Yesterday's rain doesn't let up. Though surprisingly, the gray clouds that once blotted out the sun are now quite few and sparse, letting you once again see the azure sky and the golden sun.

And though the weather seems to have cut you some slack, the city doesn't. Now have to deal with a whole new crime. This time it's in the dead center of downtown, in an alley between two garrish appartment buildings.

Waiting at the scene is your partner, Osiris Malthus. Behind him are the usual reporters, gathering like flies around the yellow tape.

"Ya might wanna be careful. I think yer stomach won't be able to handle this as well as yesterday's."
"C'mon. It can't be worse than seeing what I assumed was a guy who got Kenshiro'd."
"What?"
"I thought he exploded."
"Oh, should've just said so. Anyways, we've actually got a body this time."

You make your way through a zig-zagging set of alleyways within the alley, before finding the carcass of a shark Faunus sprawled out in front of you.

Three markings can be seen on it, spanning his torso diagonally from his left shoulder to his right hip. The guts are spilling all over the ground, leaving an unsightly mix of red, green ,and grey.

"Ehgh. You weren't lying..."
" 'Course not. I'm actually looking out for you, rookie."

You kneel next to the body, getting a look of the wound itself.
For whatever reason, you didn't notice the fourth marking, which is the shortest of all of them, as well as the most shallow.
At first glance, it looks like a claw mark, but the individual markings are far too thick to be either that or a normal blade. You also notice that the part of the body that was "clawed" is simply gone. It wasn't torn off, it's simply not there.

You pat the corpse's pockets a bit, and find that it still has its wallet, with money in it to boot. It is his, as the picture matches up.
Inside the jacket, you find a letter. Unfolding it to read the contents, you find a bunch of nonsense on it. They're letters that don't make up a meanigful message, though you assume that's just code for something.

You shift your attention to the head a bit, getting a good look at those fangs. You also find that the skull has been fractured at the back, most likely from falling on the pavement.

He lets out a sigh, "Quite a slow day, how about we take a break Olive?" He asked. We've been out for about three hours, the captain is nowhere in sight.

The last time the captain caught us, she scolds us horribly. She's pretty much of a hardass to say the least.

Ciel of all people? I get she had a tight schedule on her hands, but something is off about her priorities.

Okay so basically a while back RWBY's volume 4 soundtrack came out. On it there was a song called BMBLB which was a love song from Yang about Blake. Naturally the shippers lost the minds and there was a shitstorm all about what exactly this new development meant. Fast forward to now where Blake's VA revealed that Jeff Williams just made that song for fun and it has no bearing on the actual canon of the show, and that it was made without any input from the writers. So now people are upset and stuff and people on tumblr are complaining about queerbaiting and some other stuff probably happened too but that's the gist of it

This whole ordeal feels like it should be nauseating to you, but a sense of familiarity suggests you are just immune to its dizzying effects due to repeated session.
Strange...how you've grown accustomed to these tests as compared when you first started out.

A man clad in all white with facemask and goggles extends his surgical gloved fingers for your tubes and extracts them one by one.
You can feel the lack of empathy he or she has in inflicting pinching pain to your arm to which he/she reads via the many monitors around.

"It makes my job much harder but you should really get some more augmentations. You make us look cheap, so I've provided some permits in your behalf."

The last tube gets yanked out much harder than the last as your doctor assembles the bloodied tubes in water sealed basin where your red blood flows freely like a curtain against the nightly breeze.
Your restraints promptly slide themselves free and upon closer inspection on your arm again, you don't even quite see where the tubes were once inserted, much less an ink of blood.

Your long legs feels a bit numb but still possesses enough strength for you to get up from your seat and give your limbs a short stretch.

The silvery floor gleam from their routine waxing and sterilization from which even the lightest speck will be eliminated to preserve its sheen.
But all that work... just to be stepped on.

"The floor ain't much to look at.", a deep voice catches your attention from behind.

A man clad in the same outfit as you are, takes his back from leaning against the entrance of the room you just came from.
His voice is raspy, like how a typical "inhalant" user would sound down at the black zones

"You on the other hand, are. Name's Cable. I just got assigned to you, babe."

He extends his exposed muscled arm towards you to present his hand for a shake.
It is clear as day that the entire skin on his arm has been replaced by some sort of dermal plating, adorned by scratches.
The bodily armour looks to end distinctively right at his jaw, where the scars tend to look more natural.

Out at the door he sees his sister waiting for him, Raye, which is odd since he usually walks home by himself (Raye doesn't like it but she's too busy at the academy to do anything about it). She tells his young brother that the principal has told her to come and talk to her with him.

At the principal's office, Jasper's mind is now wondering what could all this be about, it looks like his big sister knows something he doesn't but tries to act like she doesn't .She couldn't always fool him that easily. After some brief deliberation in his head, the principal finally starts to address why she brought the two in her office.

She says that Jasper cannot grow up to be a hunter. He does not possess a semblance unique to the profession of work to put it bluntly. Nearly all of the other children have already discovered theirs and the ones that didn't have accepted it and have started to make plans with their parents. Raye argues the he may be a late bloomer but the principal says it is a rare case if it doesn't happen in their pre-adolescent lives.
There are lab tests with Jasper's file in it that the principal hands to his sister about his aura levels; Raye denounces it, proclaiming that it doesn't mean anything.

Jasper without a doubt holds his older sister on a pedestal, not only as his only parental figure but also as a great role model.

A huntress, in need of supplies decides to head towards the closest city, Mistral, from an outlying village. Already familiar with the Mistrali wilds and fauna, she takes the off-road path to her destination to avoid bandits along the way. Hopping and dashing from treetop to treetop, she is approximately traveling at 200 km/h but has to stop every 2 hours to scout for surrounding Grimm.

Five hours later, another hunter ventures out from Mistral of his own quest to meet with the same outlying village the huntress was from, to offer some supplies with the elder there. Wary of the danger the lurks behind the every vast thickets of the forests, he takes the dirt path towards the settlement to avoid any Grimm confrontation. Taking the dirt path, the hunter is travelling at 50 km/h with his wagon of supplies at his back but has to stop every 3 hours to check and see for an bandits ahead.

There is about 9000 km between this village and the gates of Mistral. When the two hunters accidentally bump into each other out of coincidence (one that almost resulted in a fight), which hunter is closest to Mistral?

The offroad route is more probably to be a straight line, since the huntress doens't need roads and takes the fastest route since, as a huntress, she's still aware of the Grimm lurking around.

For them to bump into each other, the forest one has to meet the road one up front, looking into Mistral's general direction. Hence the road one is closer to Mistral than she is.

If we assume they met with the forest one being closer, than she had to look behind herself - in that case, the road one wouldn't have seen her, and it would not be "bumping into each other".

And the possibility that they were both equally far away from Mistral is nearly zero, since for that, they would need to both be on either the road or the rooftops (given they still need to see each other to bump into each other.)
