the W form change figures had head articulation, they could look side to side while still splitting apart. i very strongly suspect that bandai weren't going to redo a gimmick and then have it be worse than the original

as for going all in, i did that with LVUR and got burned. sold off the level 3's and DKHZ, essentially abandoning the gimmick aspect. the robots were just fat in the back and weren't fun to play with. it's looking like all of the build figures will interact with each other through the gimmick, so that's at least something in its favor

Yeah, I stayed away from the LVUR line for that exact reason. The armor just looked like a poorly executed version of the Arms Change series, and the forms I was really interested in getting were likely to get a Figuarts anyway. With Build there's just no way Tamashii Nations is gonna do even all 10 Best Matches, let alone the dozens of multiple combinations there are, so there's definitely more worth in getting them. That they lack the clunky elements of add-on gimmicks, like you say, is also a point in their favor.

As far as the heads go, I want to hope you're right, but I'm skeptical.

It's actually one Tech Deck playset that the name escapes me on. The back half's detached and flipped up with the background for the Trychaser 2000 just resting against it. The top section that Gouram's resting on had an obnoxious Tech Deck logo on it I scrubbed off, it's all a nice stone-ish texture so it fits in until I find something better.

I want to say the pins are probably on the back. The Full Bottles slide into slots sort of like the Shift Cars and Signal Bikes. It'd make sense if that's where the pins went seeing how the Transteam Gun works. And you can see the Rabbit Tank Sparkling can has some protruding stuff on the back.

Ghost actually sold marginally better than Drive overall. The aftermarket value of the toys has nothing to do with that. Drive stuff only started picking up in price when the show was nearly over anyway, and that includes the Figuarts too. Drive stuff was all really cheap for a good while there.

Drive is another tech Rider, but SIC took advantage of the suit's creatir also having a hand in designing the Roidmudes. So they made SIC Drive look more like a Roidmude. Makes sense.

In fact, it makes better sense than the show. How can use design something like Drive along with Androids meant to benefit mankind that look they come straight out of an 80s horror movie? I get evolved Roidmudes like Heart could be gerting their warped design from the negative emotions Banno forced them absorb, but even the base Bat, Cobra, and Spider Roidmudes were freaky as fuck. Why even design Androids after such dangerous animals?

At least SIC alleviates that by making Drive imply that the Steinbelt's technology just happens to look grungy and has little room at the moment for aesthetic touch ups.

But i went back to see the Mugen reveal episodes and the last three episodes just so i could see it end. You didn't miss anything. The only interesting thing that happens at the end of Ghost is Ex-Aid and Genm showing up.

Honestly, Chaser ripoff aside, Ghost was pretty alright right up until he got the Toucon Boost form. But soon after that it starts to become clear that they aren't fighting ACTUAL ghosts and it becomes a sentai plot in a rider show.

Plus having him be an agent of the enemy then wakening to JUSTICE to protect Earth would have been more classic Rider story and I think be far more interesting than Ghost's story about his dad and hugs and returning to life four or five times (despite the OP saying you only have one life to live). I'm okay with the main rider dying once to come back strong, but Ghost was annoyingly repetitive about it.

It feels kind of weird, Ghost is one of the few Rider series I don't want any toys of.
