Anybody still collect McFarlane's older stuff? From 94' to around 2002'ish? After that he started getting too into the "glorified statue" territory with most of his lines so I kind of fell out of it, but I still love his older figures.

I have one shelf on display and keep the rest in a box. Mostly villains and the 10th anniversary spawn. Also added the ML Angela, shes a little too bright, but it works.

I was so let down by the Redeemer figure. He's one of my favorite character designs in McFarlane's works and we get a pre-posed figure with a light-up gimmick. Still looks nice displayed, at least.
Nice Violator III, I still need to pick one up.
>>6388351
Redeemer as in the classic one on the left? That figure wasn't even that bad...at least he still had most of the major joints and a really good sculpt.
>>6388352
The problem I have is mostly the blade arm being pre-posed into a mostly useless position, the ugly backpack, and the cape not ever wanting to stay on because of it. I just wanted a standard figure of him without any gimmicks or anything.
>>6387829
i would have loved the spawn toylines to stay as action figures and not progressively become mroe and more statue shit
raven and angel spawn would have been insta buys for me I could get a figure with high articulation of them
>>6388380
Raven Spawn has fairly decent articulation for the time. A lot better than the other statue stuff does, anyway. Pretty sure he even has knee articulation.
>>6388388
raven spawn has knee articulation?
i thought he only had elbow joints that moved...
>>6388439
>>6387829
Comic any good? or only good for toys?
>>6388488
First fifty issues or so is excellent. After that it gets a little... off. Some people like it after that point but it's very different. Still kind of cool, though.
how's the McFarlane's Maxx?. i know the shocker toys one is better overall but right now is a little bit too expensive for me right now
>>6388493
Never held the Maxx in person, but I've handled a lot of McFarlane figures in my life, and judging on the picture... for some reason he decided to use that hollow plastic he almost never uses and you can already see some spots the seem might start splitting a little with age. The joints are probably pretty damn solid, though, and if it doesn't split on you it's going to all around be a nice figure.
That hair for the headdress is going to likely peel, though. The Isz accessory that comes with him is just rubber with pose wires inside, but built nicely.
>>6388499
thanks, i guess i should go for it, i mean there's just two the maxx figures in the world
>>6388503
Shocker toys one is apparently a lot bigger, if that impacts anything for you.
>>6388524
So are you a Maxx fan? I've been curious about the show and comic but haven't gotten around to it yet.
>>6388550
I've seen the first episode and that's it. I liked what I saw but it didn't give me much to go on.
>>6388558
keep watching it, it gets weirder in a good way
>>6388493
>>6388511
The Shocker Maxx has some kinda weird shading, but I would keep hunting for it if I were you anon. The articulation is great and it keeps me coming back to play with him again and again. It also feels great in my hands, it's just a big lunkin mass of toy.
>>6388651
thanks for the advice, i'll buy the mcfarlane one because it's a lot cheaper but i'll keep hunging for him
>>6388684
Cool, that's a good compromise. On a side note, the Shocker Maxx can actually do the pose from the statue.
>>6388480
now if only his shoulders were articulated (along with cowl being made of or in a way that allows mobility
>>6388700
damn that's so fucking cool, that's the main reason i wanted it, the articulation
>>6388700
So wait, is that spike on his fists his middle finger or not? In the statue he has four fingers in addition to it, but in the toy the spike is the finger.
>>6388738
it is supposed to be his middle finger, the statue is wrong
I have all the McFarlane Dragons sitting in storage tight now the concepts and sculpts are incredible... once I am able to set up my trophy room.I will proudly display them.
>>6387829
i used to make my own fabric capes for them. they just need to stop making statue shit.
>>6388700
wish i would have gotten one when they were selling them at sam goody
Quartz is still one of my all time favorites.
Really want a good bunch of the Wetworks figs, namely Grail & Assassin One
>>6387829
Yup! I'm actually getting the first series of Movie Maniacs and the Tortured Souls series together. Waiting on my first purchase in the mail right now
Just got this guy in the mail today and I can't decide if I want to open him. Card is is in pretty good shape and It seems like a shame to ruin after 20 years.
>>6400597
Had that as a kid. It was one of the best we had.
>>6400745
so purtty in the box tho
>>6400745
I mean...you can literally get this guy for like $5-10 bucks, so....you might as well open it. If you regret it you can easily buy another. If you think the one you got is particularly good condition, then just buy another now and open that one.
I've got that clear blue necro cop chase figure and that's it. Snagged it at my lcs. Apparently it's the rarest chase fig they made?
>>6388060
I also have 10th anniversary Spawn with Marvel Legends Angela and it's nice having two Spawn characters with "modern" articulation.
I also have the complete series 1 of the "Animated" spawn line from the mid 00's, they're awesome but have like 3-4 poa so yeah they're basically statues.
>>6400745
Couldn't help myself. I had to open it.
>>6401380
Yeah, that was pretty much my reasoning behind opening it.
>>6401773
His neck is so loose it hangs limp lol. Ill have to fix that at some point. I managed to use the rib cage to put friction on the joint so I could take photos.
>>6401777
I definitely like the bone colored version better, but Im a sucker for black repaint.
>>6401782
One of the main things I like about the 1st edition, was the little Nutnick figure it came with. This on integrates nutnick into the back and its not nearly as cool.
>>6401785
I suppose hoping for a modern, well articulated spawn is pipe dream at this point.
>MUH ART
I wish Mcfarlane would pull his head out of his ass.
>>6400745
Have you considered Mangler to go with Scourge?
