I need /toy/'s help in figuring out what this toy I had as a kid was. It was basically an anime-looking guy in blue who had attachable armor that looked like pic related, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't related to virtual on. It was part of a series, with a green one and I think a pink or red one that was a girl. I got it around 2002, but it was from a weird comic shop so it could be from the like mid-90s forward.
Help me, /toy/, your my only hope
>>6289869
was it possibly a Ronin Warriors figure?
>>6289871
No, I had a one of those (that green one actually I reckon) but it was definitely more futuristic, the helmet was a lot like the Virtual On, but it had a white and blue color scheme.
Get Ride Amdriver? Main character has this gunblade thing like Temjin
Was it DICE? It's usually DICE or Xevoz.
This?
>>6289993
Wasn't either of those, earlier than Xevoz and less flashy than Dice, more 80s looking I guess, kinda like Bubblegum Crash
>>6290792
Was it this one? Series is name is Borgman, with toys made by Sega.
>>6290882
Assembled figure.
>>6290885
There were also green and pink ones, like you said.
>>6290886
No, but that's pretty close
>>6290900
Do you remember anything about the packaging? Was it English or Japanese?
Microman?
>>6290909
English I believe. The armor was really bulky, like it was a normal slim-ish guy but with a big bulky chest piece, head piece, and boots.
>>6290947
Only thing I can think of now is the Blue Swat seiries, but I don't think those ever had any english-language releases. Did it have any metal parts? Was it preassembled, or was it like a model?
>>6290977
Pre assembled, all plastic, a relatively soft plastic too on the armor.
They weren't beetleborgs were they?
There was a blue, green and red/pink one (girl).
Don't know if they made snap on armor ones, though.
>>6291039
They did, actually. Not sure if it matches OP's description.
Ace mccloud from centurions maybe?
>>6291135
He has the face of arnold schwarzenneger
>>6289869
I'm amazed how no one in this thread has managed to point out that this is a Virtual-On figure. Either they're trolling or the jap mecha guys aren't online.
that is a figure of a Temjin from the SEGA Virtual-On games, most probably the arcade version.
>>6291937
>but I'm pretty sure it wasn't related to virtual on
I, uh, wonder who's trolling here.
>>6289869
It's almost 100% from that failed card/dice/tabletop game based around action figures that everyone mentions once or twice a year and we all forget what it's called.
The red one had wings and a sword. They were like half white/black with a bright accent color.
>>6289871
Man I actually love the mechy style of these old Ronin Warriors toys more than the more show-accurate designs Bandai put out a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure the red and green one's helmets were my first encounter with Japanese robot looking things.
>>6290792
>Bubblegum Crash
Is it really not Am Driver?
>>6291954
Now I am curious.
What are you talking about?
It sounds neat.
>>6291954
Zap Power Force
>>6292125
and a link to showcase each one
https://www.figurerealm.com/actionfigure?action=seriesitemlist&id=787
>>6291959
No, it wasn't some big mecha. It was more Power Rangers looking, like a regular guy with a few bits of really big armor.
>>6292298
Shogun Cyber Warriors?
VR Troopers?
>>6292298
Am driver isn't mecha. It's suited-up guys (and one gal) with hardpoints to attach armor. Their aesthetic is quite distinct though so if it doesn't jog your memory by now then that's probably not it.
Another type of armored Beetleborg.
>>6289869
>>6290947
>>6291114
How about this one then? It seems to fit most of the description.
http://www.microforever.com/LaserMicroman.htm
>>6292311
Slimmer body and bigger armor, like huge chunks of armor only on his chest, head and feet
>>6291954
Are you referring to Jagun Fighters from Bandai? The designs were actually pretty nice but the toyline never caught on because it lacked some sort of media tie-in.
>>6292125
thank you, I am not op but I have been trying to find the name of these things for years. I had them when I was a kid.
>>6290073
Not the OP but I'm 100% sure they never made an MSIA of the red version of the NT-1.
>>6292125
Cyber Cop was awesome
Maybe it's really something from Power Rangers.
Was it something from Saint Seiya?
>>6293121
Yeah, these seem to fit the description. Well the anime looking character underneath and removable armor part.
>>6292318
Damnit you got theme song back in my head
>>6292915
>>6293801
>>6289869
Virtual on. You're welcome. It was a fighting game I had it on pc as a kid pretty dope mechas.
>>6296573
How can one's reading abilities be that fucking awful?
This is a pretty cool thread. I like learning about all these obscure ass toys that all happen to fit OP's description. Good sleuthing, folks.
Genesis Climber Mospeada?
>>6296573
retard
Also for reference.
Just making sure it wasn't Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad.
Didn't care for the show but picked up some of the figures as a kid.
>>6289869
It was from Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram
>>6293158
We R VR
>>6299883
>but I'm pretty sure it wasn't related to virtual on.
That lack of reading comprehension. You didn't even list the right Virtual On game you dumbass.
I can't believe three fucking people now have tried to answer OP without even reading his post first
Did OP die? Did he identify his toy?
Was it this motherfucker, OP?
Z-G Cestus Merc by Atomoton. Action-figure ccg hybrid line. Released early 2001, series had two other figures- the green Armada Ensign and red Vanguard Trooper- and one wave of CCG booster packs. Unfortunately the company's offices (or maybe the distributors?) were somewhere in or around the WTC and 9/11 pretty much put an end to them.
>>6291039
Holy shit anon I completely forgot I had one of these. Always wondered what it was
>>6302591
OH SHIT THATS IT! I cant believe you found it, holy shit THANK YOU
Can't believe this one got solved, this is one of the most varied "whazzis" threads I've seen yet.
>>6302591
that's crazy that someone figured this out. I grew up with Virtual On and if I had seen this figure, I really wouldn't have thought it even remotely looked similar, other than the oversized shoes and general color scheme. Good job anon.
