Absol have a lifespan of around 100 years, so I would not suggest taking one as a companion unless you can make arrangements for a home after you pass on.
Outside of that they are very skittish felines, so befriending one will take time and dedication. Once you two are close they will most often try to warn you about minor dangers - such as a banana peel on the floor - so don't believe every warning to be an apocalypse message.
