felt halfway satisfying, and they didn't have much in the way of VA, but even there most quests didn't really affect anything and towns were half-empty all the time (which is probably owed to technical restrictions, so they get a pass).
I wonder if it's time for Elder Scrolls to be Witcherised. Not the entire system, just the four points mentioned above. Skill+attribute system can be returned to what it was like between Morrowind and Oblivion.

That's absolute cancerous garbage, somebody said something about good dungeon design encouraging exploration/immersion and this is part of that. Quests aren't cleverly designed to make you think about what you have to do, they're just a list of tasks, some dialogue, and probably crammed in a machine-generated interior cell.

Actually I have to add that all of Skyrim's ~amazing~ features were actually planned for Oblivion and extensively talked about, the goal was to give each NPC goals and needs on top of their daily schedule as part of the radiant system. Of course to nobody's surprise Bethesda managed to fuck it up in not one, not two, but three different games and it's still not there in FO4. What's really painful to swallow is, as a writer and long-time modder, I can really appreciate the incredible foundation that the Elder Scrolls games provide. I'm not sure what they're doing with their millions, but I do know that for the same amount of money I'd be able to do at least triple of their delivered work with a mere fraction of the bugs.

It's just sad, seeing such a great franchise mismanaged by talentless frauds and incompetent retards.

Argonians are objectively best in a few TES games.

Kobolds can be broken in several editions of D&D.

Lizardmen are the poster boys of Warhammer Total War 2, beating out the elves for all the goodies and also being the stars of the collector's edition.

Only instance i can think of where the scaly option hinders you is Diddy Kong Racing. Krunch is objectively the worst racer.

Poison immunity I know is pretty great when it comes to Morrowind and its traps, I don't know about Arena/Daggerfall but I thought they're pretty underwhelming in vanilla Oblivion especially with those fucking Bretons having nice boosts. Skyrim they're fine and have a good fallback, but Bretons again and Orcs I think were the better races, one less magic resist enchant for the former and a raw damage daily spell for the latter are hard to pass up in a powergaming sense.

Since you cant fight underwater anymore (but can still be attacked...), there is no underwater exploration and thus, Argonians no longer have one of their standout features. They can still breathe underwater but it doesn't even matter.

Argonians were always kind of geared toward agility/stealth builds even from the Arena days at least as far as lore was concerned, their underwater breathing and poison immunity made them without a doubt the best race in Morrowind. Daggerfall? Well, they didn't actually have any special advantage and your starting stats are determined by your class despite what the game tells you. Actually a lot of the "racial abilities" in later games are class-dependent in the early games things like "Adrenaline Rush" was originally a thing for the Acrobat class.

Now, Morrowind changed all of this and gave Argonians their racial attributes that we expect them to have. Oblivion continued it, and of course Skyrim fucked it all up just like everything else. Even if we had kept the Arena/Daggerfall-style of character build that was heavily focused on classes rather than races it would've been washed away when Skyrim did away with classes entirely. (except for NPCs, of which all have a class because they're still using Morrowind's engine)

Who knows what the next game will hold but I sincerely hope it isn't in Black Marsh because it will effectively kill Argonians off as viable waifus. After Fallout 4 it's clear that Bethesda needs to go bankrupt before they wreck anything else, who knows what kind of atrocities they'll commit if they're let loose on the poor Argonians.
