It honestly depends how involved it is, because it's literally tracing around each and every piece you want colored and then fiddling with the color balance until you get the perfect color. I think that one took maybe an hour and a half, whereas something like this only takes around half an hour. And I work on it off and on, so it could take longer.

My latest work is actually the Link one a few posts up, but my last request that involved a shit ton of monotony was one I did for the Maki ava. That was the one where a computer crash wiped out all of my progress and made me start back again from square one. I think that was the closest I've ever come to putting my fist through my screen.

I actually did use MS Paint for image editing before I ended up coming here before I "upgraded". Now I basically use a poor man's photoshop. Probably more of a homeless man's photoshop. And the monotony of it all just dulls your brain, so you end up chilling whether you want to or not. Listening to stuff helps keep you sane.

Now you can't show up without 3 kissu posts, a "nice blog", and a few "play or leave" posts. You make it sound like the thread was thrumming with life, and if that was the case, then I don't give a shit if there was blogposting in the background. Because that's what blogposting SHOULD be, background, not the forefront, in everyone's faces.

Let me explain: Whenever a thread has downtime, and people use that time to chat, it's whatever. May as well say something instead of nothing. And even better, if we have tons of stuff going on, that's fine too, if it's sprinkled in here and there.
But when we actually do get a few people in here and it's kinda slow, it gets drowned out by stale memes being shot back and forth it gets old real fast. It's more of an issue if it's a huge reply chain of 'no u' jokes and irk me. It's not even that I find the them doing it offensive, it's that I don't give a shit about other people's relationships, and having it rubbed in my face isn't exactly warming me up to the ones doing it.

That's the problem, I'd that people do form relationships through this thread, either through constant play with a single ava or through just shooting the shit in downtimes. Yes discord exists for a reason, but for the longest time I avoided even getting one, so sometimes the only form of communication an anon has with their favorite ava is talking with them, during dead hours or other times. People will form bonds, and no, you probably won't want to see it because when an ava gives attention to a person with an actual persona it makes you feel like a cuck, or that you're not as important, and I understand that. Paul's the most extreme example, but it's fragmenting those that are left, and leaving us with less and less people. If someone has a significant other, why would they erp? If someone has a favorite, why would they even bother coming to the threads anymore?

All that encourages is for this community to eat itself alive over time.

You can form bonds with people that doesn't become things like that anon. Yes, that does become a problem for the vitality of the thread. But at the same time, have you ever thought that the person behind your anime girl is a person too? That they're doing this to have fun? You can certainly come here to experience new things and new people, but sometimes you're not up for that, and that's where playing with people who are known quantities come in. Sometimes you have a shit day, and you don't want to gamble.

(I think you're jumping several steps ahead in this whole forming bonds thing anon. You can make friendly with people and not get into an e-relationship. Even if someone is a phenomenal ERPer playing with them again and again gets kinda boring. You'll want variety so they will still come to the thread and throw out a line because you never know what might approach you in that time of day.)
(I think that forging connections with people after ERP sessions can be great and allow you to do some really great things once you're more comfortable with sharing. Pretty sure people will be just fine with having a few scattered conversations here and there.)

But the bonds help, I have fun playing with my partners cause most of them know it's me, as petty and autistic as that sounds. I don't feel attachment to people who write porn with me, that's childish and honestly kind of destructive to do, especially in this sort of community. If people want to do it, then I guess that's fine for them. I don't feel like either side can be in the right here, though. There is no law that says 'don't post your blogs here', nor do I mind it in moderation. But even if the threads were better in ages past, I don't think it should go back to being a chatroom. Not a literal one, like some people use it for, anyway. Talk to people? Sure. Catch up? Sure. Mindless chatter, or back and forth teasing? Less so.

Unfortunately forming bonds is human nature. Given where we are and the type of people who would frequent these places, finding someone who shares not only your kinks but is enjoyable to interact with is bound to cause feelings to emerge. If we were normal well adjusted people, we would be socializing in the real world or over Facebook. I will admit, I'm very guilty of teasing, mainly because doing so is a good portion of the fun to me, building up to that point of actually doing something, or getting someone so hot and bothered by the teasing that they're forced to do something, but I can see what you're saying. Of course they're people, just like every anon is a person too. We all come here for similar reasons- a variation of loneliness. Even if it's not quite as direct as that, that is what drives a lot of the minds here. And while it's great to fix that for two people, that means it's all the more intense for those left behind.

Some people do shrug it off and do it well. Others go to the servers and never come back. The saddest to me is someone who posted everyday with little or no bites. I played with them, enjoyed myself, and asked for their discord. I found out chatting with them in private that they are a really good person as well as creative in real life.
