If the last arcs are anything to go by, you people would love any character as long as they do something useful and cool, no matter how much you hated them.
People hated lars, and now hes best boy. Now yes, there was a bunch of people who liked him in secret, but in general people got mad at the idea of lars being important instead of the main gems. But after the zoo arc came out, even with all of its problems, lars became the new beloved character. Someone who for 2 whole seasons was a nobody became the best character. Why? Because they gave him focus. And that was all he needed.
If they gave ronaldo actual focus and made him not an annoying selfish one dimensional cunt, people will end up loving him. If they gave lapis, peridot, garnet or pearl an arc, people will say they are the new best gems. All you guys need to change your mind about a character is that the show starts focusing on them.
If jasperedemption ever happens, everyone will become a jasperfag. If peridot starts being useful instead of a comedy chimp, people will go back to love her. If lapis gets an arc, people will love her again.

I think Peridot did very well in the second half of Beta and in Earthlings.

Like any of the characters, Peridot can be generalized as two parts. One-part insufferable shit, the second-part thoughtful and charming and useful in her own way. Obviously when they focus on the other characters, there may not be enough time to write the thoughtful side of Peridot into things.

it's not the best episode ever but i really like steven floats and it's really just steven and the gems interacting. no action scenes or deep lore. but it's enjoyable because they're good characters who have an entertaining dynamic. it doesn't matter what they're doing. you can just stick them in a room together and watch the results

Reminder that every character is going to have periods where they're not in focus and seemingly useless. Personally I think Peridot and Lapis have gotten it the worst and SHOULD have been used better and that it's OK to think of that as bad writing if you want to.

The problem comes when you stick to that idea even if the show turns things around in those areas. I've seen fans who still won't give Lars a chance even after everything that happened in the last bomb. I'm not talking about "Oh I kinda like him now" either, I mean "Oh I'm not being manipulated into liking him, he hurt Sadie and I hate him" sort of thing.

Venting is healthy, but don't be delusional when you get what you want. You can't have it both ways.
