ITT: Post your filthy dusty toys
It seems that as soon as I dust, a 1" thick layer of dust develops a week later. I feel like I'm the only one with this problem. My whole collection is covered in dust because I've given up hope. The dust is never fucking ending.
I feel like a fat person posting pictures of them self to mentally shame them self. But this shit is literally unmanageable.
no, you are not alone, dust is pretty common
however the rate of dust can be helped by generally cleaning, having air purifiers, closing windows, etc
looking at your pics your dust looks animal related, do you have cats?

Can't really afford fancy glass cases. I was thinking about investing in some retractable window screens to mount onto my bookshelves that house my figures so that I can just pull the screen down over them so they aren't sitting there to get dusty, though I'm not sure if the idea will work. No animals and I only have the AC running most of the day.

It's funny you say that. Unless I have mice (which I'm relatively sure that I don't) I don't have any pets. I do have carpet flooring and I have my shelves in the same room that I sleep in (I live in a studio apartment). So there are linens constantly around my collection.

Dust also comes from fabrics, carpets and YOU.
That's right, dust is one instance where literally KYS works.
I've come to the realisation that I'll never truly get rid of dust. So I'm just investing in a proper display cabinet for my expensive figures, while leaving my budget toys on an exposed shelf. I still dust once a month or so though.

i only say that because the dust looks like it has longer fibers compared to more specs like dirt
maybe your linen and carpet shed a lot, also maybe your AC needs to change the filter or get a better one
i would also recommend vacuuming more

Do you have those Japanese value shops or similar? They sell budget display boxes. Those are made of PP plastic and aren't as clear as acrylics or glass, but they only cost a buck or two.
Alternatively only leave the toys with no metal parts outside your case, stuff like marvel legends. You can dump them in a bucket of water or your dishwasher to clean them off.
I notice that if I mess with my toys they don't get dusty, as if jostling them every two weeks or so makes them immune to dust. If I don't touch them for a while they get super dusty like OP's.

I'd rather have dusty toys than no animals.
