For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Bout halfway done now. Dunno if I want a final gloss coat or flat coat with some very minor chipping. I'll have to decide on that once I get there though.

Klear Kote, though it's enamel. If you can get a Future or a lacquer top coat, that would be better.

Always use industrial grade lacquer thinner for cleaning.

----------------

here is my work in progress, run out of gloss. I want another coat on this
>>
>>6227370
I thought it was lacquer. I guess I'll stick to the spray cans even though I would prefer to airbrush it.
>>
>>6227375
Why can't you put a lacquer topcoat over acrylic? I've done it over tamiya and had no problems.
>>
>>6227381
Anon who replied to me said that Klear Kote was enamel and i'd be putting an enamel wash over that. The cans I was talking about was mr topcoat.
>>
>>6227384
Oh, was a little confused. I'm pretty sure you can decant Mr topcoat if you can't get lacquer topcoats readily
>>
>>6227386
Either that or Aqua Gloss since it is more of an acrylic. I just don't trust when they say that water is all you need to clean your Airbrush.

>>
Do I remove seamlines with cement while I am building my model or only after my model have been fully assembled?
>>
>>6227519
depends. Probably easier to do most it while building. Rather than finishing and then having to try and pry parts apart.
Even though that's usually what I do because I like to see how it all looks before detailing it.
>>
>>6227519
up to you.

I usually snapfit the entire kit first with some way to disassemble it easily. It's easier to plan your assembling and painting process with a completed physical model in front of you.

Koto's MGS4 Rex was insane as far as the number of runners go. It had all the runners from the vanilla version (which was already a lot, like 20 or so), and then threw all the battle-damage parts on new runners (adding another 10 or so).

Looking dope. I started my Vidar the other day.

I'm working on painting my Schwalbe. I've got most of the frame primed, but I need another can of primer before I go any further. Kind of going for a ground type Schwalbe look. Gonna try to fit some of those extra Barbados 6th form parts on it and eventually weather it some.

I've got a Jesta and Sniper MGs in the mail. I'm thinking of giving them the Vidar's handguns and going full blown tacticool buddy cops with them.
>>
Anyone got any pictures of metallic or high gloss inner frames? I'm curious what that would look like before I try it myself. I figure the frame would be unpainted metal if it was real life.
>>
>>6227858
Yup, it's pretty much just a reissue of the original kit with a bunch of new runners tossed in for the damaged parts. The instructions only cover the damaged version, though, so you'll need to download the instructions for the regular one if you want to build the railgun.
>>
>>6227786
I feel like the IBO lineup is gonna be your best bet, although a lot of the mobile suits from G-Reco would also fit the bill (the Mack Knife and G-Arcane come to mind).

MGs are like RGs only bigger.

There's nothing that different in terms of building any of the grades, putting together an RG is the same as putting together an HG only it takes more time and there's more parts.

MGs are the way to go though, much easier to detail, they look like actual models on display. Unless your just snapping them together then its whatever, I guess a competition of shelf space.

>Nuka Graze guy knows how to take photos.
DOES he though? I don't see anything special or out of the ordinary about that photo. Like, props to him for actually going outside instead of another lightbox shot, but it kinda sucks in terms of framing and clarity. The best shots there in terms of clarity are Graze D.M. and Grimgerde. Both are adequately lit, clearly show the model with the majority in focus, and don't have distracting backgrounds.

I also give some points to the Graze Dreider photo. It's not great for this, because you want to be able to see all the details in a situation like this. I typically save shallow DOF for cinematic shots where people will already be familiar with the character or toy I'm photographing. But it's got a good feel to it nonetheless, and I like it personally. It's also probably my favorite build out of everything there.

3 new kits are coming. One is a completely new kit (storm Sworder), one is a new armor variant of a previous kit(Sturm Tyrant, so kinda like the various armor options for Liger Zero), and then one completely resused mold in a new color style (Liger Zero Empire version).

aside from those new kits, I feel it is worth pointing out the number of reissues has started to thin down from the past year when they went into a frenzy.

>>
>>6230780
That is tragic. HMM is probably the line I'm most interested in right now and I am hungry for new releases. What's more, I know there are shitloads of incredible Zoid designs waiting to be made...it hurts that the line seems to be winding down a bit.

>>6230784
Not him, but I know my nail polish. That's a multichrome, meaning the color will shift as the light hits it. And while I've never used it on a kit, it works great on nails. The effect varies depending on what kind of light you view it under though. The effect is pretty dull in my room, but out in sunlight the colors shift pretty wildly as you change the viewing angle.

>>6230788
I would not say the line itself is winding down, the number of reissues is but not the line itself. IIRC the resissues built up in momentum shortly before the release of Deathstinger which kicked off the start of the second wave/season/chapter/whatever kotobukiya was calling it after the first chapter ended in 2013.

Considering the fact death stinger released at the end of 2015, and we had no news of what was next until winter wonfes revealed PK Kong, and then after PK Kong we got Gojulas the Ogre, and that was it until this past wonfes. There we get two prototypes and a 'in the plans' for a total of 3 new things.

So I say the large number of reissues during that year or two was because they wanted to keep the interest going until the new stuff started to pick up momentum in releases. If we get another 2/3 kit reveals at Summer wonfes and continue like this for a couple years then hopefully I will finally get my Konig Wolf.

My fellow gentleman of refined taste. Truly a shame the thing seems underappreciated. I really do hope they release an HMM of it with the option parts from the start, or at least the DSRs.

Maybe if it sells really well, they might ask Tomy if they can release an HMM of the prototype designs they had for Konig CAS parts like the Liger Zero and Fuhrer. Would love to see them being allowed to get creatuive and create an entirely new CAS for it too.

Said friend just uses Amazon because he's got that free Prime 2-day shipping.

Mock detail.jpg
145KB, 1400x974px
I'm stumped on part of a build. I am trying to show the cockpit I'm adding to this Mock, but I want to cover portions of it so it only shows the important mechanical elements, which I highlighted in the photo. I tried using Aves epoxy putty by attaching it to the edges and sanding it to the right shape but I'm guessing it doesn't grip/harden correctly because while sanding it always cracks. This is even though I've been told it should cure rock hard, and have tested some consistencies with the same result. I have plastic sheets too, but then they would need to bend. I intend to glue the clear green over the details so it shows through while not being exposed, sort of like a plane canopy.

Do I have to glue the epoxy putty to where it is staying? I feel there's some element I might get eventually, but maybe someone else here already knows that I'm screwing up somehow.
>>
>>6232499
East coast? if you are reasonably close to a big city like New York, there are usually stores there that would carry gunpla. Otherwise, Hobby Town USA and Barnes and Nobles for a marked up price on most of the kits. If you rather not pay the extra ten dollars then you can still get free shipping with amazon prime without being a member, it just takes 5-8 days.

You may scoff at that wait time now, but the further you descend into this hobby, the more you will realize how convenient and cheap that is compared to other import kits. Especially if you try ordering P-Bandai stuff.

Looks like Neo Zeon has veen doing some secret shit
>>
>>6232519
The problem with epoxy putty is that it has no elasticity to it - it'll stay rock-hard and grip solidly provided it's on a completely still, stable surface. But styrene has a little bit of give to it, so when you're putting pressure on the part by holding it still while sanding, it bends just enough to keep the cured epoxy from sticking to them (either cracking or sliding off in a single piece). So what you need to do is find ways to sand the piece while putting a bare minimum of pressure on it - get inventive with tweezers or clips, use a sanding sponge, what have you.
>>
>>6232706
>And with this Neo Neo Neo Neo Axis Mars Zeon will finally topple the Federation!
>>
>>6232710
That just seems impossible, I would need to take off excess of which there would be lots on a large-ish area like a torso cover. And I'd need to cut out a portion of the epoxy putty to show the green clear plastic. Would maybe building a thin styrene base glued onto the sides work and then putting over that to build a slight foundation? Because otherwise this doesn't seem feasible. The only time this putty hasn't cracked was when sticking it into a large creavce that allowed it to have the suppoort of the piece under it, like gap filling. But this is like trying to get the durability and thin element of styrene with the curve of putty using just putty, and then from there cutting into it.

I mean, there are example qwith figures and gundam models of whole parts built solely from putty, this doesn't feel like it wouldn't ever work.

Finished making a budget light box today and gave it a test.

It's much better for sure though I may have made the box a bit too small.

Also under a much better light it really points out your mistakes. Though I'm glad to have found them rather than have it go unnoticed for long.

If they're hiring anyone to design faces they should hire Shunya Yamashita to do one with his trademark beautiful eyes/lips. He loves mechs and model kits and painted a custom face for nendos once. Also he already does do work for Koto so it's not that much of a stretch.

On the topic of decals for FAGs I really want some eyes with black sclera (I actually vaguely remember one of the limited edition kits or something coming with some) and was thinking about trying to scan the decal sheet, photoshopping the eyes and printing them on my own decal paper.

They're all basically the same kit, so it comes down to how much you like clear parts.

Personally I'd recommend the regular Build Burning because the Try Burning makes me want to gouge my eyes out and the Kamiki Burning has that lazy ass sticker for its sword.

Now if you meant HGFC God, then there's only one and it's pretty eh.

Whoops, this was supposed to be in response to >>6233268.

I guess I'll add that I hated all three of the Try Fighter upgrades in general because they basically just spread out the Star Build Strike upgrade (itself already kinda minimal) across three mobile suits. The end result is super lazy.

I personally really disliked how they show us the Cardigan GM and immediately shelve it for an SD gundam. I thought having the SD in the team was a neat idea, but they should have just never even bothered with cardigan then. Such an awesome looking GM and made me think they were going to have her go against the odds with a mere grunt unit.
>>
>>6233445
the gm cardigan was barely new though, take a powered gm & a couple of armor pieces and call it a new suit. They spent way longer on the ez-sr team which got 1 episode too.
>>
>>6232519
I think you need to pla plate it. Calipers, some steel protractor, and a T-rule will do wonders in producing cuts.

>>
>>6233803
Sweet, thanks. It's painted by airbrush with Tamiya acrylics and flat coated with Future that has been made into a flat coat with Tamiya flat base mixed into it.
>>
>>6233445
yeah that too. Maybe I need to go back and watch or at least skim through both series for a proper comparison, but I really feel that one of the bigger flaws of that sequel has got to be not giving all the various enemies whose suits actualy got kits their porper due. First series I recalled a lot more buildup and actual scenes of them fighting in episodes before when they actually fight the MCs.

But again I fully admit I need to refresh my memory before I start spouting that opinion like some sperg lord.

Did the season 1 ibo 1/100 kits sell like shit? They made one for every gundam that showed up that season.

I'm just wondering why I got stiffed out of a fucking 1/100 frame shiden or a helmwige reincar
>>
>>6234065
Wondered the same thing. I'd like a 1/100 full city.
>>
>>6234075
The Gusion 1/100 was a fucking rip off. $50 for a kit where you can only build one.

>>6234065
1/100 always sells worse than their 1/144 counterparts because of price. Add to the fact that you couldn't even have complete configurations because they never released any option kits and it's clear to see what the better thought out line was. Oh you want to recreate the Gusion Rebake with rifles and cannons? Too bad, only one rifle and for cannons you gotta buy 2x Barbatos. They didn't even try.
