I got Weirdwolf recently and his back doesn't feel rubbery to me at all honestly. Plus I think they might have solved the cracking issue cause mine is totally fine after many transformations. Combiners are getting really good and solid though. TFC's Seacons are quite comfortably the most solid and well made combining robot team ever made, perhaps save for some SoC Megazord with much simpler components.

This is going to rock the foundation a little bit, but opinions are not facts. Just because you don't like the way something looks does not mean it's a bad product, nor does it mean that's objectively bad looking and no one else can like it. Build quality is a different and more objective measure of quality.

I think both Zeta and Unique Toys' take on Bruticus far, far surpasses the smaller, lower budget, and poorly proportioned UW/CW take on the combiner. This is as it should be seeing as third parties are for a different market with a higher budget.

While not as poseable as newer mp's it does a fairly decent job and has a fun transformation, and unlike takara's version it'll have less paint so less chance you can fuck it up if you ham hand it if that's a concern (by less paint apparently takara's is painted red and hasbro's past one and possibly this was using plastic red?)

Its a great figure, I own the takara reissue but the hasbro one will be cheaper, if not, shelfwarm into a clearance sale, I reccomend it

The only problem with either of those 2 are aesthetic issues (despotron is dreamwave styled while mightron has a worse back than mp36 as well as both of their legs and gunmodes) but yes, their transformations are more fun and less scratch inducing than mp36.

There's another one, maybe it wasn't Hasui, where the guy said that the goal of the MP line at the time was to recreate characters from the first 3 seasons of the cartoon ("first 3 seasons" caught my eyes because people were super obtuse about how characters from the japanese sequels should get the MP treatment back then) with a few small homages to other versions of the characters here and there as long as it didn't altered the cartoon look too much. It's not just that they didn't have the engineering. They also added sculpted detail that wasn't there in the cartoon. Look at the rivets on MP-10. The lines on Lambor. Hell, Grimlock took the cartoon look and gave it greebles that only the toy had. That's what people mean by having a balance between toy and show.

I'm not saying that either is better. Just that there was a specific kind of design style to earlier Masterpieces, and the current design style (smooth panels and very strict cartoon accuracy) is different from that.

For pretty much half of the MP line the goal was to create perfect figures of the characters using their toys, their animation model and their alt modes as references for their MP design. Their designs were an amalgamation of all aspects of G1 and the character, not a complete focus on their animations models and leaving everything else as an afterthought. We wouldn't have had things like MP Wheeljack with a toy deco if they were always obsessed with animation accuracy like they are now.

And honestly I find it hard not to call the animation accuracy an objective detriment to the figures after Megatron. Megatron goes to absolutely ridiculous lengths in its transformation just so it could have a "perfect" front silhouettes while the rest of the toy is a mess of folded panels, when the fact of the matter is that it would have been much better off a transforming toy if they didn't have overly complex engineering they couldn't do before. Megatron could have had a traditional gun transformation that has been proven to work perfectly countless time by 3Ps and improving and innovating on it with their new engineering capabilities, rather than completely overhauling it and creating a panelforming nightmare so tedious that people don't want to transform their fucking transformer. And it's not just Megatron, Sunstreaker doesn't look anywhere near as awful as Megatron but I can't help but feel that His transformation could have been significantly simpler and more aesthetically pleasing had they decided to just use the actual vehicle mode's hood and windshields for the chest instead of obsessing over their perfect front view.

And if you want to talk about prices too, then our new and "improved" MP engineering has resulted in a Megatron that's over 200$ and a 120$ carbot. I'd much rather the old and simplified engineering we used to have over overpriced toys.

I want what the MP line started out as. Very VERY simple.

Look for for Bee to be a midsized racer. Bigger than Animated. Not quite a Camero.

The new show doesn't have a home yet. CN is still a possibility since they've been pushing the G1 reboot idea since Armada.

It's basically a complete update of G1, with a lot of the same BGM. The toys will be split between the more kiddie oriented gimmick toys and the Generations style figures with more articulation and paint. They'll be a lot more expensive than the current Generations Deluxes as a result.

Don't dismiss the kiddie stuff tho. Combination is definitely going to be a big part. Imagine Transformers as a full on Brave show. Those big ass kiddie combining versions of Prime, Megatron and their partners are right out of Brave, Eldran and Sentai. Big chunky bricks of (hopefully!) glorious sturdy plastic.

RID Blurr is the Blurr in my collection and it won't likely be replaced as I don't even like G1 Blurr over RID Blurr, and the rest of the line is pretty solid save for a couple of slips like Sideswipe and Thundehoof.
