>a happy meal set where each toy can conceivably function on its own
>it can also combine into a full action figure
has this been done by anyone since?
probably the coolest toy from my childhood
>>6259763
I just wish it was cartoon Gadget and not dopey faced, Hit-and run murdering Matthew Broderick.
>>6259763
Holy shit, that takes me back. All I had was the left arm, but I was in that age/poverty stage where that was enough.
>>6259783
see, that's why i like the concept so much. a kid could have just an arm and it'd still be a great toy
just wanted to dredge up some more nostalgia, but anyone remember these?
the backstreet boys and stan lee (!) came together and made a superhero team, and burger king put out a set of kids club toys
never got the whole set but they look fun
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backstreet_Project
>>6259786
Oh shit I had the red one way to pull this out of the recesses of my memory.
>>6259784
Yeah, but it had to be the left arm since the water gun was pitiful.
This toy, and the fact that it was a potential competitor for Power Rangers is the only reason I remember Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog.
Each set was a hero or villain, and it came with a piece that acted as an accessory, or if you collected them all you could make this dragon.
>>6259996
i only had the black knight, had no idea it was a show
just remembered these guys, never had any unfortunately
(might as well make this a thread about any happy meal toy)
>>6259786
Oh my god I have that Basket ball player toy.
>>6260036
>train sets
like these?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk8Y37AG0Dk
>>6259763
I remember i had some of those. That one is missing the watch/belt.
There was a spykids 2 bug combiner and a power rangers lightspeed rescue zord (pile of boxes) and nifty trains with vehicles inside. I don't remember anything besides those
These were pretty great
>>6260041
I think he meant something more like this
y'all are casuals, here was something truly hardcore, McDonalds Nickelodeon Tangles
>>6260083
there were even dark repaints if that's your jive
>>6260049
Love those connectable kinds. Anyone remember the Captain Hook ship from McDonalds? Might have been early 2000's. And I think there was an Rugrats Movie toy line that was similar in execution to these, but each piece caused the next to activate. Anyone have pictures of that one?
>>6259996
FUUUUUUUG! MYSTIC KNIGHTS!
there was also the spy kids one. mcdonalds toys have gone to shit though, i only buy them when theyre a certain type now
>Look at the kind of stuff burger king and mcdonalds have now.
>Plastic Cups
>Rulers
>Stickers
>A hotwheel car that is like 3 times the size of normal hotwheels and has soft edges.
The fuck happened to them?
>>6260175
again, they had some high quality horse toys a while ago but they really dont give a shit anymore. i remember when they used to do metal hotwheels. that was the shit
>>6259763
I have a great childhood memory of traveling with my family on a vacation to Boston the summer this came out and trying to track down every piece.
Wasn't there a Mickey Mouse too, that was kinda similar to that Insp. Gandget? Like the legs were binoculars if I remember correctly, but don't know what the other parts did.
>>6260145
uhh... Inspectah Deck, Ghost Face Killah, Method Man, RZA, GZA, Old Dirty Bastard, Raekwon the Chef, and U-God?
I know it's not quite a toy but one of my absolute favorite McDonalds promos was when they did the Yu-Gi-Oh cards years back. You'd get two cards and the poster in each meal, but instead of just doing those, every meal included one of three unique CD-Roms themed around Yugi, Kaiba, and Pegasus, each with games and trivia and show clips on them, and as a bonus, if you put the CDs into a CD player they had secret music tracks on them off the official soundtrack of the series.
It was just really cool as a kid fan of the show. Moreso than shoehorned figures of the characters would have been.
>>6260339
>>6260339
>>6260340
>>6260339
Aaaand now I'm laughing because while searching for images I found out that GX did exactly fucking that and did shoehorned toys of the characters and shit. Good lord.
>>6260350
There were a few good ones. Cosmo Queen and Millenium Shield were fun to fuck around with, Ushi Oni was good for one tribute back then, and Goddess of Whim still occasionally shows up in online decks since with some luck her 3 star attributes give her access to weird equips for a base 1900ATK.
>>6259763
They didn't combine, but these were pretty cool. The shells split in half and you could mix and match them to make new dinosaurs. There were only so many combinations, but I was hyped for these when they came out and lliterally could not have gone on living without the complete set.
I dint have it anymore but I have strong memories of a dark green/olive 4 prong claw thing
The coolest toy was the changeables. A burger that transforms into a robot? Hell yeah.
The BK Chicken Run toys were the only complete set of fast food combiners that I ever was able to get. I loved that thing. The march of time is a depressing thing.
>>6259996
>>6260015
>>6260049
>>6260081
Goddamn, I forgot about a lot of these. I have them somewhere in my parents' attic. I need to find them.
>>6260469
I have all of these.
>>6260175
>>6260183
there were even lego sets as happy meal toys.
now everyone panics about choking hazard and other... hazards.
>>6260486
>Special Chicken Tenders for Chicken Run.
>>6260605
This is one of the things I miss the most, the Lego sets were always fun. Simple, but fun. And always easy to get combiners out of - I still remember how these ones had not only instructions for one big combiner, but also for multiple smaller ones in case you only had two or three sets.
>>6260633
And of course the fucking Tohunga/Mctoran. They got their own exclusive comic, poster, lore, AND canon combiner. Plus the alt-color masks were great for a ton of MOCs.
>>6260640
These were a close second, but for child-me pic related was the single greatest time for kids meal toys. I went crazy for these pokemon.
>>6260645
Those were the best. They came out right at the peak of pokemon popularity, were great all around little figures, and even came with a pokeball.
I heard the balls were recalled due to some idiot trying to eat one or something though.
>>6260158
Not from the set you're talking about, but my mind was blown when I discovered that pic related was a real camera.
>>6259763
Kinda related. Transformers Armada had this set that "combined."
>>6260688
>>6260691
Also, Demolisher boner.
>>6260688
These were fun, and so much better than the usual transformers toys we got in the past where the only real transformation was a head flipping back. I think I had Optimus and Hotshot and the ambulance one.
anyone remember treasure planet happy meal toys?
shame i didn't manage to collect all the part
this thing is HUGE
McDonalds Changeables
>>6260732
Red Alert was the ambulance
>>6260785
Those are excellent. I always liked the dinosaur ones better though.
>>6260768
That looks awesome!
>>6260768
I came here to post this. I loved it.
>>6259777
>hit and run
I'd hardly call waking up in a hospital with a broken leg "hit and run"
>>6259763
Hey I had his extending arm
>>6261051
you dumb fuck
http://people.com/archive/matthew-broderick-ends-a-holiday-in-a-tragic-crash-that-claims-two-lives-vol-28-no-8/
>>6261060
Your article literally corraborates everything I said.
>>6261081
>later convicted of the lesser charge of careless driving and fined $175, which the victims' family called "a travesty of justice".
Whatever gets you thru the night Matthew
>>6261127
Do you know what hit and run means?
>>6260116
IIRC I have that whole ship, as well as some of those Rugrats ones
>>6260768
The US had pic related.
>>6260645
I still have my Magnemite Top.
>>6259763
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbNkSkkuNbE
>>6260640
I lost my mind about these little dudes, I used to play that old flash game on the internet when I was a kid and it was so cool to have these little villagers. I tried to collect so many..I know I still have them all too.
>>6261287
I remember that flash game having some great atmosphere
>McDonalds LEGO movie promotions never have actual legos in them
>>6261368
Choking hazard.
This will always be my favorite happy meal toys. I love how weird they are.
>>6260340
i got the shield
>>6260013
I had that guy on the top right, need to find another one of him as he was a pretty rad figure from my recollection
>>6259786
The red guy and the basketball player look like their head sculpts would be perfect for customs of Dante and Randal from Clerks.
>>6261373
I'm not sure that's the reason, lots of happy meal toys still have small parts, Lego probably is just too expensive for them to use as a free toy anymore.
>>6262500
Then why even fucking bother to do a lego Movie tie in? There are a thousand other fucking concepts for them to use. Worst comes to worst they do their thousandth Hot Wheels/Barbie/MLP tie-in
>>6260015
the panther and manta ray were one of my most played with toys as a kid
were they transformers or knock offs?
>>6263304
Real Transformers in the sense that Hasbro licensed the IP to McD's for Happy meal toys.
>>6263306
nice, thought so
i remember playing with the manta ray in the bath all the time
the panther would wait on the side of the bath for the manta to come close and then the manta would leap out of the water and theyd transform and fight
>>6260175
>A hotwheel car that is like 3 times the size of normal hotwheels and has soft edges.
>The fuck happened to them?
Because if Junior hits his little sister with a metal Happy Meal toy, it's McDonald's fault that she gets a cut.
>>6260469
These were awesome. Had a full team of the series 2 changeables, and only managed to get the hot cakes and chicken nugget dino changeables.
>>6260081
in japan they had snoopy versions of these
>>6260049
That's really cool
>>6260469
I remember these. They were super cool
>>6260729
Shit just looked it up, looks like 2 kids died and a 3rd almost died. All kids under 2.
>>6263368
I only had two if the big macs but these were so cool
>>6263368
>fries dinosaur
cool
http://www.templar.com/games/mnog/Player.html
>>6261366
here anon, the flash you were talking about!
>>6259763
idk, I loved the little disk throwing matorans they gave out out too. Still have those pieces in my collection. But yeah, I remember this inspector Gadget was pretty cool.
>Restaurant kids meal toy thread
>Nobody posted best ones
MY NUGGA
>>6265984
I have almost all of these.
I remember trying to get this set even though I didn't even really watch the show, I just wanted to get all the parts for the big robot. Unforunately I missed the toy that came with the head piece...
Mickey was suprisingly cool figure
>>6260645
my brother filled out a form at burger king one day and won the entire set of these. I was mad jelly, but I got to play with them in the end.
>>6263304
Real. They got bios in the IDW profile books, and Manta Ray's put in a couple of appearances in comics proper.
>>6267109
oh also she's a girl
>>6260036
>>6260041
>>6260081
There's an indoor flea market-y type place in town that has a complete 101 dalmations collection
>>6259763
all i had was the right leg, which was a green flashlight
>>6260365
anything similar to this? I'm pretty sure I owned a plush like those, with a plactic opening shell, but it wasn't a dinosaur. It was like a turtle I think
>>6267193
McDonald had a Dinos/other creatures that hatched from eggs.
Super Mario toys are coming to McDonalds after the current Smurfs promotion.
>>6260768
It was the best day when I finally got all the parts and put them all together. I loved BEN to bits.
>>6267212
found it
>>6260013
my man
>>626500
>>6261368
IIRC the actual reason is that The LEGO Group doesn't wanna associate with fastfood chains anymore, which is why the last LEGO-related promotion with actual toys was way back in 2009. The Happy Meal promos for The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie are all the doing of Warner Bros.
Although it's also possible that the actual bricks were considered choking hazards, since even in 2009 they had to make large prefab parts.
>>6259763
>a happy meal set where each toy can conceivably function on its own
>it can also combine into a full action figure
Taco Bell might not seem like they had cool kid's toys. But damn, when they were good they were good. I had almost the entire set of N64 toys except the Star Fox one. While most of them have gotten misplaced over the years, I still have the vinyl Yoshi
>>6259763
This thread has made me feel warm and fuzzy as shit and has also shown how truly terrible it must be to be a kid right now by comparison.
>>6259763
My grandmother went out of her way to make sure I had every piece in spares. Hell it reached a point where I had so many parts that other kids came to me and asked me for them so they could complete theirs.
She was the best.

>>6268471
Its possible those were used in a Japanese happy meal and are now coming to the US. I think Canada isn't getting those toys next though, Their smurf display says that Beanie Boos are the next promotion...
>>6259786
DUDE I havent seen these things in years, we had the whole fucking collection at my house. You just dug up an old untouched memory.
>>6267429
Not really true. Mc D just had a huge promotion with Pokemon toys a few months ago here (EU) and they were flying with the popularity of Go. Also right now they have Transformers/MLP and both figures are pretty good. I have 2 nephews and a niece and they just loved those toys.
There was a Jungle Book set from McDonalds that might have been from the second movie but you could build stuff with square panels.
There's also one from Peter Pan (also from the sequel movie I think?) that you could build the Jolly Rodger from them.
>>6268471
>>6268550
Yes, This is the US version. here is a copy of the promo poster. also after this is Teenie Beanie Boo's ill post that one after this
This follows Super mario
Thank me later :)
>>6259777
burger king had some cartoon Inspector Gadget toys
>>6260768
>never got the torso
200% mad
>>6260148
Air above me!
>>6263368
The pterodactyl was awesome. I had most of them, but that was always my favorite.
>>6267109
The rhino was a fucking wizard!

DICK FINGERS
>>6276059
Cannot unsee
>>6263306
>>6263317
I'd fucking love to buy the Botcon exclusive Unit-3 based on the disembodied lion head toy that was one of the other happy meal beast bots
>>6276803
If you have like 70 USD I'll middleman for you.
>>6260350
I agree, Frog the jam was just too good.
>>6267285
Which Voltron is this?
Stand back everyone. Best toy coming through
The Mcdonalds megazords fit that description. They made one dor Samurai a few years back, but this was the one I remember from when I was younger.
