To a large portion of the US, coffee is what they serve at Starbucks, K-Cups from Nescafe, or "something for hipsters to sip through their fake mustaches." Most people don't have any desire to figure out what flavors great coffee can have. They either think it's pretentious or pointless (because they assume coffee will always taste bad).

Brewing expertly with a French Press does away with a lot of the flaws that normal US coffee has, it's easy to learn, and it produces a cup that is way better than anything sold at a chain. But it also doesn't shock people with super intense flavor before they're ready for it. Eventually some people find they love coffee and start moving to pour-overs, try chemex brewing, and either find somewhere to get espresso or buy a Moka Pot.

We have a drip coffee maker because I don't like the ones that use tabs (too much aluminium if you ask me).
But I never got the whole "drink coffee to stay awake" thing, I tried but it never kind of worked.
But I really like coffee substitute, especially malt coffee.

Just kidding, I like both coffees during my trip to Merano I had an Expresso and it was really nice, and strong, which is why I had to insert one or two sugar packages.

But at least I was able to sing in the St.Georgs Church in Merano.
