In these chapters Autzen, an autistic buizel, needs to use the bathroom, but is too scared to use the airplane toilet's loud noise. Read (well, skimmed to some extent due to time constraints) through the rest of it, and it seems my hunch that you'd pull off the werewolf scene impressively well was right. Emphasizes the feral nature of Gordian-as-werewolf, while also a not-so-subtle reminder that good Drow are still Drow. After all, how many other worshippers of a good deity would reminisce about the days when they screwed ankhegs?

While I was a bit uncomfortable with the orgy further on due to the element of coercion inherent to it, I could appreciate how it tied into the rest of the story and it helped to develop the relationships of the characters involved in a way I hadn't quite anticipated. The battle scenes weren't half bad either, but I'm not the best judge of such things.

All in all, it was worth the read and I'd welcome the opportunity to see more of Dirz'ae's adventures in the future, sexual and otherwise.

The human orgy scene wasn't to my specific tastes, but it fit the theme of the story and the characters, and I still found it enjoyable. It was slightly jarring that she switched quite abruptly from loathing to moderate acceptance within about a sentence or two, however.

I also would've liked to see more worship and tactile description in the werewolf scene, but, again, that's my specific taste and the whole scene was very enjoyable.

Characters felt believable and held mostly consistent traits. Speech can be somewhat... anachronistic? at times, though. Lots of modernisms like "Yeah", "Well, ...", "Right?" alongside more formal speech patterns, but it doesn't detract much from the story.

In terms of the actual story, I don't have much knowledge going in about D&D-and-related settings, but it does a decent job with exposition, clueing the reader in on what's what without feeling overbearing. Enough backstory to lend character, but without bogging down the rest of the story. The implication of Zardiene's torture being, well, an implication.

Overall, a very nice story, if somewhat broad and unfocused in places.

Unrelated, but have you read Bloodmajiq by Alexis Flower (they also make I Roved Out, which happens to have been updated recently)? The feel of it would probably be right up your alley.

Well, you could always take inspiration from that classic work of literature, The Invisible Man.

You may have heard of it.

The bit in the orgy scene was supposed to feel like a sudden flash of insight; a moment where she goes from logically accepting "abusing and humiliating slaves is wrong" to genuinely understand and empathising with why it's wrong. I can definitely see why it would feel jarring though, it might have been better for her anger and resentment to linger for a while even after making that mental leap.

The point about language is an interesting one. I deliberately wanted Dirz'ae's speech to feel quite relaxed and casual compared to Zardiene's stiff, formal tone, but in the doing so may have made her sound too modern. I'll have to keep that in mind if I go back to writing about these characters.

I'm glad you liked it overall though! It's really nice to know it broadly worked as a story and not just as a piece of pornography. There's a lot of stuff there which I've never tried writing before - the big battle scene first and foremost - so I'm glad these parts didn't drag.

the orgy epiphany mostly worked for me, and felt like a crystallisation of something that could have been building since long before that day. A little more reflection on what that "ugly realisation" said about who she used to be might have made her sudden acceptance of her own pleasure feel a little less abrupt following her earlier attitude both to it and to the men.

Understandable. Writer's block happens to all of us. Effective solution for me is to open a new textfile and begin writing whatever comes to mind. Quality, cohesion, even competence do not matter, only putting sentences on the screen. Journal entry, short story, character profile, concept for new architecture for a linked list data structure, angry letter that will never be sent, etc. Act of forming sentences and typing them greases gears, allowing brain to focus on what content actually needs to be typed. Looking damn good so far, Azimuthflirt (is that what you go by?). I do think it might be a good idea to break up a few of the paragraph blocks into smaller segments since it's a bit easy to get lost in the middle, but the actual world building and important bits are very interesting.
I've certainly never seen a setting quite like this before. The influence from Ancient Rome are obvious, but the mixed/anachronistic tech levels and terminology make for something unique. The naming convention for the empire, for example (calling it the "PubCom", that is) is something I'd expect to see in a YA dystopian novel, but it's oddly fitting here.

I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

I started working on a story after finishing Crash 1 in the new trilogy collection on PS4.

You could also give AO3 a go, especially if you're doing fanwork. It doesn't have some of the features I liked about FFN (PMs, robust statistics, system dedicated to connecting writers and editors, etc) but it doesn't have those for a reason (mostly to make it much more difficult to harass and abuse creators).

Read something interesting earlier, thought it might be helpful even though it's about script writing rather than prose writing. (From Megan Ganz.)

>The best thing I ever learned about script writing has come from working on Community. The creator, Dan Harmon, had us write these things called 'spit drafts,' which is basically an outline for your script. It's the shape of that script. You write out the script scene by scene with dummy dialogue that you'll later replace with actual jokes. For instance, the character of Jeff walks into the room and Jeff says, 'Here's the point where I say that we should all go get a sandwich.' And then the character of Annie will say, 'I don't want to do that.' And then another character will say, 'I have a joke here.' You can have them do whatever you want, but you just have to get through the scene and have all of what needs to happen in that scene baldly stated.

If you're stuck and you feel like you have writer's block, this is a really helpful method because it distinguishes between, 'Okay, do you have story problems or are you having a hard time writing the dialogue?' Also, when you write really quickly, you end up writing really good jokes anyway, it's almost as if you trick your brain into thinking it doesn't matter.

If there's anything I'd have to add from a prose-writing perspective, it's "when you're in the preliminary stages of a story, just put words down." Getting too far into your own head is your worst enemy when you're writing. You can edit later, write now. Write until you can't think of anything else to write and when you reach that point, you can go back and edit and figure out what's worthwhile, what can go in the bin, and how to bridge together the worthwhile material.

It's something I have to periodically remind myself.

Excellent description of how I erred when writing this story. In All You Zombies, Heinlein demonstrates skill at understatement. From the "Mistake of '72" that is never fully explained, to the use of the commonly-known barkeep personality and barroom setting for a large part of the story, he keeps the narrative focused on the core paradox that is of interest to the reader with only the barest bending of an elbow to explain the moral degeneracy and sexual urge that makes it possible. I set out to fulfill your request in a similar manner. Then I began to ask questions, strayed down the sinful path of verbosity, and I fear I have written Starship Troopers when I set out to write All You Zombies.

Happy that you are enjoying the story. To know one's work is appreciated by others is a rewarding feeling. Chapter 3 up. Am confident that character development feels organic, and is in line with intent of request, but would appreciate critique.

I've had to research so much weird shit since I started writing, from native american longhouse building techniques to post traumatic stress disorder.

There's so much inspiration to be found in nature though, spotted hyenas, seahorses, cuttlefish, sea slugs, praying mantises, you name a fetish and there's probably an animal out there that expresses it in some way.

The cool thing about insect colonies is that they're generally 99% female, in ant colonies for example the only males are the winged drones who leave the hive to breed, the workers, foragers, the queen and even the warriors are all females.
That's gonna be a fucking dope environment for smut, though I kind of regret introducing the warriors as hulking killing machines who look like Mirelurks from Fallout 4 now, I'll have to find a way around that. Maybe they can be biological exosuits or something, designing sexy insects is going to be hard.

At minimum there's going to be the human-sized drones who will probably fuck in groups, the warriors who are basically going to be filling the role of the Equatorials, and the massive queen which is going to take the size difference to a whole new level, like the queen from Aliens.

That's a clever idea, it fits their culture too, I hinted at it a little in Purple Heart but their technology is mostly biological and they communicate through scent. Female werewolf in a future-fantasy setting. Worked hard to get a position as staff manager in a corporation, finds herself quickly reassigned after she fails to command any respect amongst her subordinates due to her fluffy exterior and cuddly, sweet demeanor. Her new position with the Energy Crystal Maintenance department is largely just lip service to her contract with the company, as the crew is largely self-sufficient and requires little maintenance of their own. She discovers that working in close proximity to the energy crystals has several side effects on her crew, as the magical hum never leaves the workers. Sleep is extremely difficult, although the higher-ups say rythmic physical and aural stimulation is supposed to be especially effective, and the werewolf takes it upon herself to help those affected - her solution being to schedule snuggle sessions with her crew, reading them bedtime stories and giving plenty of physical affection.

Did not feel comfortable with public announcement until this time due to external factors that could have required dropping the story. Due to shared experiences from childhood demonstrating his competence along with increasing sexual desire for him as they grow older, she finds him to be a worthy mate. Strong emphasis is placed on her expectation that they have children immediately, or at least begin trying to, so that she can establish her pack. Is this outline desirable? What improvements could be made?

Strictly, wild packs have an "alpha pair" while the rest of the pack are their offspring; concepts like betas and omegas are largely nonsense. Apparently it sprang from an over reliance on observing a couple of captive groups of wolves and then a big dose of confirmation bias in early studies, and the alphas are really just parents. When they need to have structures outside of a family unit, wolves (and dogs) are much keener on a clearly defined hierarchy than humans, hence the alpha/beta/omega like observations under the right circumstances. The whole "predatory species that works in groups" thing also tends to produce behavior that is really easy to attribute to things like an alpha/beta dynamic, since in a hunt it's going to be helpful to have one top decision maker.

If the werewolf is bigger/stronger/faster, she'd probably be heavily inclined to take the lead for any executive decision type stuff, but outside that would see things as coequal. Naturally expecting to be the initiator basically all the time, but seeking input for long term decisions and not occurring to her to throw her weight around to force things her way.

I had this Yugo/Amalia idea based on the Miss Ugly episode but I'm not sure where it could go. So here's a bigass greentext for a prompt.
