This is my favourite Tahu, setwise. There's nostalgia in the original but I'm a sucker for poseability. Never liked the 'organic' look of the Nuva masks and Mistika is just shit. Stars is cute but it hardly gives of the feel of a Toa
>>
>>6467202
>he doesn't know Hugebricks

>>6467205
I wasn't a huge fan of Nuva-masks either, but I can see what they were trying to do, especially with Tahu with semi-melted look.
>>
>>6467221
Oh, I know Hugebricks, but I don't follow his stuff 'cause he kinda creeps me out. Really makes sense now given the subject matter though..
>>
Sure, G2 (or rather Lego's idiocy) did a lot of things wrong, but what are the things you think it improved from G1?

>Trying to give Makuta a more sympathetic backstory (had 2017 happened, we could've gotten more of this)
>Doing away with the idea of the village leaders being a separate species from the villagers. Makes sense since they stopped giving a shit about Turaga after 2004
>Following on that, removing the Great vs Noble distinction that never really led to anything after 2001
>Avoiding the overused mutation plot device that plagued half or more G1 villains in some way or another
>Trying to not overdo it with technology- there were some very few guns here and there, but nothing over-the-top like 2007-2008, and most weapons were melee ones

I think there are more, but these are the ones I got off top of my head.
>>
>>6467340
>Following on that, removing the Great vs Noble distinction that never really led to anything after 2001

Sorry, I was talking about Kanohi there. Great and Noble Kanohi.
>>
>>6467340
> some of the more half-assed functions like the Phantoka/Mistika's combination gimmick or the Mata/Nuva's swing arms have been VASTLY improved
> six-shooters work extremely well and are well integrated into the weapons instead of being huge, separate pieces that you can't use for much else (Cordak), don't even work most of the time (squid launcher) or remind you of the fact that this is a toy for little kids (Rhotuka)
> some neat, unique features like the ones on Basher or Storm Beast
> not a single clone set
> no inane "he died from his shield getting poked by a shadow hand" shit
>>
>>6467340
Makuta and Ekimu were actually brothers on par with each other, rather than the extremely imbalanced "brotherhood" he claimed to have with Mata Nui in G1, kind of like a priest claiming he's brothers with God.
>>
>>6467340
No mask packs. What I mean by this is, the masks the Toa were collecting in-story (golden masks, MoC, masks of unity) all came in the sets. Rather than force you to buy booster packs in the hope of randomly getting a mask you want.
>>
why the heck were the 2016 bionicles discontinued so quickly?
>>
>>6467340
Nice colorful promo art that's more than just the set standing in some generic dramatic pose in a nondescript background.
Okoto was vast and pretty, but still had some dangerous areas. A welcome return to the roots after all the bland "everything here sucks" environments G1 kept using from '05 till the end. Although it's a shame we never discovered more of it, but the base idea was good.
Yeah it only lasted a few minutes, but we actually saw the Toa and other characters chilling in their recovered ancient city. It was like their home base, which gave some personal attachment to the backdrop. As opposed to G1 where they rediscovered Metru Nui but the story immediately took them away to random other places.
As shitty as they were, the mini comics included with the sets at least gave some context to what was going on. I always liked when the packaging and the instructions had bonuses like this.

And while there was more stuff wrong with them than right, I applaud that G2 at least attempted telling the story through web animations and a cartoon. Audio-visual storytelling is a key aspect of Bionicle, and its's also the bread and butter of other major, more successful toy franchises, like Transformers or, say, Ninjago. Though all in all both G1 and G2 suffered heavily from not taking full advantage of this.

for 'beasts' it sucks that they're mostly humanoid. lava beasts' blade-wings are just stuck on the back of his hands, rather than his entire arm build being some kind of foldout wings, maybe reverse knee-joints to simulate more of a bird/dragon look

So, all this talk about Shadow Toa in the previous thread made me want to make my own Shadow Toa team for my canon. I've decided they would be Matoran who submit themselves to the transformation willingly due to a number of reasons (power, grudges, etc). It's not the transformation that makes them evil, they're already pretty bad people (think Ahkmou or Vultraz) .For the "Stone" Shadow Toa I went with Ahkmou of course.

Thing is that I can't find someone from G1 to pick for the green and black slots. It seems I can't find someone even remotely villainous or misguided among Le and Onu Matoran. Maybe Vican could work (his "muh adventure" could be twisted into a "fun" loving villain, like an evil Lewa), but I still have no idea whom to pick among Onu Matoran. I remembered Mavrah being more of an antagonist but a quick read on BS01 shows that he wasn't really that evil. Should I think "fuck it" and go with him anyway or should I come up with an OC?
>>
>>6468780
I think his work on the Miru is directly affecting our progress with the MoUP actually. Our replica isn't technically a commission, so his other projects usually take priority.
>>
>>6469572
I guess that's a bit more reassuring. I wanted to be able to have it for a con this month and next month, and I have no idea if I'll have it in time since I've not heard from him for a solid month

This is my favorite Bionicle set of all time, of either gen, and of my favorite Toa.

There's just something for everyone in it. The mask is recognizable, but reworked. His build is imposing and regal as all FUCK. Red and gold look amazing together. His swords are huge and wholesome and create a board very well. Posability is of course great. I just think it's so damn aesthetic and functional and dammit I love it so much

I really like this thread, I love Bionicles and it's super comfy, so I hate to be getting all angry about anything, but

Is it really that hard to rotate your images? I was seeing this in the last thread, too. Just give them a quick rotate before you post them so nobody has to tilt their heads to see what's actually going on

All that said, these are pretty cool.
>>
>>6470535
So why WAS his Hau different?
>>
>>6470692
(Real-world reason) because they wanted a mask that better covered a Metru head. Regular Hau does fit but doesn't sweep back as far to concela the 'brain' and oesn't have a pin onnection, making it liable to fall of easily

(In-story reason) it's a stylistic difference, because Lhikan is not from Metru Nui (where the classic Hau shape is the norm. The implication was that Toa from other lands have slightly exotic-looking variants of the same masks, but sadly that was never utilised in sets ever again

I like half or more of the Inika masks, but only if I treat them like faces. The Kadin, the Calix and the Suletu look quite good for villains or really alien characters. The Iden is so so and the Elda and Sanok look like shit. Overall they also have that early 00s punk rock edginess that I find nostalgic. Only 90s kids can understand what I mean :^)

My problem is that I'm planning a Toa Inika/Mahri revamp/mix and I've yet to find a satisfying replacement for the Calix, Iden and Kadin, though. The Arthron, Tryna and Volitak just don't have that edgy quality I was talking about. I've toyed with the idea of buying a custom Kanohi off Shapeways but I fear the quality difference in person might be too big.

Back in 2007-2008, I thought Jaller Mahri looked like the prime Toa of Fire specimen.
When it was revealed that the 2008 Toa would be the Toa Nuva, I was really curious to see Tahu's new form and was devastated to see how shit he looked. And so, for a lot of time, I considered revamping Tahu by essentially making him a Jaller Mahri clone. I scrapped the idea since but I'm thinking of revisting it.
Am I just crazy or has anyone else ever thought about this? The Arthron even looks like an evolved Hau with a crown/horn added. Such a fierce Hau-esque glance, too.

I don't see why you shouldn't do it, the phantoka/mistika were really shit, and the majority of 2007 including Jaller was GOAT. Really anything would be an improvement. Not sure about the mask though looks closer to a Kiril without the cylinders or a Huna without the pharaoh beard. It doesn't have any of the Hau's distinguishing features.

2006 and declining sales are what went wrong. It wasn't a bad year overall, but the precedents it set that lego decided to coast on were the ones that hurt Bionicle the most. The Inika archetype was novel at the time, but everyone got sick of it because there were few new parts of any consequence released before CCBS. The building system never advanced past that point, and even regressed by 2008. Bara Magna was looking like a step back in the right direction, but it came too late, the damage was done. Pic related was the best thing to come out of 06, right along with Brutaka, Fenrakk, and swapping the orientation of the ball joint for shoulders.

>It doesn't have any of the Hau's distinguishing features.
It's hard to explain. I know the shape is completely different but I see the original Hau's noble and quiet fierceness in it.
It's like when they make a movie out of a book, and they choose this actor that looks nothing like how the character is described, yet you still praise the actor because they "do justice" to how the character feels in the book. I see more Hau in the Arthron than whatever the Mistika Hau was supposed to represent. That thing has no personality and that guy isn't Tahu.

I'll reply to the other stuff in another post because it was getting too long winded, and nobody likes walls of texts.

I'm taking another look at G1 masks for future usages and once again I find myself really scrapping the barrel to build some characters. I'm pretty postive that I'll use the Arthron and the Phantoka Miru for my Tahu Nuva and Lewa Nuva reimaginings but it gets tricky for the other 4. If you're picky like me 2002-2006 and 2008 are almost a non-factor for Toa masks. 2007 I felt was the best year for masks since 2001. I really liked this look they had finally found with the masks: they had the sci-fi appeal of the Metru Nui saga without looking bland, and they looked as good as the 2001 Kanohi while also fitting 2006's darker tone. Then 2008 comes along and the only Toa mask I like is the new Miru. I always wonder how these massive quality nosedives happen. It's as if whoever designed the 2008 sets made an effort to undo nearly everything good 2006 and 2007 had done.

>at the time I had always thought I was just nostalgic.
I don't know if it's just nostalgia. 2006 was a soft reboot that tried to undo some of the bad things from the previous years that had tarnished the franchise's reputation, like the Bohrok Kal and a lot of 2005 stuff, so you probably liked 2006 because it felt fresh yet familiar. Still, as >>6477985 pointed out Lego's efforts in 2006 still weren't enough. I think the biggest misstep was trying out that really alien style with the Inika masks. The memo they should've gotten from 2005 was clear: kids don't want loser monsters like the Hordika and the Rahaga, they want cool heroes like the Toa Hagah. The Inika hide subtle homages to the Toa Mata, but the prototypes heavily referenced them. So who knows who had the brilliant idea of saying "Nah, fuck that. Their masks should make the Kraahkan look like a kitten".

>what went so wrong?
Lego misunderstanding what kids want, I suppose.

Sure but it I still like it. I'm not a Halo fan so the resemblance didn't really hit me until later. In the prototype it looks even closer to Master Chief's helmet. It's pretty clear that the 2008 Toa were supposed to pander to kids who liked Halo, but at least the Miru looked like something a Toa Mahri could wear. Him and Onua also were the only ones who had a real weapon. They really fucked it up with the others.
>>
So has anyone ever made a moc of a real, accurate Turaga Lhikan? I know there are 3D printed Noble Hau's you can get, but what about something representing more of how he entirely looked?
On a similar note, is there a 3D printed version of a Noble Kiril? The one he officially has is the same mold as the one Toa Norik has, ntm it doesn't really look like a Noble Kiril anyway: moreso a Great Kiril. Maybe one that looks more like the one he had in the movie?
>>
>>6478660
Dume's Kiril is supposed to be the Noble version, a Turaga couldn't wear a Great Kanohi.
Now, Norik's the one whose mask is "copying" someone else. His Pehkui isn't the real form of an average Pehkui but an homage to a past hero who wore a Noble Kiril: all Toa Hagah have their Masks forged to homage past heroes.
We have no idea what a real Kanohi Pehkui looks like. Now you might wonder
>then why making him wear a Kiril if that mask isn't supposed to be a Kiril?
Because Norik and Iruini were originally meant to be Toa Dume and Toa Nidhiki before they scrapped that idea. The Kualsi was designed to perfectly mirror Nidhiki's head.
>if he isn't Dume just make another mask design for him
They probably ran out of new parts budget for that year.
>>
>>6478453
Yeah, I often find myself in minority when I browse Bionicle fangroups. Everyone seems to wank the Toa Metru and bash on the Inika. Personally I hate the Toa Metru and love the Inika. The masks were weird but at least they were interesting. But everything else was GOAT, from the color schemes, the tall and powerful builds and their fucking awesome light up weapons (with swappable light colors!). It's a shame that the Toa Mahri had to improve on the masks but downgrade some of their designes by using the retarded Piraka torso (as well as Kongu's caveman torso design).

Supposedly global demand for Lego in 2016 finally surpassed Lego's ability to meet that demand, so they had to cut some lesser performing shit to make sure the big things met demand for Christmas before opening a fuck ton of new factories for futureproofing. Do you have a sauce, anon? Also I love Bonkle but why not make a new theme entirely
Like, maybe take elements from Bionicle and HeroFactory and put them together? Six biomechanical protagonists arrive on a planet and all they know is that they're there to explore the place. Things get funky when they start finding ancient ruins and such, and there's a big mystery theme as to where they are, their origins, and the history of the land they now inhabit. Collectables don't necessarily have to be masks, but should be personal. Just, not like the Hero Cores which were all the same piece.

I just made that up in a few minutes and I want it.

Does anyone have any luck trying to do something different from vanilla with the Inika Kanohi? I'm thinking of the following stuff:

>painting them
I know it can be done since their rubber is hard. I've seen some pretty cool results too.

>having them worn by another head type (ie Metru head)
Is it even possibile? Or is it better to build a custom head that fits?

>changing eye color
This is actually what I'm interested in the most. I've read someone who said they could change the eye colors by slipping a minifig cape between the head and the mask but I can't find it anymore. I tried it once and it didn't work. Also, capes equal solid colors and I'm not fond of solid eye colors on my bonkles. Has anyone tried to paint a Inika head before? Did you use solid paints or something fancier?

Well, color me surprised but I've managed to do something. Apparently the Skull Mask nd the Inika masks fit together almost perfectly. That's the gold Kulta mask under the Calix, no glue or other heresy required. I have tried the other G2 masks and they're too wide or have weird protrusions that don't work with the Inika masks.
The Calix and the Suletu are the easiest to apply. The Kadin is a bit harder but nothing bad. The Iden is a bitch to get to work and wobbles a bit (but my Iden is probably too loose). The Sanok just doesn't work due to its weird wide chin. Can't find where I put my Elda, but man fuck the Elda.
If anyone is curious I have more pictures, with Kopaka, Kongu and Onua wearing the masks.
>>
>>6479906
>Kongu
FUCK meant Lewa.
I should add: the cons are two. First, these masks are huge for a modern Toa sized figure. Second, the eyes don't look very good since you see the skull mask details underneath. Maybe slipping a piece of transparent plastic sheet between the two masks could work.

Man. I loved Jaller Inika but for a number of reasons I never got any Piraka or Inika. I managed to get Jaller Mahri to console myself, but he was a big fucking letdown. Jaller Inika had a cool face, transparent bones, a weapon with a light, a weapon with a magazine, and a nice gold/red colour scheme. Also he had those cool shoulder pads. He had a lot of zazz.
Jaller Mahri had a plain and unwieldy piece of plastic for a sword, a forgetable mask, and a bunch of generic parts. He was plain and uninteresting.
I've coveted Hewkii, Nuparu and Jaller Inika for years, and I'd trade Jaller Mahri for Inika in a heartbeat. Whenever I see others saying that Jaller Mahri is better or that he is the best inika build I get angry and sad.

I might have been a bit hard on him as a wee munchkin, but his transparent joints were prone to loosening, the O part slowly cracking into a C. I also think his mask/face looks pretty goofy, but I thought Hewkii's wasn't too bad so I'm probably in the minority here.
At least Jaller Mahri got a crab and a big sword, my main man Kongu got two of those cannons, and with his joints going loose I could hardly pose him without them dragging on the ground.
I guess the grass is greener or some shit.

>>
>>6480448
I should clarify, I think Jaller Inika is a better form for Jaller's character. The gold is a prefect subsitute for his classic yellow (dark red doesn't look god with yellow, IMO), and the contrast between dark red and green is an excelent design choice.
However, I think Jaller Mahri is closer to my idea of an "ideal Toa of Fire", and that his design would've been a better fit for Tahu Mistika.

In an ideal world, I would've liked if the Inika stayed Inika, just with less alien masks. I'm sure that they would've sold more if their masks were less weird. They had cooler weapons than the Mahri and their lightning powers were cool as fuck and made them unique. However, I still like the Mahri a lot overall, thanks to some very original armor designs, cool weapons (save Hahli. What the fuck is that?). Jaller, and arguably Kongu and Nuparu, also got nerfed hard in terms of Mask powers.

It's weird, I'm a bonkle fan since 2001 but sometimes I'm more nostalgic about Jaller's team than I am for Tahu's.

ntroducing kohrok-kaha the “medic”.

A smart and cunning member of the team, kohrok-kaha is equiped with a variarity of small tools and telescopic eyesight that make him able to repair all but the gravest injuries on any individual.
When not “helping” his comrades kohrok-kaha finds pleasure in stalking his next patient. Using his powers of sonics kohrok-kaha silently stalks his “patient” until the time is right. He is then shoots the unknowing victim with his sleepdart after which he can start the operation.
Patients usually wake up later with horrific modifications on their limbs or body.

For this reason he isnt really trusted by his team and in order to repair them he must often hunt and drug his own team in order to start the necessary operations on them.

I love 2007 but that's when the Titans started to get simplified. Compare Karzahni to sets like Brutaka or Roodaka, he doesn't hold a candle. And I kind of liked Icarax too, but like many things in 2008 he was yet another example that the designers were tired of working on Bionicle. Really 2008-2010 were kept afloat by the expertise of the part designers (well, save from obvious fuckups like the Kaukau Mistika), because you can tell the builders just wanted to move on.

Do you think the story team initally wanted to kill the Toa Nuva off?
Them getting defeated by the Piraka, the Inika basically taking their story roles, 2008 originally having Jaller's team as protagonists again..it really seemed they wanted to do drop the original team by having a new one taking their mantle.
If the decision to awaken Mata Nui was before the one to have the Toa Nuva return, that could imply they wanted to retcon the Nuva' destiny to awaken Mata Nui and giving that honor to the Inika/Mahri, perhaps by skipping the whole Toa Ignika sacrifice plot point and Matoro being the one to awaken Mata Nui.
>>
>>6481274

Don't mind my complaining much. The reason I feel so strongly about Jaller is because getting him was an act of rebellion at the time. I was raised by an abusive family and apart from the beatings and stuff I also had no allowance and any money from the relatives got confiscated. Jaller Mahri was a damn important letdown. He didn't even have that claw ribcage he had in the flash game. I tried putting the crab's legs on him but they were sticking out too much. I'm mildly interested in making a G2 Jaller Mahri using PoF's mask but I think he'll come out unrecognizable with his brighter colours, more complex sword, different design language and proportions.

>"No! Noooo!"

And that's why Bionicle was cut short and no other line has replaced it. The successor is afraid to come out.
Something tells me LEGO has a business plan that covers years and that they didn't adapt it to the early cancelation. Instead the company acts like Bionicle is still running and we'll see a new CCBS line after Bionicle's initial expiry date.

1 or 2. I fucking hate the Zatth. I'm rebooting G1 and G2 for my personal canon and I realized the Inika got nerfed hard when they turned into Toa Mahri:

>Jaller
Damn that mask looks cool, I bet its power is badass. What, so you're saying he went from dodging anything and generally doing miracles to... echolocation? Does he really need that? I hope he retrieved Lhikan's Hau somehow, that would be an improvement.
>Nuparu
Lost flight, which was useless in Mahri Nui anyway, for stealth. Having a canon mask for Nidhiki was nice but surely there had to be something more interesting to pick?
>Kongu
This makes me really mad because you can tell the reason behind the idiocy. He traded sweet telepathy for dumb random Rahi summoning, clearly because Greg wanted to write autistic battles between sea monsters (that don't even exist in set form, for fuck's sake). I don't think a more gimmicky and random power exists. Greg, I know you hate Toa of Air and like to treat them like comic relief trash but let it go of your fetishes for once.

>Hahli, Hewkii and Matoro: actually cool powers that are useful outside water. With the right usage and growing experience, Hahli and Hewkii could become really overpowered.

And, all of them lost their lightning powers and antidermis immunity. Now they're just normal Toa aside from being amphibious. That's pretty sad.
>>
>>6486098
Speaking of Mahri, I still hate the fact the set clearly have air tanks, but then Greg had to go and be like "Nope, those are totally gills".
>>
>>6486104
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. How the heck do you call tubes "gills"? What was the problem? I'm fairly sure biomechanical creatures have lungs, so air tanks make sense. Also, there was no point in making them full water breathers (until Matoro reversed) other than this creepy fetish the story design had of mutating and crippling characters.
If the Ignika had the power to change their Masks and weapons, who's to say it couldn't give them water breathing equipment?
>>
>>6486098
>>6486104
>>6486116
were you guys always this bored or what?
>>
>>6486131
Just because we like Bonkle, doesn't mean we have to eat all shit Greg made up
>>
>>6486104
>>6486116
See that's the thing, it added nothing beyond pointless drama that was relieved by the time that arc ended, and it was yet another case of sprinkling the story with annoying "oh this isn't what it looks like" bs. The tubes are clearly shown as breathing gear in the animation when the Toa are sitting around in an air-filled chamber, so I take that as my preferred "personal canon" over Greg's writing.
It's funny that I get even slightly worked up about this, because it's so trivial, but maybe that's why it bothers me, it was just a pointless, needless detail that clearly contradicted the set designers' intent.
>>
>>6486523
I like the idea that the water breathing started after they entered the water what with the pit causing mutations left, right and centre.

Let's see... The shells are much better than other bootleg shells, such some Hero Factory bootlegs I got from the Philippines. The bones are not as polished and need more force to connect bone to bone than the actual lego ones, but they're still pretty solid. Every piece still has that bootleg-feel of flaky plastic edges.

Testing bootleg shells on lego bones, and the bootleg shells don't feel too different from using lego shells, nice and tight. With lego shells on bootleg bones, it feels like the shells will pop off of some of the bones when you try to fiddle with the figure.

The bootleg armor addons fit tightly on both bootleg and lego shells. Lego armor addons are loose on some of the bootleg shells.

The shittiest pieces are the pins, but not like anyone is buying bootlegs for those.

Hey faggots I have some checkout codes for Lego Shop at Home that gives you a free exclusive lego shop employee minifig on orders that are $35 or more. Since this minifig is exclusive it'll probably sell for $20 or something obscene on bricklink so this is pretty worth it.

They expire after September 3 so use em before then. Pick a code and see if it works, none of been used at the time of writing this.

If there was a brand new Constraction series, what would you want it to be about?

Lately as I've taken a break from LEGO in the past couple of months to focus on my game backlog, I've noticed just how well Samus Aran's Power Suit fits in with Bionicle and the like. What if the new constraction line doesn't feature biomechanical beings or robots, but rather people in sci-fi Power Suits traversing space and/or different worlds? Of course I'd hope they all have helmets, as we all know organic things like human heads don't translate too well to CCBS or Technic. While this may be harder to create interesting characters and a central villain(s), I bring Metroid up again, as it managed to do that, and create interesting diverse characters. Hell, characters don't even have to be human; they could be different species, sorta like what we saw in Prime Hunters. I guess it does sound a lot like I "just want a LEGO Metroid", but I feel this premise just could lend itself to the building style very well.

Those were his prototype colours, funnily enough, but they were altered when Lego decided that brown sets don't sell and need to be changed.

I'm probably going to sound like an alien, but I'm glad they started doing that. I've never been a big fan of brown sets, maybe because I felt brown didn't fit muh cyborg demigods well. Once I got over Hewkii and the other Toa not looking lke their Matoran selves, I ended up loving his yellow/gunmetal color scheme.
Even the others improved from the prototypes. Hahli is a lot more original with gunmetal instead of silver, and everyone having green Zamors looks boring.

Just bought sw ccbs darth vader and holy shit his torso is probably the best thing I ever built since original bonkle era, I absolutely love the technic/ccbs mix, his limbs are still generic shit but this was a good suprise when I originally bought it online after prices dropped to -50 %, really makes me sad when pretty much all other sets use the genericshit build, any idea of other sets that are this original in ultrabuilds?

monster girls

Or if you want to appeal to non-weirdos, fantasy creatures like centaurs, tree people, dragons and shit. Doesn't even have to be the half-human kind. They could just be giant fantasy creatures like the kind you fight in most JRPGs. Think "We're doing the Rahi again, but with CCBS this time."
>>
>>6491162
>>6491907
I don't really care what they do as I stopped buying sets. But I guess it would be interesting to see more experimental character designs instead of generic humanoids and four-six legged bugs. I'm thinking of things like Slizers, Mixels, HF Breakout or the Jungle Planet beasts, and the G2 Creatures, but even more varied. A crazy "everything goes" universe, where there could be armored people like you said, but also more diverse stuff like, say, snake people, centaurs, vehicle-like cyborgs (like the RoboRiders or the 01 Rahi), and whatever else the designers can think up. Mix in Technic wherever it fits, but some characters could be pure CCBS.
Story-wise, maybe it could expand on what Slizers and the Glatorian did, have all the different species compete in some inter-planetary competition or something, while side stories focus on what their home worlds are like and what they're fighting for. It could be tongue-in-cheek and humorous to fit in with Lego's general feel, with tons of callbacks to older lines, but also some more serious "epic" moments. Imagine that this was the expanded universe Faber hinted at in his deleted blog post.
I have no idea how they could market all this shit (maybe a self-consciously cheesy TV show could sell the silly concept?) and I doubt Lego would fund anything as ambitious given the current state of Constraction. But it'd be interesting to see, cause all these shitty humanoid SW sets have been giving me sensory deprivation.
>>
>>6491987

Taste like tree, talk like people. One thing I hated about the rahi was that technic+mechanical design made them unrecognizable as animals the larger they got. Muaka didn't look like a feline to me. The idea wasn't too bad in itself, it just wasn't implemented correctly.
If I were LEGO I'd release CCBS Nexo Knights as filler for the cancelled G2 in order to buy a new design team time to either come up with a new franchise or reboot Slizers. Also I'd have new bones made for CCBS in order to address the incompatibility between the system and System/Technic. Maybe shells too.

Now regarding a new franchise, I'd incorporate three important elements to it.

1) Waifus

Just look at mlp's success among lonely manchildren and teen lesbians. Though I understand why image-is-everything LEGO might not want it's name associated with that kind of a fandom.

2) Edge

Not in the way G1 was done. More like letting the G2 concept artists do their thing and have them oversee the story team.

3) Diversity

LEGO is all about creativity and customizability. But let's face it, Bionicle and HF fans have shown that for the most part are a bunch of dolts who copy or mishmash the official builds. They need to be shown the different ways the system can be utilized by being presented with more diverse sets. Things that aren't humanoid. Though humanoids sell best and should be present.
Also some palette diversity, by using colour combinations we don't see in LEGO sets.

Dark Red + Tan
Blue + Yellow or Dark Red
White + Orange and Blue
Grey + Yellow
Teal + Light Blue
Black + Pinkish Purple

Stuff like that.

I thought I was going crazy (or just being really lucky) but the same is happening here in Pizziamafialand. Rey's standard price is 15 Euro, there are some IRL stores that sell the Rogue One figures for 10 Euro (no kidding), some Amazon sellers have them for under 5 Euro (5 Euro for shipping though). SW Ultrabuilds are truly, unironically, on suicide watch.

I might sound like a sadist, but things are going too well for TLG. All they're living off these days is Ninjago, City and LS (Licensed Shit). They know that no matter how shit and overpriced their products get the Mouse Cock will save them. Man their finances might have not been good in the 90s/00s but the stuff, although not as polished, was so much more creative. They need to suffer a BIG internal crisis that forces them to rethink their lines. Hopefully the capeshit bubble bursts in the next few years (after Infinity War), though I doubt we'll ever get rid of Lightsaber Battles.

I'm pissed, anon. I was ready to Bricklink tons of sand green shells because I wanted to build Artakha, and, why not, a Zaktan revamp. It's such a cool color. But now making Artakha is going to a lot harder. Looks like I'll have to tweak his colors a bit. Spring yellowish green (>>6489914) is too saturated for someone like Artakha. Not even dark green works. I guess I'll resort to sand blue, even if it's not the same.

I wonder what would happen when their pretty rampant plastic quality issues these days become more well known in public.
Your standard parents will assume that all those cracks come from little Timmy just playing too rough with his toys but in reality that shit cracks even when just being put on display.
If it turns out that this stuff isn't as indestructible as they always claim and that "only the best is good enough" is now hanging above the toilet entrance then maybe people will rethink twice if they'll shell out 150+ for some licensed set that develops cracks in a few months or even weeks.

A lot of the standard bricks were redesigned to use less plastic and they started using clear plastic with added color pigments instead of opaque which resulted in Lego saving a few cents but also making the bricks less durable.
Pretty much every one stud wide brick is now prone to develop cracks, minifig heels will crack when connected for too long and Technic axle connectors with safety-holes on the sides are almost designed to crack.
Also, dark brown is apparently the new lime green.
