This reminds me of an idea I had for a TT story. Has anyone ever written in the perspective of a mammal going savage, or the family of one of the victims? The closest I can think of is the reactions we saw to Pandora going savage. I picture it as a sort of psychological horror, maybe they've seen family/friends go savage and they're afraid they're next or something.

I can imagine some body horror stuff; maybe some prey get it into their minds that if they got rid of the "predatory traits" (claws, fangs, etc) of a mammal, that animal would be safe from going savage. Hell, maybe even some predators, terrified of losing their minds, do it to themselves in a desperate attempt to save themselves.

You know, I wonder if the personal horror would be amplified if going savage wasn't some sort of terrifying downward spiral of anger and pain, but if it felt.. liberating. Like breaking free. If it felt good, natural.

And then you just start tearing people to ribbons and shredding faces, with your rational mind locked away in there somewhere, trying to process the viscera you're carving out of mammals with the cognitive dissonance of how right it feels to be hunting prey and dominating the weak, taking your rightful place on the food chain.

Maybe a mind would shut down trying to process that, recontextualize it after the fact as traumatic and bury it under shame, but maybe another mind might buckle under that conflict and welcome it, decide that this sort of primal violence is what they were always missing, and after the cure is administered they remain just as savage as before, but with the added benefit of having their higher faculties intact again.

This is a good TT, lot of interesting stuff to think about.

I love the huge differences in the characters as you draw them -- silhouette theory is something I try to stick to a lot and the juxtaposition of the big, fluffy Remmy against the wiry, animalistic Charlie and the mountainous, bearlike Al makes for some fantastic contrast
The poses help here, too, a lot of natural, fluid movement in their composition

but I think I'm most fond of their expressions and faces
you do a great job putting your own personal style and flavor into their looks while still keeping them recognizable and familiar

In many cases, prey-led nations / empires & kingdoms saw eye to eye just enough for prejudices to not really extend past "I am stronger, you are weaker". Even more so when both had monarchs of the same species. You might even call it a fraternal relationship at times.

But whenever a nation / kingdom / etc was led by predators?

Those were their equivalent of Rome vs Carthage, Greece / Macedonia vs Egypt / Assyria.

The general rule of thumb was that cultures were allowed to continue their existence, so long as their prey neighbors knew they kept their predator populations in check.

The few exceptions to the rule were their equivalent of Vikings / Mongols, which were typically predator cultures.

Even when the prey royalty from europe began colonizing the americas, they would be favorable to prey tribes, so long as they didn't interfere with the extermination of predator tribes.

The irony is that while prey tend to believe they were the originators of civilization, law, agriculture etc, it was actually wolves or some other communal pred species that had a high level of hierarchy & organization.

interesting, but I thing that considering the wide varienty of animals in a small area, animals as they evolved did not have the possiblity to form entire countires for their own species.

Logically just like portrayed in the natural history museum, alliances started to form in the tribal era, (zebra and lion tribe piece picture) and countries were formed according to these alliances.

They vere towns/villages dedicated for a single species, much like bunnyburrow is for rabbits, but it just like that has a few foxes and sheeps every place had a some degree of mixing.

So there are countries that has the population of a forest:
-bunnies, foxes, moose, wolves, sheep, hogs

Countries with the populations of the savannah:
-antelope, cheetah, elephant etc.

Counties of the arctic:
-polar bear, shrew, arctic fox, (seal and walrus)

And so on...

Zootopia is unique place from those countries because it doesn't just represent the mixing of predators with preys, but the mixing of these different ecosystems.

Not sure how much further I can expand upon this, except that in the zootopian universe, except that whenever there were genocides, they were (most of the time) prey led endeavors to exterminate preds, if they did not choose to be enslaved.

Even enslavement was not a guarantee of survival. Many predatory species ultimately became extinct due to Rome's colosseums (think Atlas Bears, European Lions, wolves / tigers that previously lived in / around their empire).

While not on the same scale, other civilizations did much the same, which would explain the extinction of the japanese / hokaido wolf species & so on.

This typically forced those species remaining to revert back to withdraw or form secretive societies, with wolves especially being persecuted and being forced to form networks in order to survive. Others would still tend to regress toward their own innate survival instinct. Whatever that may be. Tigers / big cats becoming more solitary, foxes becoming transient, etc.

Thus, prey ended up fulfilling their own stereotypes of various predators without ever realizing it until fairly recently. Within the past century, maybe.

Running under the assumption that the world Zootopia inhabits is the same as ours, with like continents and geographical landmarks, I have a running theory that supports a similar Old/New World dynamic like what had happened in the Americas.

The premise of this theory is predicated on domesticatable birds. For a predator species to come to a point where they no longer need to hunt other mammals, they need a steady supply of meat, whether it is birds or fish. In Europe, Asia, and Africa, there are a great number of birds that can be bread and domesticated for food. There are chickens, geese, ducks, guineas, and more, and that's not even including honey bees, which would further support civilization. The Americas have pretty much only got turkeys and a specific species of duck in South America, likely not enough to feed every predator on the new continents.

With no steady source of meat inland besides river fish (which again would not support anything larger than a tribe), predators would still prey on other mammals, and since it would be very dangerous to tend crops with the lands littered with tribes looking to eat you, it is also likely that cultivation was never able to grow past subsistence farming, making prey tribes (who are already small because they're getting eaten) smaller because they can't support large groups of mammals.

It's impossible to know when predator tribes started transitioning to domesticated turkeys, but I would say it started happening before the Old World sent their first explorers. I think even then, they would be so behind the civilizations of Europe/Asia that they would appear to be the same level of "savages", even though they probably don't eat each other anymore.

On the plus side, there'd be no plagues to wipe out large populations. There might be some diseases transferring from like species, and that might seriously damage a lot of specific species, but that's it.
