I know cybertronian alt modes aren't everyone's thing, but I love them and I recently got some 3d printed parts from a guy on TFW that correct the FoC seekers' manlet proportions. I really like how they look now. I just wish I had some good cybertronian options for the con heads too. I'm tempted just to get another Thundercracker and two Starscreams and make them into Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet.

Logic tells me to vote for Deathsaurus/"Unknown Evil"; its a more interesting storyline possibility, and Deathsaurus has been neglected toyline-wise. I mean, Right now I have a near perfect Starsaber and Optimus Primal chilling on the same shelf, and I have a few pretty great Ultra Magnus figures,too.

HOWEVER, I am petty as FUCK and I am a huge Beast wars fan, so if voting Primal tells Hasbro we want more Beast Wars stuff, I'll buy as many munkys as I can. 3Ps will probably make a Deathsaurus eventually, same for starSaber, but I doubt we'll get a wholly new, Season 1 style Primal anytime soon. There's an Optimal Optimus out there, and a bootleg of the Ultra toy, but not a whole new figure. I'd love a Classics style Season 1 Primal that goes for a more realistic beast mode compared to the MP's cartoon one.

Actually, 3P's probably won't be making a new Starsaber. Not only is he a niche character, he also has an MP. On top of that, if they did make one, it'd probably be based off the IDW version, in that style.

I've said it a few times, but my theory is that Takara had a set budget limit no matter who won the fan vote, and it probably wasn't meant to be an in-scale MP. As in, the MP would've cost the same whether a tinier design like Optimus Primal or Lio Convoy, or a huge design like Star Saber or Fort Max had won, with just minimal size difference. Its just that Star saber's designer took it as an opportunity to make and in-scale Star Saber and stretched the budget to its limits.

Even with the yen fluxuating,and considering things like paint/electronics, Star saber cost me about the same as I paid for Primal. And its so much bigger.

On Takara, it's basically a combination of many things. Currently, they're releasing a A LOT of expensive shit in a very short period of time. They have their rerelease movie line, MP rereleases, MP Megatron, Adventure and Legends. It's seems like they chose to cut down on the other lines until the movie anniversary line, and MP releases pass, since it would be impossible for their audience to amass so much cash with so many releases at once. Still sucks, but there's nothing we can do.

I'm a new fan to the franchise, started collecting the toys and watching the old G1 cartoon after having a blast playing Devastation a month ago (logged 90 hours in it). Wheeljack has become one of my favorite characters but I don't own a figure of him. I can't decide between the Generations figure and the Combiner Wars figure.

The Generations figure has more Wheeljack elements in robot mode like the wings, shoulder cannon, and wrenches but his car mode is too long and his proportions are too squat.

The CW figure has a more G1/cartoon looking car mode and proportions but the non-existent paint apps and no wings/cannon kinda ruins it for me. Which figure would you recommend?

They do release them as mass releases... If they feel like it.

In Singapore for example, we got most the TF exclusives as mass releases except for the TRU ones which are exclusive to the TRUs here. However, they skipped out on all articulated 3.75" figures from the later half of 2016 so we didn't get the SW TBS 3.75" Wal-Mart exclusives or the TRU-exclusive GI Joes. There's no standard globally

The CW is kind of endearing in hand, and if you're capable painting the windshield and maybe the arms and waist will definitely make feel more Wheeljack-y.

If you're feeling adventurous and handy with a Drexel, you give the generations one (imo) better proportions. Alternatively there's a piece on shapeways for extending the legs too. He still has a giant-ass backpack though and that always bothers me.

Personally, I also really like TFP Wheeljack and if you keep his arms folded up he doesn't have such gorilla-like proportions. He has a cybertronian / IDW feel to him that I like a lot, although someday I might replace his head.

Now that Motormaster's knees are tight enough to support pretty much the entire weight of the upper body, I'm kind of happy with just positioning the legs in the intended orientation, only with them straightened out instead of tabbed properly.

It gives him some good height (albeit with some lanky-ass thighs) and actually lets you use the details they put on his legs for combined mode which are hidden in pretty much every fan configuration I've found.

I'd still like that sword extension from the PE kit though...

Of course the MP is the most accurate and you can still find the KO for cheap, so if you just want a standalone Wheeljack, he's your best bet. I just don't have him with me atm to take any pictures.

This probably is my favorite use of this mold though.

Yeah I really try to avoid recommending MPs as chug figures because the overall aesthetic and quality of the two lines really clash, but Wheeljack's MP is one of those perfect transformers.

The CW Wheeljack is pretty nice if you get some more color on him though. Paint up the fake windshield chest and put some black on his arms (basically just copy the UW version) and he's gold.

There's also some upgrade kits to give him wings and a shoulder cannon, but an upgrade kit for a CW deluxe seems a bit much in my opinion.

I bought a KO version for $20 and it's my absolute favorite toy. tight joints, built like a brick, excellent posability, good transformation and looks absolutely perfect in both modes. the only issue I had with the KO version is that his gun is supposed to double as an exhaust pipe in altmode but doesn't tab in properly.

Prime Wars next Gimmick is toys to life. Download an App and scan the card that comes with the figure onto your iphone. Play "stages"(it's unkown what type of game it's going to be) using said character.

Titanmasters will be replaced by equally smaller guys. They won't be headmasters but closer to Micromasters that become target masters or weapon platforms.
Legends will still be able to cart the tiny men around
Prime Wars will still be mostly 88-89 crew. Things like Turbomasters will show up from time to time.
All 5 Dinobots will be made as well as the remaining 3 insecticons will appear. Ransack will show up towards the end of TR as will Barrage. Venom will either be Wave 6 of TR or Wave 1 of PW. He's like Buzzsaw in CW where he may not be able to fit into wave 1.

Last few weeks were interesting for Transformers: The Last Knight. Thanks to our wonderful members, we’ve received multiple catalogs and toy info. And now it’s time to share some info from Portugal where the initial line up of TLK figures were officially announced today. We are giving a shout out to our fellow staff member fallen_revenge for translating the info for us.

Most of the stuff you’ve heard before but the news here is Armor Up Changers. The new line is a rename of 3-Step Changers. The “gimmick” for this year is Battle Masks. Sadly, we do not know how the gimmick works as we do not have any images of the line. But, if you stick with TFW2005 in the coming weeks, we’ll treat you to our coverage of New York Toy Fair 2017 where the line will be revealed to the press for the first time (it’s supposedly there at the Nuremberg Toy Fair since yesterday, but we will not see it yet).

The lineup for the country is as follows:

Turbo Changers will have 7 figures.
Armor Up Changers will have 5 figures
Legion Class will have 9 figures
Deluxe Class will have 6 figures
Voyager Class will have 4 figures
Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet
Turbo Changers are basically renamed One-Step Changers.

Armor Up Changers are renamed Three-Step Changers. The gimmick this time is Battle Masks.

Legion Class: Each figure is 9.5cm tall in robot mode.

Deluxe Class: Each figure is 12.5cm tall. Convert from Vehicle to Robot and back in 10 Steps.

Voyager Class: Convert from Vehicle to Robot and back in 18 Steps.

The problem with them is that they trying to make it fitting into the tracks so you can also play chu-chu train with the rest of Tomy's train set and the bot mode suffers.

I do recall owning the green Raker from the brave series. Maybe they can do something similar for a train tfer, but the robot would definitely not matching astrotrain's look.

So I noticed that a major consensus that doesn't have any major reasoning attached to it is that only fuckhuge bots like the original Fortmax and generations Metroplex have base modes that are good. All others look like a robot that is laying down.

So the question that's on my mind is: What do you, on a personal level, judge a base mode on?

I think the goal, aesthetics-wise, in a base mode is to conceal the humanoid form as much as possible. Which is something that tends to be difficult to accomplish in larger figures since more articulate transformations can lead to stability issues.

A good, simple transformation can be enough for this though. G1 Fortmax forms a really solid looking building that blends everything together smoothly, and Tryp basically flattens out into a very low-profile base that makes good use of its robot aesthetics in base-like features. Metroplex on the otherhand, while having a pretty simple transformation that really doesn't hide anything on its own, has a nice uniform colorscheme that blends everything together in his base or ship modes.

Basically they just need to make sure it doesn't look like a robot laying down
