The figures themselves are incredibly rudimentar but still, building them is pretty fun and there's a delicious taste of early Transformers to them. The drill and the sports car would later become Zetar and Aragon in the US toyline, but I don't think the tank / jet ever had a TF equivalent.

He's OK. Transformation is fun, car mode rocks, bot mode is cool but not very poseable and quite kibbly. His weapons are awesome though, especially his shotgun mandala. For $15 though he's pretty worth it. Don't do the riot shield thing though, I hear it breaks the hinge with overuse.

Is this the best current, reasonably priced Optimus that transforms into a Semi-truck? Not a huge fan of the triple changer look, but I am pretty sure I missed out on my chances of getting the combiner wars version of Prime at this point. Same goes for Megatron, I'm looking up the current toys, but it looks like I'll either have to go RID or Titans Return if I want anything at this point.

Generations must be selling if they keep doing it. Doesn't matter who they sell to, someone is buying it, and in large enough quantities it's making them enough money to be their head toy line.

Atop that, MP's are going harder on G1 looks than ever. You might not like it, but that is the reality of it: G1 sells. It still sells. Every other line has died out, but Generations keeps on CHUGing along. You simply can't deny that is where the money is, especially since it's apparently popular enough to spring up it's own 3rd party industry focused on catering to that demand.

Are you okay with permanently modifying the figure? The knee triangles are totally superfluous and can be snipped or shaved off with no loss of function. It's a tight space to fit some tools, but you can open the legs with some screw drivers if have some.

I found a second evasion mode Optimus Prime at value village today (the one from the two-pack, apparently) and picked it up because I like that he has grey feet. Unfortunately his shoulders are both cracked though and one of his antenna is broken off. Is there any easy way to swap his parts out with my other evasion Prime? He's all pins and rivets and I have no experience ripping apart transformers.

Some people spend about 200-300 on him, but if I were you, since you're basically starting out spending 5 bucks and are way ahead, I'd try to avoid paying more than 15 for any one part.
