What really grinds my gears is that this picture, which is perfectly fine, and funny, was drawn by wolfjedisamuel, the sperg who crams more unnecessary labels on every square inch of all of his pictures than a lazy political cartoonist. It bothers me because this shows that he CAN just make normal-ass pictures with an amusing concept if he wanted to. He's a talented artist. He could. He just CHOOSES not to. Not to skew your playthrough too much, but from my experience and what I've heard, Gregg's route isn't as heavy or serious as Bea's. They both broach the topic of moving on and growing up, but they both approach the topic differently and from through character's different circumstances. That's not to say that Gregg's run isn't a good one, though. Definitely follow through with it and enjoy.

It's interesting. I have two pals who played this game. One doesn't care for emotional stuff and is kind of a surface level dude (not stupid) and he loved Gregg. The game is actually very clever in that it asks you what type of person you are right away. Gregg is the easy choice for someone not interested in heavy conflict.

For me, once Bea kicked me out of the car I felt I had to make her like me and I wanted it to be heavy

Gregg's third hangout is arguably the best in the game. People will try to disagree with this, because they want to fuck the alligator, but it has fun events and is fairly heavy. Mae's speech at the end of the game, when talking to her friends on the computer, is also much more emotionally powerful if you go the Gregg route.

Also, I said this months ago, but I think if Mae were left to her own devices, and we had no input or control, she would go the Gregg route every time. Mae came back to Possum Springs to be around her familiar friends. She didn't rush out and try to find Bea. She wanted to spend time with Gregg.

Bea was an old friend who she hadn't spoken with in eight years. She was surprised to see her, and could even tell Gregg that she thinks Bea hates her. They weren't close. Trying to reconnect with an old friend is a tough thing to do, and Mae was trying to avoid tough things. She just wanted to hang out with Gregg and act like everything was the way that it used to be.

The point of the Gregg route is that it forces Mae to accept that it's not. No matter how much she tries, her friends are moving on with their lives. It's narratively important, even if it doesn't seem like it is.

And to be fair, the scene where Mae reveals why she dropped out of college is far more powerful on the Bea route. Gregg sort of acts like an idiot and doesn't know what to say, while Bea recognizes how serious it is and says she wants to try to find her proper help.

Both playthroughs have their advantages. But I don't like it when people dismiss the Gregg route so quickly.

I think each of the routes has their strengths, and they both do try to approach a similar subject differently, about growing up, accepting change, and moving on. I feel like Gregg's route leaned more towards the first subject while Bea's focused more on the second, but they're the same themes at hear, just reflective of the person you're hanging out with.

Personally, I like a mixed playthrough, but I prefer the ending with Bea 'because' of the fact that Gregg's already Mae's best friend. No matter what you do, you already know that Gregg and Mae are cool and hanging out with him does nothing but reaffirm what you already know, but it's established right from the start that Bea has a problem with Mae. She doesn't want to be Mae's friend, and if Mae (you) doesn't put the work in to bridge that gap, then you feel that distance by the time you get to endgame. I found it a more satisfying ending because not only had Mae fixed her relationship with Bea, but she actively worked towards it and ultimately shows a lot of personal growth for Mae. Gregg's route isn't bad, it's just the hangouts were room for development, which I find necessary for Bea, but just extra for Gregg.

On the topic of couch conversations though, I definitely feel like people don't give Gregg enough credit. Straight up, Bea has answers and Gregg doesn't. I know my friend thinks that Gregg didn't really seem to care that much about Mae's problems, but he didn't have a solution, so instead he was doing the next best thing he could, which was trying to keep the conversation light, distracting Mae from her troubles, and keeping her mind off it. He couldn't fix her problems, but he was doing his best to keep her happy. You know, the whole "I don't need it to save me forever. I just need it to save me for today" thing.

okay, I think there were a few smaller problems, but that's not really a biggie,one thing to avoid in future though is the line "The usually bold and excitable fox". I know why you'd want to do it; it's weird to name the characters every single time you refer to them and so you're probably trying to introduce Gregg withouth saying his name. The problem is though, that you don't actually have to do that. It's a solution to a probkem that by-'n'-large doesn't exist. I know from experience that if you've got a scene with two or more dudes then there's no pronouns to differentiate, but careful use of description usually is enough for the reader to differentiate the "he"s and "she"s. In any case, feel free to throw names about willy-nilly, it's a lot less awkward to read.

Exception to that though: if we have yet to learn a character's name, then going by their description is fine for a time.

And lastly, though it's stupid to say this in a breathplay fic, but I think I'd freak out a lot more if my boyfriend fell unconscious and then stayed like that. A momentary loss of consciousness can be okay sometimes, but we're talking boxing match stuff here. As far as I know, being out for more than a few seconds is grounds to call an ambulance. I'm not saying don't put that in or suddenly rewrite it so that Angus calls 911, but that's a thing that stood out to me.

Finally though, keep writing. Like any craft you'll get better with time and practice.
