do all neca figures have the same size pegholes?
also neca general /necag/ /ng/ whatever. we dont have one right now so ill make this post useful
That figure is canceled.
>>6238379
really? why would they show them at the toy fair and give them a release date just to cancel them?
They're supposed to, but no. I bought a pack of NECA peg bases and it only worked for half of them. The other half had holes that were slightly too big and, ironically, they were the ones I bought the stands for in the first place.
>>6238379
>really?
no.
Can't believe they changed them to that awful raw chicken looking translucent plastic.
I already have the single release Hudson and Hicks figures but I was looking forward to getting this two pack for the screaming faces and helmets. Not going to bother now.
>>6238837
It's a more realistic simulation of real human skin, which is sorta translucent. You can probably make it look a little better by combining the two techniques: mix up an acrylic flesh tone close to that and brush some on very thin.
>>6238837
>Can't believe they changed them to that awful raw chicken looking translucent plastic.
You can't believe they'd do something to save money that makes the final product worse?
>>6238842
>It's a more realistic simulation of real human skin, which is sorta translucent
My skin looks a lot closer to the painted originals than shiny plastic
>>6238877
Eh, I should have said 'I'm very disappointed' not 'I can't believe it'. I can definitely believe it, I just expect better from Neca, the quality of their shit has been slowly getting better in recent years.
>>6238884
This. Also it makes the whole Aliens cast look a mismatched bunch of fuckups.
Bishop is painted. Frost is painted. The first Hudson and Hicks figures are painted.
Vasquez was painted really well in the promo shots but ended up looking like a slimy mess in the final release.
>>6238891
> slimy mess
I really hate when internet shut ins judge a toy based on photos and videos where they use bright lights for the shoots.
If you go to your local TRU the figures look much better in person because the transluscent plastic looks more realistic, especially with the washes and paint apps they put over it.
>>6238960
I've seen it in person, it looks crap compared to painted figures like the original Hudson and Hicks. Same with Alien 3 Ripley, what a disappointment.
If you call that a brightly lit shot you clearly don't know shit about photography.
Any new leaks on the Neomorphs yet?
I'm hesitant to PO one.
>>6239155
>derp derp derp
But i do know photography and the light is pointed directly to the toys in order to make it look glossyl ike that.
In normal lighting, it's not going to look like that.
Have some shiny glossy Hasbro plastic that produces more a glare, but doesn't because the lighting is properly defused, which is how most homes are lit.
>>6238837
Shitty photo but this actually makes me curios to get this set now since I prefer the molded flesh tones compared to the originals that were just painted which could look gloppy and flat in certain angles.
Also this >>6238846, I had paint chipping off the articulated sections any time I posed my figures around.
>>6238891
>Vasquez was painted really well in the promo shots but ended up looking like a slimy mess in the final release.
Vasquez looks fine, don't know what you're talking about her being "slimy".
>Same with Alien 3 Ripley, what a disappointment.
That's mainly to do with her face paint (mainly the eyes, lips and cheeks), especially considering how previous Ripley figures has the same molded skin tone and yet their faces turned out much better.
I really like Neca's Marines but i've always thought they work better with their monsters.
Anyway, is there any release date for Raynor yet?
>>6240012
June
Where do you guys buy/pre-order your NECA figs online from?
>>6240149
TRU
>>6240149
BBTS. A lot of people bitch and complain that they get things later than other places, but I stockpile shit in their warehouse for me for literally months and then have it all shipped to me at once. I don't care about having it right now; if I pay for it and know that I'll get it then I couldn't care less.
What's up with the sudden price hike on Neca figures in the UK? I'm talking about predators in particular, but it seems to be affecting other lines like alien and terminator as well.
I was in Forbidden Planet last week, they've got Spiked Tail at £31.99, that's fucking crazy money for a kenner tribute figure.
ebay sellers have got the new wave in stock, ranging from £25-30 for basic non-deluxe figures like serpent hunter and young blood.
For an extra £10 or so I could buy myself an import figure, this is getting ridiculous.
>>6245541
Forbidden Planet hikes up all their stores. Usually the kenner tributes are like £25 online at release
What's so exclusive about it?
>>6247619
his left hand is turned the wrong way, you cant get that anywhere else
thankyou based lootcrate
>>6247619
The exclusive is aspect is that you get the figure early™
>>6238842
At that scale, they shouldn't look like that. The translucent human skin is so miniscule in real life too, and humans aren't glossy and greasy as fuck unless they're sweating.
>>6238852
You're 100% wrong. But keep bitching about it like it means something. It's a better look for the figures.
Anyone else get a serpent hunter with a missing missmolded tooth?
>>6247820
It's almost like they were sweating because the hive is HOT AS FUCK IN THE MOVIE.
>>6247849
>It's almost like they were sweating because the hive is HOT AS FUCK IN THE MOVIE.
Yeah, but it's a dry heat.
>>6247820
>humans aren't glossy and greasy as fuck unless they're sweating
While I can't speak for Hicks/Hudson since I don't own the new ones, if you've actually held either the original ALIENS Ripley or Vasquez in your hands you'd know they're nowhere near as glossy as you're making them out to be. And even then
>Ripley and the Marines
>implying they weren't sweating like pigs in the movie
I'm surprised that anyone's even acting as if this is new when the Dutch figures that are so sought-after were among the first figures to use this fleshy molding process, where they were even regularly praised for adding a more realistic impression on the figures. With this in mind, people complaining about this should re-consider pre-ordering 90% of the Dutch figures since they'll no doubt be re-releases of the same figures back then.
>>6247855
This guy gets it.
>>6248483
Man I wish I hadn't missed out on the Bioshock figures
Legitimately considered getting the Big Daddy Pop! Vinyl because there are no other affordable options
>>6248515
Dude, same. Except I couldn't pull the trigger on the Pop!, had to have to real deal. Currently stalking ebay listings to try and nab one under 50. Bout to just say fuck it and start blowing dough on the whole line as well.
Shame Elizabeth goes for so much, considering that face paint. Wonder if I could contact a customizer to fix it up.
>>6247855
Shit Man I love my Vasquez and I will eventually get Hicks and Hudson ... I'm a poor fag now but soon that'll be different and I'll get them
>>6248657
Oh wow that's a horrible rotated pic
>>6248515
I'm glad I bought in early. I hadn't even played Bioshock when the first Big Daddy came out, but I bought him and then picked up the first game. Now I have every figure and I'm so glad.
It also sucks cause I just think about what I could've missed out on if I hadn't been proactive in spending money on plastic shit.
>>6249103
That's not true at all. Like, this is the most hyperbolic of hyperbolic generalizations anyone has made in this thread.
And not all Elizabeth figures got a derby paint app, so...again, you're overreacting.
>>6249109
Read what I said again. It's not just the derpy eye paint that's a problem. They consistently fuck up the lip paint as well. Literally EVERY Nova I saw had fucked up lips that betrayed the original decent looking prototype. I went through 40 of them trying to find a decent one before giving up.
I'm not going to be shocked if Sylvanas has the same issue. NECA (and many other lines) have consistently had problems delivering on women.
>>6249118
Read what I said. You're overreacting. It's annoying, so stop it.
Just been to the grainger market in Newcastle, apparently the new predator wave has been massively popular, there was only two Elders left and one Serpent hunter in fantastic toys.
Forbidden Planet had them too but I prefer to buy from the independent shops.
Man where is this bitch?
>>6249131
My Nova was good but I do always see some meh looking Novas out in the pegs.
>>6249171
She was supposed to come out in Jan wasn't she?
So what Preds you think they will use for the next Kenner Tribute? Finish the series with Lasershot and the unproduced ones or another batch of repaints?
>>6248607
Looks like Nicki Huntsman
>>6249131
You're acting way out of line over a plastic play thing.
Oh baby.
Just bought a Booker, first step into my complete Bioshock quest, what am I in for?
>>6249053
Wish they would've released a regular male splicer. What are your faves from the line? Should I double up on anything?
>>6249363
Nice! Can't wait to find them around here.
>>6249378
The Big Daddy with LEDs was pretty sexy. I remember almost passing it up because it was just the LEDs that made it different...but boy howdy, it was such a cool gimmick! Like, the yellow, green, and reds were all super bright.
>>6248607
There's a video on jewtube that shows how to fix her face up
It's actually pretty easy and she looks so much better
You just add eye shadow and make her lips a pink, so pretty much the image on the right, but not as sloppy
I managed to pick up an Elizabeth for nonscalper prices a month or so ago from some ebay store that didn't know any better
>>6249527
That thing is like $100+ now
>>6249318
That and Natalie Dormer
>>6249103
Anya Stroud look fine
>>6249527
I have this fella and found out today his green lights aren't working anymore... he's just been on my shelf, but I almost wanna cry dudes, he goes from mild to angry and he can never be happy again.
>>6249152
REE GET OUT OF MY CITY
just kidding please be my friend im so lonely
I ordered a play arts kai Alien Lurker to see how it stacks up against Neca's offerings.
>>6249999
Nice quads senpai
>>6249949
Yeah, there's a ton of Neca fems that look stellar. He's just butthurt about his waifu it seems.
>>6249363
Does that missing tooth on Serpent annoy you? My ocd drives me crazy when I look at mine.
>>6250201
uhm, pretty sure NECA is in 7" scale and PAK is 10"
I honestly hate PAK for not going the extra mile and just making 12" figures
>>6250424
Uhh I didn't mean I was going to compare the heights of each figure, I meant more of a general comparison between paint/articulation/durability. I don't mind having an oversized xeno cause my headcanon is they should all be different sizes depending on the original host.
So my purchases lately are unsurprisingly Predator and Alien-centric. Still waiting on my Raphael to ship from EE (which...apparently won't be happening till June now, wtf).
The newest preds are all great. I would say, be careful with the skirt on Serpent Hunter, as there are some connecting straps that can strain and pull apart if you're too rough on the legs or pull them apart too far, etc.
I'm gonna add some Elmer's glue to Youngblood's left hand so it'll have more friction so I can have him holding the spear up more securely.
And Elder...he's just gorgeous. I love that cape. The material is so soft and hangs nicely.
And I picked up the Hicks and Hudson 2-pack. I have the old figures, including the previous helmeted packs, so this was a redundant purchase on my part.
But I really do think the new plastic is a huge improvement. It looks more natural to me, and I hope they continue to use it in the future on whatever marines we're lucky enough to get later on.
Good purchase for those that missed out though, no question.
I just want this guy to have a prototype already
>>6250440
>I don't mind having an oversized xeno cause my headcanon is they should all be different sizes depending on the original host.
I think that's more or less exactly what it is in canon. They take traits from the host, a predator alien has the mandibles and dreads, dog/ox has digigrade legs, a big ass guy probably produces a big ass alien.
just got my first neca. have a few other preds and ayy on order. anything i should know? i loves ahab in the comics, is he worth it?
>>6250405
Seems like a factory error, because the one I found was fine, whereas the others from the same casepack had the missing tooth.
>>6249378
Alright, so I'm going a little fucking nuts. Ordered Washington Motorized Patriot, Elizabeth, and a Ladysmith Splicer. With how much I've spent so far, everything averages out to just a little under retail, so that's good I guess.
Looks like there are knockoffs of the Spider Splicer 2 pack figures going for pretty cheap, so I might grab those.
>>6249527
This was my first choice, because the option to have different lights is amazing, but shit they're hard to come by.
Also, getting pretty annoyed when I think I've spotted a good deal on one of these things, only for the figure to be broken or have several missing pieces.
>>6251970
Pic of yours? Every single one I've seen (in the 15-18s) has been missing a tooth.
>>6251977
It's on layaway, but I'll take a pic when I pay it off.
Fucking hell Clan leader is hard to find
>>6251866
Gauntlet blades are extremely fragile. One broke rigjt out the box for me. I just lopped the other off and use the ones from celtic or scar.
>>6252025
I didn't have that problem although being neca it's not hard to imagine. I however had the extended combistick break on me. I glued it back together and you can't tell but you have to be gentle with it
>>6252025
Thin pieces of plastic are typically fragile, yes...that's how that works.
>>6252078
Hurdur. Yeah, just wished they used they same thick blades as on the avp preds. But mehh.. its aight..
>>6252152
>The AVP blades aren't flimsy at all.
Nope, but they'll still break if you put any pressure on them. My cat decided to rub her cheek against some and broke them after I first got them. Thankfully that was an easy thing to replace.
>>6252156
That's ridiculous. I haven't had a single pair of blades break and I've had them bent at almost 90 degree angles out of box before straightening them out.
>>6252177
>I've had them bent at almost 90 degree angles out of box
This is 100% a lie
>>6252247
And having them snap because a cat rubbed against them isn't?
>>6251977
Not that anon, but here's mine. I just gave him a battle scar on the mask to coincide with the missing tooth. On top of that, one of the gauntlet blades got fractured, so I just lopped it off and used celtics
>>6252272
Do you think cats are weak or something
>>6252805
Oh and made a pigsticker out of the unbroken one.
>>6252806
How does a figure stay standing if something is rubbing against it hard enough to snap plastic.
>>6252850
How does a non-flexible piece of plastic with minimal tray space bend almost 90 degrees in the box?
The world may never know
>>6252853
The serpent predators left hand does not have a tray under it.
So back to my question.
>>6251102
Even in NECA's promo pics, the connecting straps on Serpent Hunter's skirt got torn apart. Almost every YouTube figure review on Serpent Hunter had the missing tooth on the bio mask. Anthony's from AnthonyCustoms was the only one that I saw had a perfect head sculpt
>>6251102
Returned everyone but the elder.
The quality is beginning to slip again on the preds back to where it was before the launch of the new AVP bodies.
>>6252910
Fuck, I didn't even notice mine was fucked up until you mentioned it.
How can a mold error like this happen on a brand new head sculpt?
>>6253046
It honestly doesn't look bad to me, like a chipped tooth is believable.
>>6253051
It would look okay if he had battle damage on other parts of his armor, but just the missing tooth on his mask looks silly.
>>6253059
Nah, it kind of gives it charm.
That said, it is a curious thing that it's happening on like, every single figure, and I do wonder if they'll be running it again or fixing the mold.
But I can live with it.
>>6252860
Who said the figure remained standing?
>>6251866
Randy recently hinted at redoing Ahab.
>>6253678
>Randy recently hinted at redoing Ahab.
And here i was thinking "Ok, only a few more and i'll be done, it's not like i need any more preds or anything..."
Damn, Ahab with updated articulation maybe a few exta accessories will be really sweet!
>>6253424
Everything about it suggests the figure was standing. Unless by 'rubbing against it' he meant 'my cat laid down on it'
>>6253822
>Everything
Literally nothing about it. What you imagine is not what's implied.
>>6249179
>MyMaiden
It's shit like this that makes me wish I bought/could afford more of their 18" stuff. That's goddamn fantastic.
Fingers crossed they pull their voodoo magic and get these into the smaller scale somehow.
>>6252805
clever.
>>6253716
Yeah, Randy said that if they do Ahab again, it would be an Ultimate release.
I have way more of a problem breaking open spears than I do gauntlet blades, things are thinner than a spaghetti noodle.
>>6254583
Yeah, I've never had a broken blade (yet) but I have a couple busted spears. The plastic on them and the blades is super brittle so i just set them up and never mess with them again
>>6254609
That thing is misassembled or poorly designed anyway.
>>6254621
>That thing is misassembled
Yeah, mine was slightly warped so the flap never closed straight over the control panel, I think that probably contributed to it breaking off so easily.
HoTS figures keep being delayed because blizzard is a bunch of faggots, apparently.
Neat
>>6254922
So where can I get a Mauser pistol?
>>6254735
Well as long as the figures turn out good, it's worth the wait.
>>6254735
GDI they're going to cut Brightwing for someone popular, aren't they?
got this custom off ebay, i really like how it looks
>>6253051
but...it's not an actual Xenomorph head. It's a crafted mask.
>>6255903
a xenomorph can easily damage a predators mask.
>>6255519
Where you at, homie?
Looks nice there.
>>6256369
usvi, boss man
>>6255903
Right, but as rough and tumble as Preds are, it's easy to imagine a face mask that ornate can get fucked up.
>>6255949
> making up stories to justify manufacturing errors
Does NECA customer service cover overseas purchases? I'd hate to receive my Serpent Hunter pre-order just find out it's missing a tooth and with the amount of pics I've seen NECA retweeting the guy, it seems like a widespread manufacturing defect.
>>6256955
No, sadly. They used to but stopped. You can try though, last time I tried was about a year ago to no avail. They said they could ship it to a US address for me but not straight to me.
>>6256862
when did i do this?
>>6257442
>cant into english
all i said was a xenomorph could eaisly damage a biomask, also lots of predator masks arent symmetrical or uniform.
>>6257442
Getting a little touchy over nothing aintcha?
>>6252805
Dude, that looks extra legit. How did you do that?
>>6257773
Not that anon, but my guess would be drag a hot knife across it and then paint it silver to make it look like exposed metal.
>>6257780
Probably you're right, if you zoom in there is a slightly different shade of silver around the scar
so... what are the chances of broken tusk next wave?
At last. I feel like something's off though. Looks like they went with the cartoony in-game style for Elizabeth, but the realistic cinematic style for Booker.
Still searching for weapons and vigor bottles
>>6259445
>searching for weapons
Funko Legacy Rocketeer has a Mauser, might look a little undersized though
>>6259471
Not bad, thanks. Odd that Elizabeth has a gripping hand, I'm guessing an accessory got scrapped. Got a pic of it in Booker's hand?
>>6259475
I don't have Booker, and the hand definitely can hold something.
The angle really sells it in the picture though, it's not pointed quite straight enough. Though if you cut it her left hand would make a good trigger hand.
>>6259445
>Looks like they went with the cartoony in-game style for Elizabeth
That's because they did. The game went through so many fucking changes before it finally came out, NECA was using outdated models and information by release.
That's why we got a Boys of Silence in the first wave. It had a larger role in the game originally, and by release, it was only in one level and sparingly at that. That's always the risk when it comes to stuff like this.
>>6259512
Males sense, they almost look like they're from two different games/lines. Also between their releases, it seems they stopped painting skin tones and switched to using colored plastic instead.
I'm no expert, but I tried painting Elizabeth and I like her better now. Couldn't get rid of the dead stare though.
>>6259568
>that chunky shit on the lips

your
paints
>>6259568
>>6259656
Kek, looks like herpes.
>>6259656
>>6259665
Yeah that was getting really noticeable as I took more photos. Tried to get it off the best I could. I'll redo it later.
Still gotta find something to put on her pinky, the didn't paint the thimble
Hey guys, thinking of buying the AvP Elder and skipping Serpent Hunter to save some money, do you think i'll be losing much from not buying it?
>>6259811
Elder doesnt come with shit but a variant kambi staff, a mask that doesnt fit well, and a cape thats too bulky on his shoulders
>>6254735
I'm not surprised, seeing how blizzard is having a SECOND clearance sale online for ridiculous prices.
http://gear.blizzard.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=neca
You'd drag your feet too to make/buy more merchandise you almost can't even give away. It's a shame, because I want that classic Diablo really bad and would be really pissed if the line died before then.
>>6259842
>a mask that doesnt fit well
I'm curious about this since I actually want to use the mask if I decide to get an Elder. Is it flimsy or a tad oversized or what?
>>6259811
If you do decide to buy one, make sure you buy it in person. Most of the ones I've seen so far have a defect on the mask.
>>6259811
Dual wristblades are always nice, but Serpent Hunter is priceless if you have an Alien or two to make them battle.
>>6260256
The mask fits really well, actually. I wouldn't listen to that guy.
>>6259974
sounds like i may need another Stitch and get the blonde chick and noface while I'm at it.
>>6259974
>>6254735
As long as they get out there. And look at all the other products on Blizzard's site, they have a lot of their own products on just as deep a clearance. They probably just ordered lots of excess. Buying from the Blizzard store is hardly my first choice for this kind of product, I'd much sooner go to a store, which is probably what most people who wanted them did. People should just consider this a great opportunity to buy them if they haven't had the chance yet. They're quite good figures, Stitches especially.
Seeing a lot of Gordon Freeman figures poppin up on Ebay from China. Worth checking out?
>>6261673
Honestly Freeman sucked anon, but cheaper quality and some more lead in the paint won't kill you right away, so if you want him go for it.
>>6261673
Excellent figure, but no, it's a bootleg for sure. Unless you don't care about that kind of thing...
>>6262069
Let's be honest anon, factory workers have to deal with enough as it is.
Giving some retail for a figure they re-produce themselves isn't the end of the world.
>>6262004
>>6262069
I know it's a knockoff, but I've heard they can be decent sometimes.
>>6262307
Yeah some of these figures probably won't be produced officially again, so it's not like money is being taken away from someone else. I went ahead and ordered a Splicer for like $9, that should give me an idea of the quality.
Wish some knockoff Big Daddies existed. Coming real close to biting the bullet and shelling out 80 for one.
>>6262307
It's not about giving them more money, it's whether the product is a good bootleg or not. If you're buying it and it's a piece of shit, then you wasted your money.
Convince me that I don't need this
>>6262489
It's a nice piece. If you really like the game and like statues like that, then go for it, totally.
>>6262489
>No articulation, statueshit/10
>lousy paintjob makes she looks like she's made of stone or something
>base is all cracked and shit
Yeah, i'd probably buy it.
You knoe who needs a Fawkin Ultimate!?..
>>6262790
I don't see what they could do besides give him a few more accessories.
>>6262489
looks very cheap
>>6262804
That and much better arm artic.
>>6262790
What they really need to acquire the rights to
>>6262790
>>6262804
>>6262811
Fawk that... Better yet... this mfka...
I just ordered the small batman 66 from ali-express. What am I in for lads?
T-they don't make neca bootlegs right? Right?
>>6263019
That shit's gonna crumble faster than a Nature Valley bar
>>6263022
Why would they make neca bootlegs? It's cheap walmarkt toys?
>>6263019
>Make the blood spray just long thin ropes that don't make any sense and get ruined in the package
>Paint them brown.
I still don't know what NECA was going for with this. Not the first thing they've made that they knew would get warped beyond reason in the package, but it just looked terrible.
>>6263724
I think that the color is appropriate, given the fact that Alien blood isn't THAT bright. Still, pretty boring figure, as you can only pose it getting shotgunned or machinegunned
Just found a clan leader at TRU.
Yay or neigh? I love the design but is the figure itself good?
>>6264212
It actually is pretty light. The only times we see it in aliens is in very dark scenes, but iirc you get clear shots of it in alien resurrection and avp movies and it is a bright yellow/green. Especially when the aliens escape in resurrection.
I think the stains it left in alien were that same color, too.
>>6263027
Okay for a bootleg that looks pretty sick actually. It looks like the old Warlock Metamorphosis.
>>6252805
Moved the placement of the holster to the back. The handle of the blade was rubbing against the knew and getting annoying.
>>6264692
The Kenner Clan Leader? He's pretty fucking boss.
>>6263724
Well you proved you don't own the actual figure. Plus you're posting a Jin custom, so you are, in fact, a huge fucking troll. So fuck off.
Wish he had just a bit more articulation
>>6265215
>Plus you're posting a Jin custom
That's not a jin custom.
>>6265215
Canofbeams made that blood, not Jin.
You seem kinda upset about that post.
>>6265261
I love that figure. I really wish we'd gotten a couple more splicers, but it was nice to get at least a little more variety outta Bioshock 2.
>>6262489
Bioshock Infinite was pretty terrible... so no.
>tfw my main Bioshock collection consists of Subject Delta, Omega, a regular Big Daddy, 2 Big Sisters, Eleanor Lamb, and 2 sets of Little Sisters
>tfw I only have Elizbeth from Infinite
The game really put me off from getting any more merchandise since I found the Rapture setting/story from Bioshock 1 and 2 more interesting.
Should I still get Booker just to give Elizabeth someone to pair up with?
>>6265867
But you're wrong, so...
>>6265889
Not that anon, but while it was fine as an action swashbuckler game, I personally felt like it didn't live up to its full potential and because of it, the worldbuilding felt really half-assed compared to the first two Bioshock entries.

I really wish they'd gotten the rights to Bioshock 1. So many more interesting characters: Steinmann, Sander Cohen, plaster splicers, Andrew Ryan.

If you can get him under 20, yeah.
>>6265867
>>6265889
>>6265893
While it was certainly not what it was hyped up to be, I still love it, even with all its flaws. What really blows is the Burial at Sea storyline. Damn near soured the entire franchise for me. I just look at it as bad fanfic now.
Just got the Motorized Patriot in, looks pretty awesome. Bigger than I expected. Can't really get the flags to hang right though.
>>6266337
>I really wish they'd gotten the rights to Bioshock 1. So many more interesting characters: Steinmann, Sander Cohen, plaster splicers, Andrew Ryan.
Sander Cohen with the golden rabbit mask and Andrew Ryan with a golf club + base would have been must-buys for me.
>What really blows is the Burial at Sea storyline. Damn near soured the entire franchise for me. I just look at it as bad fanfic now.
I'm this anon >>6265893, and I just realized I still haven't played Burial At Sea. What should I expect going into it?
>>6266366
It's an attempt at connecting Infinite and Bioshock 1. If that's something you need to see happen, you'll probably like it. I personally thought it was lazily written and needless.
>>6266361
You're going to love the beginning of Burial at Sea 1. It's Rapture before the fall. Everything's awesome. But then you're thrown in Rapture's makeshift prison and then there's the ending. It's dumb. Makes no sense. Adds more plot holes to the story rather than ties things up. But that's not the worst of it.
Then there is Episode 2. You will HAET Episode 2.
It starts out grand as you find yourself in Elisbeth's ideal Paris. It's so goddamed beautiful. But then you're back in ugly Rapture in a hub location of sorts. You're playing as Liz and she's more of a stealthy, Solid Snake type of character. You can't go on a killing rampage because ammo is very, very low and Liz is quite fragile. It's nice to have a bit change in gameplay, but your mileage may vary.
But the ending...
You will RAEG at everyone and everything that happens in the ending. It's a bad end, literally & metaphorically. Pretty much undoes all your hard work you've done in BSI with a slap in the face. We're talking Mass Effect 3 levels of bad ending. Maybe moreso.
So is this neca general now?
If so when are the Preacher figures releasing so I can finally have someone to go with old Ash
So i found these dudes for sale today, might end up picking one depending on how much i save from not buying other stuff online.
>>6268487
You're gonna need that tongue rape alien asap
>>6268487
Damn, i want the GITD Xeno.
>>6268490
Really? Is it a must have in your opinion?
>>6268492
Considering the tongue has a bendy wire in it, yes. It'll creep out guests though
>>6268499
Cool, i was thinking of the gitd xeno and Wayland commando but an extra creepy alien would probably be more fun instead of the Commando.
I have all my Aliens and facehuggers running around my desk, trust me, guests already find it creepy lol.
>>6268503
The Commando is pretty fucking nice, though. I have 3.
I guess this works
>>6268503
The commando is incredibly unfun and limited due to the sculpt. I was so surprised because the compression suits are a lot fun and have way more range.
I was nearly sold on getting the police shootout terminator then realized that his arm barely bends. Is it possible to get him to hold his shotgun like pic related?
>>6271583
No, but that shouldn't stop you from buying a great figure like that.
>>6271604
Sounds good, man. Now I just have to decide if I want a human terminator or an endoskeleton in my movie display because i'm a fucking idiot.
>>6272327
>implying they're all great and well-articulated
also two lines being good doesn't excuse the rest of their output's shit quality
>>6272336
yeah comparing their articulation to marvel legends is being really generous i don't know that that anon is doing
>>6272341
>yeah comparing their articulation to marvel legends is being really generous i don't know that that anon is doing
They're better than MLs, I agree.
>>6272336
> minimal torso articulation
> terrible ankle range
> swivel/hinge elbows and knees that rarely hit 90°
Yeah those two dont have anything in common
>>6272476
To be fair, he figures they can point at as good examples of articulation are still woefully inadequate next to the standards most other lines set.
The average level of articulation is exceedingly poor.
>>6272479
You mean the figures of the longest running lines that keep getting articulation upgrades and spawning more figures compared to much shorter lived lines?
Or are you just thinking of figures whose characters don't do extreme poses anyway? I mean, if you like that it's fine but i don't mind having a Arnold figure that doesn't do the splits.
The problem is that neca is all over the damn place with their articulation.
The xenomorphs are probably the best thing they've got, where they did what people wanted and gave them double jointed knees, elbows, ball jointed shoulders and hips, an ab crunch, but then they gave them HORRID ankles and got help you if you want to do anything with the head but move it up or down.
Then you'll get to non-xenomorph figures and suddenly double joints start disappearing, hip articulation goes south fast, ankly pivot is mediocre at best (still typically better than the xenomorphs, though)
Hell ab crunch disappears entirely for a lot of their figures or winds up getting rendered completely worthless like with some of the predators.
They are also the only company I know that still may randomly decide that one figure is gonna just have swivel shoulders in a line where everything else is ball jointed. What the fuck is up with that?
>>6272931
How much more expensive would you expect an xenomorph figure to be with a more functional ankle pivot?
Specifically how much more expensive.
>NECA defense force appears once again, defending anything and everything NECA does
Gee wiz.
I think the worst thing is that their figures used to be $20 a pop, but now they are $30-$35.
I have to spend $90 to buy 3 action figures from them, that come with hardly any accessories, and nothing cool like swappable faces/hands.
And yeah, what that other guy said about the Articulation being all weird. I hate that. They should work out a standardized systems thats applied to ALL their figures. So it doesnt matter if its a T-800, a Predator, Xeno, Robocop or Ripley, they should all be able to do the exact same poses. Especially for $35 a piece.
Am I the only one that wishes the "Heat Vision" xeno didnt have any paint on it?
I just want a neon green clear Xeno.
>>6273365
Nope, the paint accentuates the thermal visual look. I like it that way.
>>6273365
Don't know, was eyeballing it on a store a few days ago and i kindda like that it has color with the light on too, but i do understand your view.
Anyone ever buy any of the DC bootleg figures? How's the quality on those?
Thinking of getting the Reeves Superman and maybe Keaton Bats.
>>6273215
I'm still paying less than $30 for the random NECA figures i buy. I think my Ultimate City Hunter was $25.something with tax. Sucks for you that you pay the I-Live-Inthe-Middle-of-Nowhere tax, but the toys are worth their real price.
Oh, and that extra articulation at the ankle? That would cost like a dollar or two extra. Or nothing at all, given how NECA has been adding more articulation without increasing their prices anyway. Not the $40-50 prices people have been repeating.
>They should work out a standardized systems thats applied to ALL their figures.
Dumb.
They're a collector company that puts the accuracy of the sculpt and paint first and foremost. To make it standard without taking into account what they're sculpting is stupid, especially when a figure doesn't need to have as much articulation.
The figures look as great as they do because they're investing more into making it look good and that's what the majority of buyers want. It's what put them in business and gets them continued support every year.
If a character needs more articulation, yeah, I'd love that and would pay more to get it, but a lot of what they produce aren't characters that do crazyass ninja shit.
Probably my only complaint is that almost none of their figures who have guns can shoot them properly, but almost all lines have this problem. Only Takara's Microman and Mezco's One:12 lines have been able to produce figures that can shoot properly.
>>6273997
>the character doesnt do ninja shit, so they toy shouldnt be able to
Your entire argument is bullshit. People love to pose their figures in all sorts of different ways. They could easily add more joints to their figures and retain sculpts just fine.
Its only their own lazyness, or cost cutting thats holding them back from giving all their figures the same level of poseability.
Im just thankful that they stopped doing all those shitty figures where the legs where solid brick statues with no articulation at all, with the upper body having shoulders and elbow swivels and nothing else.
>>6274026
You sound incredibly defensive about this Anon.
>>6274046
Those sculpts are terrible m8. Articulation has nothing to do with it.
>>6274046
I like the armor and netting, but that face looks so silly
>>6274056
The sculpts were fine. The paint was terrible.
Either way, this is what you get from a company who is focusing more on articulation than the accuracy of the character.
Bomba vs NECA's 4934098234th Predator Wave
It just shows what more people demand.
>>6274026
>>6274046
The hot toys snap kits were blind box 4 inch figures that you had to snap together, modeled off of candy toys. You are trying to act like this was their actual real attempt to compete with neca when it was a fun cheap, impulse item line.
You can try to be a little more honest, mate.
I hope the Blizzard has another sale when the marines are out im gonna buy like 8
>>6274071
>fun cheap, impulse item line.
>more expensive than a GI Joe despite being blind boxed
Either they missed the point in making you buy 3x as many blind boxes to get the figures you actually want or they're actually collector toys with the "fun" of randomly getting a collector toy. Which they are, considering how they're made. You can tell taht their first lines were just shit, because their last line was well done.
But like the Predators, Aliens, and Space Marines, the Appleseed figures aren't very poseable despite all the articulation. Paint apps were precise and everything that needed paint was painted.
Just shows that Hot Toys just fucked up on from just inexperience on the first lines. OF course, they're still not on par with Mezco or McFarlane's collector attempts at 1:18 figures (Hot Toys were actually slightly bigger than 1:18). Sculpts aren't as nice and the paint, while complex, is still not great.
Briarreos is great though. It's hard to fuck up a robot donkey humanoid. Must buy.
Got the s17 pred wave. Elder is a must buy. Pissed that they didnt give serpent removeable claws. But Youngblood, Jesus Christ that alien spear is too damn top heavy.
>>6274116
Either you aren't familiar with blind box toys or something, but you just d scribed blind box toys.
A lot of them were and still are set up the same way those were. You either buy one and it's luck of the draw, or buy a whole box and get all of them guaranteed.
>>6274376
So would you say Elder is your favorite of the wave?
Should be buying it any time now, will probably skip the rest of the wave.
>>6274555
Easily in my top 5. The cape really sells it along with the unique mask. My only gripe is his wrist blades are tiny, I wish they were Scars blades.
You knoe
>>6274443
Nah, I'm familiar with them.
That guy obviously isn't since he thinks all of them are inexpensive and not meant for collectors.
They can also have way different goals, just like NECA putting sculpt and paint first and foremost. Like pic.
>>6248515
I let the aftermarket fuck my asshole a few years ago, it was worth it.
Got serpent hunter today
he's bow legged... or I guess "Knock kneed"
and one of his wrist blades was bent to shit, I bent it back, but I feel like if it gets bent again is't gonna snap
this figure wasn't as satisfying as I hoped itd be
>>6274699
The hot toys snap kits were inexpensive though. They clearly weren't meant to be an alternative to larger collector grade figures.
>>6275094
>$12 is inexpensive for 4" figures in 2008
>GI Joes were $4 at this point
>McFarlane Halo figures were $9
>7" Diamond Selects were $12
>Hasbro MLs were... wave before the kits came out were $10. Wave after the kits came out were $15. HUGE price jump.
>7" Mezco figures were $13
>NECAs were $12
>DCUC's first wave was $9
They were collector toys.
Again, they put in a lot of features you'll only find in collector toys. The fact that the QC was not there is because they were starting off and the their last kit line proves their goal.
Actual IMPORTED candy toys were $3-5, for the action figure type. I remember eurofags on /toy/ 2 years later posting about their Kamen Rider figures being only 7 USD.
>>6274967
Was it his left upper claw?
>>6275185
the one closest to his thumb on his right hand
>>6275137
I had that Batman and fucking loved it, but it went missing years ago...
>>6274967
>he's bow legged... or I guess "Knock kneed"
Then heat up the knee. It's fine.
It actually looks cool
>>6275137
>McFarlane Halo figures were $9
I am pretty damn sure they had an MSRP of around $11-$13 when first released.
>>6276131
Well yeah. It looked cool to begin with. It's just a select group of autists that wanted to argue that thought differently.
>>6276169
Going to review sites like mwctoys, they have the prices at $9 and i remember getting them for cheaper than that at my Target for a long while.
so the MSRP was likely that.
Is the Xenomorph Queen getting rereleased in May or something? I keep seeing preorders and shit everywhere.
>>6276516
Yeah, it was so requested that they actually had to rerelease it
>>6276516
Yep, yep. Randy said something about improved structure on it, too, whatever that means.
>>6276131
It's being on my list for a while now, it looks very cool.
>>6276899
Damn, i've always wanted the Queen, that thing is beatiful.
>>6276293
I actually did the same thing, went to some reviews that listed where to buy them since the McFarlane site overhaul got rid of MSRPs for sold out products. They listed online sellers which were all roughly in that range. having a hard time finding an actual flat out 'this is the official MSRP' any where.
>>6276293
>>6277348
>since the McFarlane site overhaul got rid of MSRPs for sold out products.
I decided to check the wayback engine. Turns out the old product listings did not have an MSRP at all. However I did further digging and managed to find the figures on the online store dated april 2008. They were selling for 12.99
>>6277359
But that's wrong, considering thats their price in 2012.
In 2015 they were 13.99.
The mark up for Halo toys in 2010 was 11.99 at BBTS and they largely charge more than MSRP
McFarlane's own store sold Halo figures in 2013 for $13.99. https://web.archive.org/web/20131006132448/http://www.mcfarlanetoysstore.com/ha4se2mc.html
Considering how cheap toys used to be in 2008 and the pretty giant leaps in 2012 across the board for all companies, there's no way McFarlane toys' MSRP were so pricy. They're actually really bro with their prices.
>>6277188
Brazil dude, the price is not in dolars.
Went to TRU today after work and found a mfkn Keaton Bats out of fuckin no where!
There were 2, I shoulve grabbed both.
>>6277867
Nice.
>>6277867
Super nice! He's shown up once or twice at ours since the initial run. I saw Reeves Superman recently too. It's nice they can still get those out.
Borderline autistic question. Why is the alien line in clamshells while the predator line is cardbacks? I know they are diffo lines but they are complimentary of each other.
>>6279014
Clamshells cost more so since the predators have more accessories/paint/are overall more plastic, they have to use the cheaper cardbacks as a cost cutting measure.
All of my NECA baddies.
Pulled the trigger on the GitD Xeno and freaking love how it looks!
Shame my camera sucks for dark environments, but the result actualy looks like a one of those lousy cryptid pics i guess lol.
>>6279882
Nice collection, which one is your favorite?
>>6279882
The red Genocide aliens look so good, especially the dog. I kinda regret passing on them, but I have way too many alien figures at this point.
Preordered the Black Xeno Queen. Red Xeno Queen is in the mail and arrives Tuesday. Can't fucking wait, mates.
>>6279882
How did you get your red dog in that pose? The head on mine doesn't bend at that angle. I even swiveled the socket and I can't replicate the pose on yours.
>>6280017
Out of the villains, the Joker or the face hugger suit are my favorite. They both have really great sculpting and paintwork. The aliens are nice, but they suffer from wildly varying qc issues.
>>6280015
Shit. I passed up on that one because of the glow in the dark novelty. Damn if that doesn't look cool, tho.
>>6262818
My nigga. I'd love to see a Neca Max Payne - but he'd have to come with a shitload of guns.
Ok guys, don't let me down.
So I bought these from a local shop few weeks back, love them to death, problem is the elder has a hard time standing straight and his legs just don't look right, I suspect the thighs are on the wrong legs and I never noticed because second I opened him up all I did was a quick articulation check and left him on a shelf with his buddy on the left, not realizing he'd been leaning against the wall.
So, is his legs right and he's meant to stand in certain ways or am I fucked (since its too late to get a refund) unless I can do a diy fix?
I can post more pics if you ask but tell me what to take and how close
>>6280839
The legs look right comparing it to promo pics, they could be warped though. At least your alien mask doesn't have the chipped tooth.
>>6280962
Must be very slight, usually I assume the correct neutral stance for my figures is to the joints are facing the same way at the back, serpent hunter stands fine using this rule but not the elder.
Well least the legs are correct, I just wish not to have to resort to have him lean on his nice spear as a cane
>>6280839
Take both legs in your hands and just adjust the hips that way. You may also need to adjust the waist ball joint, judging by your pic. But yeah, the figure's fine.
>>6280658
And a bunch of pill bottles
I wish TRU hadn't stopped their fucking $20 free shipping thing.
Ultimate Gizmo is in stock and I want it, but...I don't want to pay shipping.

>>6282276

Sorry for the absurd size, posting from phone. But what predator is this?
>>6279882
>>6280022
The shade of red is so much brighter than the official Neca photos.
>>6285818
Yeah, I encountered the genocide aliens for the first time at TRU recently and had to doubletake. At first I thought they might be factory defects or something, they were SO MUCH brighter than the promo pics. I like how they came out, they really pop.

>>6286048
She's pretty fucking cool.
>>6286130
Awwww man that's awful sweet.
Not too long ago I dug up a few of my old NECA figures. The Street Fighter IV Ryu and Bionic Commando Rad Spencer are pretty much garbage, but the Ninja Gaiden II Ryu Hayabusa is fucking on-point even by today's standards. The sculpt, articulation and accessories are all fantastic.
So this got me curious, what are some older high-quality NECA releases?
>>6280839
why does most have chipped tooth while yours doesn't?
>>6277530
You can check the wayback engine yourself if you wish to. I was personally expecting it to be more like $11 but that's what I saw. Also it might help you to know that the site name changed along with the design overhaul. Use to be just Spawn.com
>>6286654
Because it was a widespread molding issue. They're fixing it or have fixed it.

>>6289221
He still shouldnt have to use a hair dryer.
>>6289235
Well boo hoo, toys get warped in the packaging sometimes. It's not a problem, nor is it uncommon.

And here he is, with his new grin. Woo.
>>6289251
>It's not a problem
Yes, it is.
>>6289404
then dont buy warped figures...
>>6289397
The head on mine was fine, but I returned it today. All of the joints were incredibly loose except for the knees and the waist wasn't assembled properly and kept falling apart. I'm just gonna save my money for the Ultimate Jungle Hunter next month.
>>6289404
Sorry, but you are wrong.
>>6289492
If warping isn't a problem then why do we de-warp our figures?
>>6289492
> toy packaged poorly
> negatively affects product
> had to be fixed
> somehow not a problem
If it wasn't a problem you wouldn't have to fix it
>>6289492
When I said my xeno's legs were warped I meant pretend you're holding a glass of water level curled. There was literally no way to stand the figure up without melting and resetting his limbs. I couldn't get it perfect but at least he's passable in a group. Sure I could've returned it but seeing as it's no longer in production I'd rather deal with it on my own.
>>6289492
Yeah, it's a problem, it's not even a brand related problem or anything, any product that gets deformed in package and has to be fixed has a problem, otherwise it wouldn't require fixing it.
If you think it's an easy fix that's fine, but it's a problem anyway.
