I have no talent for drawing, so probably not, but I can bet you most art critics can't create great art themselves either.

I mean, just look at the heads in the image. They have a very clean, high detail CG look, but then the hair lookes slapped on with a basic brush. The same with the clothes. They're low detailed paint, while the hands and feet look like they were made with digital scans or CG. Its like someone painted clothes and hair on a photograph.
As a practical example, imagine if the mona lisa's clothes were drawn on with crayon. That would look terrible, just like this.

It's not the fact that he's drawing Skaven with normal females (I am well aware that the Warpspawn supplement for Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play features a female Grey Seer as an antagonist), it's the fact that he's ignoring every single aspect of the Skaven aesthetic in his character designs. There is nothing, not a single thing, in his pictures that indicates the rat-person in question is a Skaven and not some generic fantasy alternative. No trinkets, no symbols, no runes, no clothing, no weapons... There is simply nothing to tie his designs to the Skaven. Not to mention that when they appear next to a human they seem to be absurdly tall, while almost all Skaven are shorter than the average man (with the notable exception of the Stormvermin, who are also swole as fuck which his characters clearly aren't).

So, all of the arguing about Skaven made me decide to try my hand at writefagging for the first time, if for no other reason than to produce smut that keeps as close to the lore as possible. Here is the first part in all its terrible glory:

I think the problem for me personally when it comes to trying to make a skaven romantic with any kind of character outside of their race is that everybody in Warhammer thinks their superior to everyone else. Like the Skaven worship their horned god, the empire has a whole myriad with Sigmar being the leader of the pantheon, etc etc. It's encoded that everyone literally hate each other. Which means you have to break a little bit out of the setting lore to fit the whole PofG theme.

If you're not consistent with the lore, why set it in the warhammer universe? You can't write to the setting of any universe and then not adhere to the rules of that universe. Otherwise, it might as well be set in its own universe.

And that's exactly why I set the story in Under-Altdorf. The Skaven living there are canonically obsessed with human culture from the city above them to a degree that other Skaven find unhealthy at best and downright disgusting at worst. In Under-Altdorf they've adopted human mannerisms and gestures, decorate their warrens with human trinkets and baubles, and in some cases even wear human clothes (in one of the Thanquol books he notes a member of Under-Altdorf's council is wearing a suit of Imperial plate armour modified to fit his frame and with all the logos shaved off). The wealthy and powerful are balls-deep in appropriating human culture, so if any Skaven can rationalise away bumping uglies with an inferior surface dweller it would be someone powerful (such as our Grey Seer) from Under-Altdorf.

And of course it's impossible to make interracial rat-person sexytimes in the Warhammer Fantasy universe without disregarding canon in some way. I'm merely attempting to keep any breakages to a bare minimum and maintain the 'feel' of the setting throughout it all.
