So the G-T Beasts thing got me thinking, what are other fan designs that could make really cool toys?

I'd fucking kill for the TF designs by Mecha Zone to be made a reality. Dude has that '80ies toys but modernized' style down perfectly.

Tits and ass, same thing as any waifu figure.

>Opinions on current offerings?

Literally nothing out there fits the bill. Kind of ashamed 3P's are dropping the ball so hard here. Closest was FP's stripper dinosaur 'bots, but those were badly designed and not worth buying, let alone mentioning.
>>
>>6428399

If you like the look of it. Nothing really locks into place and he can't hold his weapons. He needs replacement ratcheted torso pieces because the ball joints fucking suck on the hips, but that comes with their swoop. Although mode is its biggest strength.

Toy world has a surprisingly good sludge though. Bot mode is aces. Both like wrist swivels though.
>>
>>6428416
Wow Im super glad I waited to see this guy first before choosing. His head is actually where it ought to be and not hanging out back on his shoulders like the mmc one. I do agree a bit with >>6428473 but eh, he looks great otherwise so I'm sold.

Cool.

Also, fuck. This is why I hate rubber/chrome/diecast/etc. Only had this since Dec. of last year, and the rubber is already cracking. It's from the addon kit for Mastermade's Not-Omega Supreme. Ah well. Guess I can just toss'em in the box. But really, they should've just made these from a bendable plastic. It's not like I live in any kind of extreme environment either, I'm on the East coast of the US here.
>>
>>6428543
It's awfully similar to Cross Dimension Striker Manus
Not that's a problem, love those designs. Can't wait for that generic seeker to become real
>>
>>6428572

Also, question for anyone who's ever had to, like...Lube up a joint or something. What's safe for plastics? Same figure here, his hip (up/down, not back/forward) joints have gotten SUPER fucking squeaky and go really hard at the upper-most and bottom-most areas. Dunno why. Wasn't like that when I bought it. I suspect maybe they were lubed in the factory or something perhaps. I tried loosening the screws a bit to see if that'd help, but it really hasn't.

Anyone know what would be a safe lube for this kind of thing? I recall someone saying some dish soap dripped in might work, but I'm kinda leery of trying that.
>>
>>6428594
WD40
>>
>>6428602

Pretty sure that melts plastic, or makes it brittle, or something.
>>
>>6428572
Same thing happened to mine. Had it since January.

Replace it with 1mm and 5mm nylon rope and it's fine
>>
>>6428608

Know anything to help with >>6428594 ? Has yours started squeaking too, or am I just the only one riding the QC train today?
>>
>>6428594
If you can get it into a joint in a place you can't see, powdered graphite is an amazing lubricate. It's just powdered carbon so it can't eat away or ruin anything, BUT it will leave gray marks (since it's graphite). I have a little container of it labeled for pinewood derby cars, but I use it on a lot of things, TFs included.
>>
>>6428631

Where would you get something like that?
>>
File: MASSSHIFTING.jpg (87KB, 750x588px) Image search: [Google]
MASSSHIFTING.jpg
87KB, 750x588px
Wow they really did get him down to MP carbot size in alt mode. Impressive considering he's MP-11 size in robot mode.
>>
>>6428622
Just WD-40, that's really all you can do
>>
>>6428606
If you're scared about WD40, use Singer oil, aka sewing machine lube oil. It's just clean paraffin oil.
>>
>>6428399
Honestly, I really liked Columpio and it's what got me to buy into the FP Dinobot line. It's a shame things went downhill after Slag but Swoop and Grimlock are at least decent, albeit disappointing.

>>6428528
I must have gotten lucky with mine because the ball hips on my Columpio have been just fine. Not loose at all and they give a solid range of movement. I still have the replacement hips but I don't really see any need to swap them at the moment.
As for alt mode, it's definitely great but I think his bot mode is just as strong, honestly. He and FP Slag both give off the "neo G1" look people want in their CHUG collections. It's simple but detailed, has appealing curves, just the right amount of boxyness. The only thing I think he really falls short on in bot mode is the feet. If they could have found a way to hide some of that inner mess and give him a more solid looking foot, he'd be perfect.
I haven't had any problems getting him to hold his sword but yeah, holding the gun is not great. You can get it in there easy enough but it pretty much has to be the last thing you do while posing him because the slightest shake makes him drop it.
I'm not sure what you mean by nothing locking into place. For robot mode? I guess that's true but there really isn't anything that NEEDS to lock together. Most pieces hold well enough through friction anyway and the only pieces that need it (his tail and his hind legs) do have pegging points that hold them secure. In alt mode, everything closes up and tabs together.
>>
>>6428594
Shock Oil. It's silicone-based, used for things like RC cars.
>>
>>6428594
DO NOT USE >>6428602
It can discolor plastic over time and even melt it depending on the type, use Shock Oil like >>6428756 mentions but only 80-90% silicone, no lower mixtures.
>>
What are some good 4 - 6.5 inch 3rd Party titles that are already out?

I've seen the Iron Factory guys-- as well as the Cogwheel set and Rearend, but are there any others?

The 7.5 is just too big for the rest of my collection, so I wanted to know if there were some that were in better scale with the rest of my figures.
>>
>>6428648
Michael's, hobby shops, etc. All over really, probably even places like Walmart or Lowes. You can also use it for art.
>>
>>6428243

Fortress is still taller? Astounding.
>>
>>6428582
Standalone lines appears to be the next stop for 3Ps. We ve had Cross Dimension and now the GT T-Beast line.

There are also niches such as MP War Within and IDW. There is just too many competition for G1 Toon MPs.

I think if the 3P company has garnered enough reputation, they will start doing fan art like Cross Dimension(in house fan art).
>>
>>6428894

I'll check Walmart then, only place we have around here.
>>
Does anybody know what this is? Or even where to buy it? I'd love an Apex armor combiner, especially if it does the waist fix better than PE.

Speaking of that, if one had an inclination to Toy World's take, he's apparently in stock now at TCP.

I think it's fine. I don't really care about transformation complexity as long as it's not doing something stupid like G Creations Optimus or the old Megs another company made, or MP36, where it's just a fragile, shitty mess.

The characters actually look like the characters and could even pass for MP quality likeness if they filled in the hollow parts. If you showed me TFC, MT,` or GT Bonecrusher I wouldn't even be able to tell it's Bonecrusher. Meanwhile Takara Bonecrusher looks like he hopped right out of the cartoon.
The combined mode locking system is extremely stable and feels like one solid toy rather than the shitty connectors 3Ps use that only lock at one point
Minimal partsforming, and the bits that do partsform have uses in other modes unlike TW's partsforming mess. Long Haul alone can store all of the combiner parts.
>>
>>6431326
That all depends if you have Metro's black shoulder pieces on (the one in your pic conveniently doesn't have them attached), he's taller than Max then. If you're only going by head height then yes Max is taller.
>>
>>6431411

If you count random shit hanging off a TF's back/back cannons/shoulder shit, a lot of TF's get huge size boosts. The fairest way is by head height, because not many TF's have gigantic giraffe necks or anything.
>>
>>6431429
I count by how tall their tallest piece that sticks up is because I need to know if its gonna fit on my shelf. I would think overall actual height is more important than where the head is to most people because of this.

>Subjective. It doesn't have to be gewun to look good.
But that's the thing. The 3P ones don't even look good. GT's is a greebled mess and TW's doesn't look imposing in combined mode. It just looks like a dude who happens to be oversized instead of a hulking mass. The UW one objectively looks more accurate.

>Except for the fucking 8 step transformations
There's no point of complicating transformations for the sake of complicating them. They're as simple as they need to be.

>garbage articulation
only the hasbro one has garbage articulation.

>gappy arm joints
again, this only applies to hasbro. Takara's has an extra elbow joint to make it look less shitty.

>and non existent paint finish
they have as much paint as they need. Are you one of those faggots who like the overcolored TFC trash?

>Gravity builder is stable and more articulated than devastator. Constructor is stable and more articulated than devastator
Connecting at multiple points will always be more stable than connecting at one point.
>>
>>6432708
Man, you are just... digging a really deep hole here bud. The only aspect the UW iteration has over Constructor/Builder is that it's simpler. Constructor is more accurate to G1 and more sturdy, whereas Builder outclasses it in every other department (with a lot of overlap in how they just shit on UW).

Put the shovel down bud. Otherwise, here's your (you).
>>
>>6432733
>Constructor is more accurate to G1
Devastator wasn't a skinny waisted monkey armed lanklet in the cartoon.

>and more sturdy
Highly doubt it. It doesn't lock at multiple points along the limb like the UW one does.

>whereas Builder outclasses it in every other department
except accuracy and not looking like greebled up turds.

>>6432825

The head in mine is the addon head. It does, well...Nothing in base mode. You've got to take it out because stuff plugs into the hole in the body in base mode. The addon stuff is basically the definition of a paperweight. It's a little body statuette that can't replace anything, and then the extra wings and head and the rubber tube bits that seem to be disintegrating, unfortunately.

Also fucks sake what is wrong with captcha today? It keeps not letting me post, fuck.
>>
>>6432847
>and then the extra wings and head and the rubber tube bits that seem to be disintegrating, unfortunately.

Err, I meant, that the rubber tubes seem to be disintegrating. The rest of the figure and addon bits are rock fucking solid. But yeah, thats why I don't like rubber on figures.

But don't get the addon kit unless you really just want the different wings and head for robot mode. They do nothing in base mode.

To be fair, he's mostly for the current IDW design. The parts for Origin version are more for a fun little bonus.
>completely lacks his tank-esque alt mode.
I don't recall what Origin Megs' alt mode looked like but he's still sort of a tank with the bonus parts equipped. He's just not a very conventional tank. The modern IDW version, however, as far as I'm aware is still anybody's guess since I think they've still managed to avoid having him transform (I haven't read anything past the season finale where Tarn bit the dust though) so we're stuck with MMC's artistic liberties jet-tank alt mode. It looks kinda fun and the bot mode is ace so I'm fine with the look overall.

I know it does nothing for base mode. I meant that can you get away with taking the new head and collar assembly and sitting on the ground while spun around like a turret? It definitely keeps it from laying flat. At best you could fudge it as some kind of emplacement, as long as you look at it from an angle. The little gun on the head does move up and down, and the head has it's neck articulation of course though.

Also fucking captcha is busting my balls tonight. Keeps giving me errors but every time I go to check shit at Google it says it shouldn't be, and I've run all my virus checkers just in case. Did Hiroshimoot fuck something up?

PSX and A3U are getting Rally on July 28th 10:00am Hong Kong Time. If I did the math right that's 10:00pm on Thursday EST.

Fuck berry blast cardboard rod, but Rally just nails that 80's pre-Transformers aesthetic. I'd love to grab one, but I saw some pics of another anon having their Rally's laser hands get stuck.

Does anyone have any experience with the mold? Is the QC wonky? is there diecast? Is he fun and articulated enough to ignore all that?

I think I'm kind of done with MP scale stuff, what legends scale stuff is worth buying? I wanna buy tiny robots.
>>
>>6434370

Pretty much anything from Iron Factory other than maybe their Soundwave/Blaster/Perceptor, not because they're bad, but just because they're kind of average.
>>
>>6434370
Iron Factory have a Shockwave that just released, as well as a full Bruticus (divided into 3 sets) due out this quarter.
>>
>>6434383

I was looking at that company, it seems like they really dominate the legends scale scene.

Also, what are some good websites to buy from in canada? I know about Ages 3 and Up but I seem to remember another website based here.

Anyone knows if someone like Shapeways is making a custom face for TitanMaster Misfire to have a MTMTE-inspired face?

I kind of prefer that look.
>>
>>6434216
It's shoddy crap like all the other Ocular Max stuff.
>>
>>6434487
There was a guy on tumblr making new faces like what you're talking about and I'm pretty sure he was doing a Misfire but last I saw he was still in the modeling stages with them. I'd link it but can't remember his name; maybe just check back on shapeways periodically.
>>
>>6434216

(tl;dr, get it if you like the appearance)

Rally is great, only problems I had with it where the with the guns not wanting to separate, making one of them break because the peg was chromed, but that was solved with an email to a customer service rep.

The figure does have quite a bit of diecast, namely in the spine, thighs, and forearms. (along with a few decorative panels)

The articulation below the swiveling waist is great, however, because of how the shoulders are assembled, they tend to look a bit weird in anything but a neutral position. Aside from that, the head is on a hinge and the neck can swivel, the knees (that are ratchets) and elbows can both reach 90 degrees. and while the fingers can all hinge individually, the index fingers have an extra hinge at the first knuckle, allowing the figure to more accurately grip certain weapons. The thumb is also on a ball joint.

The vehicle mode very aesthetically pleasing, mainly due to all the unique decals applied along the sides of the rally car itself.
While transforming the figure is quite a pain, (shitty instruction manual, youtube video recommended) the end result is a figure that looks great, is fun to pose, and is certainly worthy of the price I paid for mine while at TFcon.

Oh, and one last thing. It has been reported that the figure might have loose ankles out of the box, and while my copy does have a loose ankle, it has not hindered my enjoyment in any way.

If you would like any reference photos or want any more information on the figure, feel free to ask. I have more than enough time on my hands.

>>
>>6435086
Openplay if a new face comes out for it later. Fanstoys otherwise.

Openplay is just about half the cost of FT and XTB and has really good easy engineering with quality plastic. A few quirks like some tabs that need tightening or maybe a screw that needs tightening but overall a solid figure without any consistent flaws unless the facesculpt bugs you. His face was also made to pull off so he likely will get a new one from somebody.
>>
Is Striker Manus/Noir one of the best releases of 2017? I just got him and this guy is nearly faultless, the black repaint makes him even better because this prime is way too mean looking to be a good guy. Still though, needs ball jointed wrists.
>>
>>6433006
Legends Menasor when?
>>
>>6435225

Pretty much. Only faults are the altmode and the panels on his arm.
>>
>>6435225
The colorscheme on noir helped a ton, but coming with options for weapons was basically what pushed him over the edge. I was pretty unsatisfied with regular manus because the axes and windvane gun were so shit, but Noir brought enough for the whole class. I still wish his hands were regular 5mm holes, but this'll do.

>Still though, needs ball jointed wrists.
Honestly I'm A-OK with his wrists. The transformation hinge lets him convincingly shoulder a rifle and two-hand a sword, which are basically the hardest things wrists need to be able do.

Just got Susanoo today and he's really awesome, but I'm having some issues with him. On mine, the arms don't seem to collapse enough to clear the treads so they can hook on, they simply do not reach. Also, the turret seems to pop off VERY easily, whereas in the reviews I saw, the turret seemed to be pretty secure. It's pretty annoying, especially in robot mode. Anyone know what I should do? Is this something I could take up with the company and get a replacement toy?
>>
>>6435247
You're experiencing a few of the many various issues that've been reported. Perfect copies of this fucker don't exist, sorry. The treads could be because you're mistransforming it, but I tried 3 times on mine and could only ever get one side to fully transform at a time, never both sets of treads.

>>
>>6435399
There was ONE video I found on YouTube the other day that shows it off and there was some guy who posted an Engrish review on Facebook that was screencapped and then posted over on TFW.

The long and the short of it was that it's pretty good, the plastic is good quality but not quite as good as some other recent figures (e.g. FansToys), and a lot of stuff didn't apparently tab together well (though it sounds like that may be fixable with floor polish).

Looked a little chunky but pretty awesome. I still like the look of it more than FT's personally.
>>
Anons, I need be an MP-08X (specifically the X version because I want a Marvel Comics version that's different from my eventual third-party Grimlock).

I found him super-cheap on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TAKARA-TOMY-TRANSFORMERS-MASTERPIECE-MP-08X-MP08X-KING-GRIMLOCK-EXPRESS-MISB-/272681744371

I've got to assume this is a KO though. I'm totally fine with that, but this doesn't look like the Reximus Prime KO at all. Anyone got any info on this? Is it any good? Is it oversized? Should I just buy the Reximus Prime MP-08X version instead?
>>
>>6435399
They're officially called "Open & Play" now, by the way. Or "Open and Play". And their Springer is known as "Big Spring". I had to work this out the other night, but anyway, here's the one video I mentioned:

>>
>>6435129

Yeah their Defensor looks great. Think I will go with either that or the OS Guardia for my shelf. Only thing I don't like is ho2 Groove stands out even worse then normal. I wouldn't be opposed to an optional Rook that turns into a SWAT van to replace him.
>>
>>6435403
I tried, to no avail.
What I ended up doing just now i removing a link from the track sections towards the rear, since they had l little bit of give, and attached that link to the front half. Now the back is pretty tight, and the front is still a bit difficult to hook on, but at least now I can complete the treads. I wish they provided a couple extra links in the box.
If anyone else attempts this, I recommend shoving a tiny screwdriver underneath the bar of the tread link when you remove it, so you don't bend or snap the attaching bar, since its so thin.
>>
>>6435387
Well, if you can't transform it, then yes, start by taking it up with the company (or, easier, the retailer you bought it from).

You could unscrew things and see if there's a way to fix it from the inside (full disclosure, I don't own Susanoo, so these are just general tips), and you could try using floor polish for the turret to give it more friction and therefore keep it attached.

So I've been eyeing the GigaPower Dinobots, but I'm getting a bit confused. But now I'm hearing that the metallic versions are a THIRD version? Can someone please enlighten me?

I don't mind chrome or metallic paint (the latter is probably more durable, of course), but I don't want the first releases (even though the flame parts are really cool).

This is the stupidest, most cherry-picked issue I've ever seen in 3P TFs. Why is this artist's work any more untouchable than the rest of HasTak's IP? He doesn't even have the rights to the characters himself. And most importantly:

I WANT MY TRANSFORMING MECHA BEASTS OR I'M GOING TO DESTROY SOMETHING
>>
>>6435561
Literally what the fuck are you talking about. Autistic japs got angry at the artist because they thought he was profiting off Takara's IP. The artist then made a statement on his twitter that he did not approve the designs for use by GT and that he was not profitting off of the sales.

Depends on the neighborhood you live in. In some shittier neighborhoods, folks will just steal packages hoping to find something good that they can use or flip. That or the carriers in your area might just have shitty employees. For instance, our USPS has asshole drivers who will just leave slips in the mailbox because they're too lazy to get out of the truck to bring it to our door or they'll mark things as delivered well before they even get to our house so their numbers look better. There was one time in particular where the guy marked it as delivered but didn't show up until 4 hours later. Another time, they did the same thing but didn't deliver it until 2 entire days later. Might just be what's happening.

It's not to do with their artwork being untouchable nor is it cherry-picking. I'd say the same thing about Hasbro and TakaraTomy, which may be hypocritical because I buy third-party stuff, but unofficial third-party toys are still IP-infringing products nonetheless.

The difference is that Hasbro and TakaraTomy aren't being drastically hurt by this (we obviously don't have numbers but it may even be benefitting them - I'm not sure), whereas this one incident could fuck this whole artist's career up because of a misunderstanding.

Plus, you know, it's one thing to steal official stuff, but to steal third-party stuff and use it as your own is just fucked-up.
