Very interesting to see Zwuath preorders close early and then re-open with a second run to fulfill demand. Don't think we've seen that before with an RD exclusive.

>>6380270
Would LOVE a Re-GZ! As for other OVA/movie RDs, I really believe we're going to see the ANIME line eventually expand to encompass the OVA/movie specific suits. It's just such a perfect line for them!

>Are there any weight issues with the RD Dijeh's shoulder carrying all the weapons?
>And why was the FA Mk-II so bad, is it due to the armor parts not staying attached?
Can't help with your Dijeh question (hopefully someone else can), but as for the FA Mk-II,well I love mine. I actually haven't heard anyone take serious issue with it before, though that may have been a discussion I missed. I think it looks great with tons of tampo detail, and I haven't had any issues with the armor, it all attaches perfectly and results in a secure, solid figure with everything attached.

My one gripe would be how the range of motion in the legs is limited once the armor is attached, but that's more a fault of the design due to how the tubing from the side-skirt armor is attached to the thrusters in the shin armor.

Aside from that, I think if you're jonesing for a FA Mk-II it'll scratch that itch for ya.

>>

Eh, Amazon prices are often inaccurate for Japanese toys. One of those sold on Mandy recently for just 3k, which is like $26 or so. Anyway, nice score, you got it for a good price.

They are, but if they reach their manufacturing run limit they close orders early. Sometimes they'll start a second pre-order for a second batch when that happens.

>Didn't they tease a SRC Big O early in the line that never actually came out?

They did, and it's a damn shame they never made it. Granted it wasn't too early in the line. It was shown at the same time as the Giant Robo SRC, which came out a year or two ago I think.

I was really excited for the SRC Big O, and I'm still holding out hope they'll release it some day. Even if by some miracle they do though, I doubt they'd produce any other Megadeuces.
>>
>>6383699
I already have the SoC and its expansion set and I'd still buy a SRC one. Especially if it upped the chances of getting at least Big Duo.
>>
>>6384018
I don't own the SoC myself, but it must be great. I'd absolutely love a Big O figure in my collection. Every Tamashii Nations I secretly hope the SRC will pop back up with a release date, but I also never expect it.

This. It's already been done.

You also need to take into account the fact that the lineart itself is not drawn properly. The Flight Type's calves are roughly cylindrical, in a symmetrical manner. In the lineart, the right leg looks like it might conform to that, but the left leg? No way. It's bowing out to the side--viewed from the bottom, the opening would likely form a squashy sort of ellipse, or "egg" shape.

Lineart is not the end-all and be-all. The illustrators made mistakes here and there. This is one of those instances.

Prototype Gundam and Zaku Marine announced.

Surprised that the former is a retail release considering that Full Armor Gundam shelfwarmed.

This means we may get more poster character MSVs as regular retail. I am hoping that a potential Johnny Ridden Zaku will be a regular retail.

There is also a trend that minor remoulds and colour variants are regular retail except for G3 and Char's Dom as they were alternatives for the characters in the anime/MSV continuity.

Maybe they've calculated the cost and benefits beforehand, with the online shop being the most profitable model? Also, they could always do "repaint", "renewal", special etc versions if they wanted to make use of the molds again.

Anyway, what's the good and bad of Metal Robot Hi-Nu Gundam? I just realize they're going to rerelease it as "repackage" version in webshop and maybe I'd go for it since I've missed the normal versions before.

Muh ECOAS, Murasame, Delta Plus and Huckebein!

That said, I really like the current new announcements and I've yet to see the animations they belong to.
Funny that liking Lancelot makes me feel like a traitor; Justice and Infinite Justice are my favorite SEED suits, but the color difference between the pack and Gundam on the Justice RD is strangely too much for me.
Personally, I'd never replace the original Gundam colors, but as an ANIME RD I rather like these colors on the RX-78 mold over the classic colors.
>>
>>6385446

>>

>mfw no Taurus or Endless Waltz lineup

???? SO WHAT ????
>>
>>6386424

Yeah seriously... listen to >>6386463 and stop whining.

Don't get me wrong, Wing could've gotten more, but it still got a very nice selection of releases that were very well done.

A.N.I.M.E. wouldn't have over 20 releases already if any of it shelfwarmed. And the fact that some of the MSV exclusives are hard to find or rising in price backs that up too. Just look at the Desert Zaku. I got mine for 8k yen before shipping not long after it released. Now it goes for ~12-13k on Mandy and still sells out quickly. Same goes for Prototype Dom and Gouf Test Prototype; although their prices have yet to rise significantly, they sell as soon as they show up on Mandarake.

I'm sure certain A.N.I.M.E. releases sell better than others, but clearly the line is selling well enough to end up with RDs of designs like the Zaku Marine or GM Cannon, albeit as exclusives.
>>
>>6386527
>Wing could've gotten more, but it still got a very nice selection of releases that were very well done.

Yeah but I wonder what makes them just stop after all that, especially with the way they seem to be going all out on Dunbine. I guess Dunbine has a lot of fans.
>>
>>6386578
>I guess Dunbine has a lot of fans.
It's possible, considering it's one of the few fantasy mech shows out there and arguably the best known, at least in the east.
>>
>>6385606
1/100 for 15k yen
1/60 for 25k yen

sounds about right.

But don't let the 1/100 size fool you, Bandai's A team worked on this, opening hatches, retractable landing gears, etc.
>>
>>6386621
maybe, still, preorder nightmare is bullshit so I won't probably even get a chance to buy it
>>
>>6386578
Nothing left to make, they released every possible gundam, after that hype died down
>>
>>6386578
My guess is that there's a few factors at play comparing Wing to Dunbine in this scenario.

From a western perspective, Wing kick-started the western Gundam fanbase, and so while it was popular here in the west, it actually wasn't nearly as popular in Japan. Thus, in relation to RD sales, being a Gundam series the figures they produced probably sold alright. But only a few popular figures might've sold well. Leo and Aries probably had more modest sales, so Bandai would've used those numbers to determine that producing other grunts from the series wasn't worth the investment.

Switching to the Dunbine side of the argument, the series is ultimately unknown outside of the hardcore Mecha-fan niche in the west. But in Japan I'm sure a lot of adult collectors at least remember seeing it on tv when they were young. I'm not sure how popular the series was, but regardless, even just considering the fact that the series had more exposure in the east would mean that there's more of a market for it over there. On top of that, Dunbine hasn't really had any good product options available until the RDs, so anyone who is a fan is having a blast seeing all these great new figures from the series.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Bandai, especially this division of it at that, considers Japan its prime market. Global sales are icing on the cake, but what sells well in Japan determines what they're going to produce more of in the future.
>>
>>6386578
Part of it is a switch to more hardcore fanbases who are more willing to pay the increasingly premium prices the line is charging. I feel like that's a major driver behind the move to all 80s stuff. I would assume they shifted to a more premium business model because they figured rising prices from China would drive off more casual collectors even if they tried to keep prices down. Might as well get high margins from a smaller, more dedicated consumer base.

I think that right now they're trying to figure out where to take the line after they run out of marketable 80 robots. That's why we're seeing these retools for Geass and 00 alongside the new Tri stuff at lower prices. This is all just speculation on my part as to the lines positioning strategy of course, Tamashii could just be managed by escaped chimps for all I know. Monsterarts and SRC probably are.

MSIAs are fine, they just might feel a bit dated depending on the age of the particular figure you're buying. The sculpts aren't quite as sharp, and they definitely feel more toy-like than RDs. They typically have a good assortment of joints and pose fine though.

The old American Gundam figures were in fact MSIAs. The line basically ended in 2008, when it was replaced by Robot Damashii.
>>
>>6387088
>>6387101
Yeah they are nice and sturdy since they were made for the American audience where Gunpla didn't sell.

Damn, I always thought the American toys were altered/simplified version of some Japanese line, but they were straight up MSIAs?

I'll have to grab some before their prices start going crazy, if they've already ended the line.

So is RD the only source for non-Gunpla Gundam figures now? Not including stuff like Converge and NX Edge anyway.

It's different in the sense that everything you see is used (they look over it carefully so you generally don't have to worry about quality) and there is only one of each item, so you don't really know if you're gonna get something when you place an order. Someone might walk in and buy it before your order is processed. Ordering itself is pretty straightforward. Just know that each item is marked with a branch (location), and you cannot combine items from different branches, they ship separately.

Yes, the MSIA line is very nice. The first versions can be a bit basic when it comes to articulation but still look really good and fairly detailed when compared to the Damashii line. They are more rubbery and durable than Robot Damashii's model kit feel which I actually prefer since you don't have to worry about them as much. The version 2s and extended line are quite amazing and have a ton of accessories, articulation, and even more detail than the version 1s. Get the Japanese versions if you wan panel lining.
>>
>>6387225
From left to right, Gouf version 1 MSIA, Gouf Extended MSIA, and Robot Damashii Gouf.

I suggest Mandarake if you're looking to buy MSIA. Best prices I've found even with the shipping.
>>
>>6387225
>>6387228
What's your opinion of the eMSIA Gouf? Is the articulation decent? I liked the dusty/pale looking panel line job on that one and have been considering a purchase.
>>
>>6387230
The articulation is very good, double joints everywhere, the feet pads have articulation, and midsection is its own piece so it can bend quite a lot at the stomach and waist. Colors great if you like the more realistic or weathered look and comes with a lot more accessories than the Damashii.
>>
>>6387109
RDs were meant to be the toy division's "one-line-to-end-all-lines". Prior to that they had several lines like MSiA, E-MSiA, A-MSiA, HCM Pro, FIX Figuration and it was getting messy so decided to throw everything into a single line.

But that's only the toys' division. The Candy Toys division occasionally does small 3~4" articulated figures (Gundam Assault, Universal Unit) but that seems to be on hiatus and Candy toys are a bitch to obtain outside Japan.

Depends where you live. Here in California I have a handful of shops that bring these in for sale, plus Barnes & Noble sold Assault Kingdom, and to my knowledge still sells Universal Unit. The prices are hiked, sure, but that's the price you pay for not importing an entire case yourself.

You have to wait a while after their japan release, they eventually get to the USA.

Good: Looks great, lots of paint and tampo detail, well articulated. Repackage comes with a spiffy stand.

Bad: Rather pricey for what you get, and note that the repackage is going to be a lottery web-exclusive which is gonna make it even tougher/pricer for us to get. Never really heard of any problems with the figure itself, though.

Ka Signature has come a long way. Ever since 2012, they've maintained approximately 3 to 4 releases a year. But initially they were not focused on any particular Gundam series as they were making obscure MS from Gundam UC and Zeta to supplement HGUC, which was a weak point. Thankfully, it looks like they are going to complete the Gundam Sentinel line, and it is going to function as a standalone line rather than complementing HGUC etc.

We still need Xeku Ein(probably across 2 separate releases, third type and 1st/2nd combo), Xeku Zwei and Nouvel GM. They will probably skip Gaza E.

I am really hoping that they KA Signature Huckebein won't make them forget about Xeku Ein.

It would be great if they release Methuss Kai in light of the Mk-II and Dijeh Zeta releases, but looks like it will be unlikely.

Further down the line, I would really wonder if they will make Messer and Gustav Carl when they run out of ideas.

Standalone comprehensive lines are much better as the aesthetics are kept consistent.

There is no way I could mix ANIME line with ka signature or HGUC,

I personally have collected the following RD lines:

ka Signature(got 75-80% of the releases, but as I mentioned before, the non-Sentinel stuff don't fit as a group)

Gundam ANIME

Dunbine (90% done)

a few L Gaim ones.

Have some random Crossbone, Unicorn, V Gundam RDs, but I really don't like randomness in toylines.
>>
>>6387359
I think the Zeta Plus C1 will need to have 02 and 03 decal options.

I hope they are not holding it back due to the HGUC p-bandai Zeta Plus C1, but the two are separate markets anyway. Both HGUC Bylarant Custom and Barzam came out after ka Signature.

It may also lead to the return of the Hummingbird if the mould could support such equipment.

GFFs are good supplements if you're collecting 144s. Most of them blend well except the late UC ones (All are available now as HGUCs). Personally, I've also added garage kits from B-Club and Studio Reckless for lesser known MS.

>>6389053
I hope so especially since the C1 HGUC derived it's legs from the Unicorn version. Sentinel's C1s have slimmer legs. It will also be great if they can release A1, A2 and D versions as well.
>>
>>6390523
Hmm, never bought a GFF before. They seem pretty pricey. How's the joint setup/range compared to a RD?
>>
>>6390523
The short guy GFFs are fine scale wise(GM/Zaku), but the bigger guys are not proportionally larger based on setting height.

The GFF Psycho Gundam/Mk-11 are almost perfectly 1/144 so they fit well with Ka Signature Dijeh and FA Gundam Mk-II.

>>6387088
>Are they the ones I've heard people compare to the old American Gundam figs from years ago?

They are the same thing. Mobile Suit in Action is the name of the line but they were released in the US as just Gundam without the MSiA branding.

>Are MSIA nice and sturdy?

It depends on the specific figure and the condition. Pretty much everything NIB is sturdy but the later Version 2 and Extended releases tend to be better than the Version 1 figures.

>Amazon all the results look pretty ghetto like they're really old releases

Well yes, they are old. The line completely stopped almost ten years ago (2008) and started almost twenty years ago (1999).
>>6387103
>Yeah they are nice and sturdy since they were made for the American audience where Gunpla didn't sell.

>made for the American audience

What are you talking about? MSiA were released in Japan before they saw releases in the US and continue to release figures afterward that never saw any retail presence in the US (for example most of the Version 2 figures).

>>6387109
>but they were straight up MSIAs?

Yes. The only difference between the releases tend to be paint applications. The Japanese versions of many figures don't have things like faction insignia, unit numbers, character insignia, but also tend to have darker overall colors. There were also a few exclusive US color variations like the Submarine color Gogg and the Desert Dom.

>non-Gunpla Gundam figures now?

There are Gundam Fix Figuration and Zeonography which were made during the same time as MSIA. GFF and Zeonography were a sort of middle step between MSIA and Gunpla, for collectors who wanted the detail of Gunpla but without the need to assemble and paint.

>>6387124

I have almost everything UC regular release and a few Dengeki/Hyper Hobby exclusives. I'm just missing a few things from Zeta and ZZ. And the three big items I mentioned in my other post.

Of course I also buy extra grunts when I see them so I have a ton of Zaku version 1s, with this order from Mandarake I have 7 Zaku version 2s, three GM version 2s, 9 GM version 1s, five extended Zakus, a bunch of extended Goufs, a few version 2 Doms and a version 2 Rick Dom, a bunch of version 1 Doms, a shit ton of regular and extended Gelgoogs.

I just need to get a few more of the ZGok grunts and I want at least one more Acguy.

If I see them cheap enough I'll probably grab more ground type GMs, GM snipers, GM Customs and GM Cannon IIs.

I plan on putting together a terrain table with 1/160 scale train stuff to do a table top game/diorama.

Looks like the new Lancelot and Guren are essentially rereleases of the previous ones, but with new accessories, the Float Unit for Lancelot and the 3 pronged claw for Guren.
As far as I can tell, its the same molds. Guren also comes with the regular claw as well.

Hyped regardless. Love that Geass RDs are back and I really hope that we get more KMFs.

I wouldn't get hyped until they announce a new mold. This seems like classic Tamashii bullshit to me. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens after this.

In all honesty? I don't even care if we get old molds with new stuff, as I still want all the remaining Alexander variants. I would buy every single one of them.
Theres still the Liberte, RedOgre, the 3 different Valiants and even the Drones.

The Alexander is still one of my all-time, absolute favorite RDs.

>>

I thought the whole point of P-Bandai is that they make as many as people order. Why would the American site have a limit?

Don't get me wrong, the system is far from perfect. But if this gets enough support then they may make an official US P-Bandai branch down the line with better systems in place like cheaper shipping and higher stock quantities.
>>
>>6399507
The "american" site is actually the pet project of the Bandai Asia branch. That's why they're limited in what they can sell and why there might be odd order size limits. That's also why the set shipping cost is so high, as well.

With any luck the experiment is enough of a success to warrant opening up a proper Bandai US once more to handle this sort of thing.

for display in a different mode, or just to keep mint in box for the satisfaction of having one as a collector's item?

I did that for Sirbine and VF-1 Armored, but I think it is better done with super rare and limited items and items that don't have a window box.

I am very, very afraid for the thin clear plastic wings (with teeny tiny balljoints) on my Dunbine RDs. Hell, just inserting them into the sockets was one of the most nerve-wracking things for me. Have any of you ever broken one, or heard tales of someone breaking one?
>>
>>6401028

I haven't put the wings in half of them because of that. Why the fuck they made the sockets out of the hardest plastic instead of something soft is a mystery to me. The ball joints are so tight on mine.
>>
>>6401028
Use mild heat from a hair dryer or water to get them in easier. Lube might work too, a little oil, but that can get messy and mess up your joint popping mojo

Don't forget, preorders are July 3rd at the usual time. So that's ~3 AM Eastern Monday morning.

RD Guren mk 2 (Early season 2 repaired/replaced radiation emitter arm type) and Lancelot + Float Device are up, plus the RX-78-1. The Hi-Metal R VF-2SS + SAP Unit is also going up tonight and looks fucking amazing. Everything but the Guren mk 2 is November delivery, with Guren mk 2 being December.
>>
>>6401307
Well, even if it someday ends, it'll probably immediately transition into a newer and better one. Kind of like how MSiA transitioned right into RD itself, or Souchaku Henshin transitioned into SH Figuarts.

>>6401028
Speaking of this, I got a new Dunbine RD today and while inserting the wings, I had a terrifying moment where I was exerting too much pressure and the wing shot forward and into the solid plastic of the back. I could be wrong here, it all happened so fast--but I swear the wing BENT, like a significant amount, and then snapped back into place. I examined it for stress marks or cracks and couldn't find any so....now I'm wondering if I imagined it, or if Bandai made the wings out of some gloriously flexible and durable plastic.
>>
>>6397882
They still haven't rereleased Seiten after all these years.

Just put the wings in, you cowards. Worst thing that happens is they break and then you don't have wings in your bugbots in places where you already didn't have wings in your bugbots.

Seriously, I've never had any of them break. And even if it does, it's not the end of the world. Be brave. You'll love how posing the wings can really flesh out a dunbine figure.

We are in full anniversary of 00. After the QuanT the Next one is the Arbalest. A Non Gundam thing. Happy now?

Looks like the upper body is too thin and the torso is a bit too long but otherwise it looks nice. Was hoping for perfectly accurate figures, though. Especially when it clearly look nicer when it's accurate.

It's the first completely 'new' product in the 00 anniversary line (that's not a re-release or add-on set). I only hope they do more because most of the announcements have been lackluster so far.

It's certainly nothing compared to SEED's anniversary a few years back that saw a mountain of new merchandise, and accompanying HD remaster.

>BORING.

I'm pretty sure every time Bandai starts a new action figure or model line we're going to have to get through the whole Exia/00/Quant/Freedom/Wing Gundam lineup over and over.

The Japanese love buying these suits I guess.

It's statistically proven that protagonist mecha sell a lot more.

Too bad the protagonist Gundams are always the least interesting designs in each series.
