There are now bootlegs of the Vulcanolog Venom Snake and Figma Gurlokovich Soldier. Anybody have them and can tell how the quality is?
>>
>>6070463
i just bought the gurlokovich soldier so i'll update you if the thread is still around
>>
Revos are pretty finicky, I imagine a bootleg would be fucking awful.
>>
>>6073266
Finicky how?

They're fantastic from my experience.
>>
>>6073277

I own 4 including the one in OP(which has awful hips) and they aren't a smooth experience to move around compared to my Figuarts/figmas,etc.

Not really trying to knock them keep in mind.
>>
>>6073277
is hard to get them in any decent looking pose that isn't a lol action pose

This kinda seems like a meme.

Are there really people who consider themselves connoisseurs of boring vanilla poses?
>>
>>6073314
>I only pose my figures standing straight up
How does it feel to be so boring?
>>
>>6073285
I also own a bunch, and they don't have awful nothing really, all the joints turn and bend as much as you can possibly want them to, they're designed that way.

>>6073314
>it's hard to pose them straight.
>anon posts vanilla pose
>lol it's boring

>>6073390
My experience is that those who complain about posing revos are just bad at posing.

I feel like they practically pose themselves.
>>
>>6073521
>My experience is that those who complain about posing revos are just bad at posing.
This.
>>
>>6070463
>Figma Gurlokovich Soldier
Depending on the price that's really good news, the Figma was insanely over priced for something that's meant to be a troop builder.

I might also be interested if they made some nice bootlegs of Leonidas/Spartans, but only if they added nipples since those figures look creepy without them.
>>
>>6073545
Not really, some of the gaps can be garish in the shoulders. Legs are always splayed out unless you turn them in and then they just look retarded. The clicks still restrict you in what you can do although they are much better than the old revo joints. Pictures that make the figure look good in poses are almost always angled to hide the obvious cutouts in the limbs that were added for extra mobility. It's really bad with the Deadpool figure and its shoulders.
>>
>>6073314
>Not wanting dynamic action poses
>Buys a Revoltech
Kek
>>
>>6070463

that's pretty surprising, there have been no bootleg revoltechs before.
>>
>>6070463
>fag reporting back in
OP here, I just bit the bullet and bought both. See you later in 2 months lol.

>>6073578
I paid 14 USD. I think they can't really fuck up the Soldier since he has no tiny accessories or a face which were missing or misprinted on the Snake Figma.
From the pictures I found searching it seems like the sparkling eyes face has its eyes askew but that could also be just one instead of across the board and I didn't plan on using that part anyway.

The Vulcanlog Venom seems to have a solid grey iDroid instead of printed with silver.

>>6074129
There are quite a few Iron Men and Stormtrooper/Boba Fett/Vader actually and I have a Bootleg Jin-Roh Kerberos Policeman. His left hand broke off when I wanted to swap it. I think that problem won't be on Venom because his hands are on revo joints which are sturdy. They don't make click noises which may be an improvement for meister memesters.

>>6073658
I am always wary of Revoltechs for these reasons + that they look very skinny most of the time. Only got the Jin-Roh and mass produced Evangelion which are old style and much different from current figures. I wonder how the Venom will pose in hand though he looks better than most revos in that regard.
>>
>>6074219
>Only got the Jin-Roh and mass produced Evangelion
You've got some of the best, MP Eva is absolutely gorgeous.

Did you get the weapon, wing or complete version?
>>
>>6074250
The wing only version. Got him because he was cheaper than the complete one but without a weapon he is a bit sad. Posing is great but I don't like how the thighs are just swivels and look misaligned in anything but the neutral pose, a ball would have been much better. And I was disappointed by the scale of both, they are just a head shorter to be 6 inch scale but at least they are compatible with my Doctor Who figures even though I don't know what to do with it lol.
>>
>>6074269
I got the weapon version, but can't help thinking about the great poses i could do if he had the wings as well...

And alot of the earlier revoltechs were roughly about 5.5 inches and came before other lines came to prefer the 6 inch scale. If i remember right MP Eva came out before Figma and Figuarts had even started shop.
>>
>>6073658
>gaps

This.
>>
>>6073277

They don't do neutral poses very well, but are good with hyper exaggerated "dynamic poses"

I think what he meant is that the joints tend to be a little stiff and it's easy to pull parts off. No big deal but losing can get annoying
>>
>>6074219

kerberos protect gear has a bootleg?? How do you tell the bootleg from the original apart??? I was just thinking of buying a couple more jin roh revos to army build my one lonesome one.
>>
>>6074630
Eye color is slightly different, aside from that I can't see any differences between mine and pics of the original, you will most likely only know when you got them in hand. The bootleg even came with a tiny leaflet and a paper strip around the box advertising Revos actual products.
>>
>>6074269
>>6074280

I got the wing version and have always loved that figure. I'll probably end up grabbing a few of the complete reissue sets eventually...
>>
>>6074646

Can you post pics of yours? I'll post pics of mine sometime, I'd like to make sure mine isn't bootleg now that I think of it. If it's a bootleg then I'm ordering a legacy one straightaway lol.
>>
>>6074673
Will do, tomorrow.
>>
>>6070463
I bought bootleg sw revoltech bobba and stormtrooper. Bobba is ok, the plastic is cheaper than the original revo (I've touched/seen only in store), coloring is nice but the joints are low quality.
Stormtrooper had softer plastic and even more low quality plastic in general. The joints on stormtrooper were afwul and shattered in a few days with some shattered on arrival. Might be I got a bad batch, but bobba is actually nice and if I replaced with genuine revoltech joints he would be great since I paid 15 usd for him?
Either way, I know it's not what you are asking for but I got bandai kits and I'm not buying bootlegs since I tried bandai kits as they cost pretty much the same and the quality is not comparable
>>
anyplace I can buy the bootleg Figma Gurlukovich online? How can we have this discussion without ad least a store link.
>>
>>6073390

I am posting a bunch of pics of the figure and box because now I am curious.

>>6075272
22$ on Ebay from a Hong Kong seller so I figured it had to be a bootleg.
But on second thought the box looks like a 100% copy. The black stand has the Revoltech logo and some white printed words on the underside. There was also a bunch of promo stuff included as well.
The joints all make click sounds except for ankles and elbows. They make barely any sound, ankles aren't really staying in position, easy to make the fgure fall over even with the stand when not balanced properly.
Changing the left hand from fist to open hand worked fine but when I wanted to change it again the peg just broke off. The trigger hand does stay on the right arm but when swiveling it it can come off again easily, the peg is a bit too long or thick at the end.
The rifle with the cartridge has paint on the cartridge.

All in all maybe it is a factory reject or an extremely good bootleg.

I bought mine off a toy store in Hong Kong, in person, and the hobby stores in that whole building, none of them sold any bootleg stuff.

That being said, mine doesn't break on any parts. Post more pics, I'll post mine too but I'm not sure where my box is. With figmas, when I was in Thailand it was clear as day which was bootleg and which was authentic. I'd be pretty shocked if revoltech bootlegs are actually close to the actual releases. I'd understand if it was Star Wars revos that got bootlegs but jin roh getting a bootleg... is surprising.

if yours is a bootleg, then I have myself a bootleg too that I've loved for years lol. It hasn't broken on me though and it's one of those toys I constantly pose around on my desk just because of how fun it is for me. Everything seems to check out, except that the detail on yours seem softer, but I think that's more so due to the camera than anything else since mine didn't exactly turn up sharper on photos.

I don't think yours is a bootleg, and if it is, then mine is a bootleg too lol. We'll need someone else who owns this toy to chime in.
>>
>>6076086

ok everything is the same, except the shade on my accessories seem darker and there is no brown paint on the cartridge on the mid-sized gun. Still, I can't tell if that means it's a bootleg or not.
>>
>>6076036
You're an absolute retard. Bootlegs are obviously bootlegs.
Obviously imperfect paint jobs.Shitty joints. Flash, mould seams.
Most obviously, when you first took it out of the box, did it look like it had been assembled properly? Or did it look wonky with limbs twisted around and half pushed in pegs?

Thanks for posting all those pics m9

You did me a scare, friend

I don't think that's a bootleg, mine also has the slips, pamphlets, instructive, came with a bunch of plastic covers on the inside, has there ever been a bootleg that goes to the trouble of 100% replicating all those things?

I've had a bunch of those from Japan and Hong Kong and I never even noticed a single difference.

It was the first time I heard about this fig having bootlegs, plus I did a little research and there are no other claims that point out to this.

You almost made me buy the legacy one you little shit lmao
>>
>>6076740
I really thought it was bootleg with all the chinese sellers charging way less for the figure and when I wanted to check I found a Youtube review of some guy who said he had a bootleg and didn't bother looking any further.

But the wrists and ankles are terrible desu.
>>
>>6076982
I think it's because the figure didn't sell well and it ended up selling at clearance prices, the first time I got a bunch of them it was from a Japanese seller so I very much doubt they were bootlegs as well.

Do you have a the link of that video?

I don't have a problem with the wrists and ankles, maybe the ankles a little since they're ratchet joints, and it's pretty hard to change hands but I haven't broken any of them and I've had like 5 or 6 of these.

Right now I own 4.
>>
>>6076036
Nah, that release just bombed spectacularly due to the goo/stickyness that tends to develop on it, so its frequently found on discount.
>>
>>6077071
That's what I think too but that dude really made me wonder.

No way a bootleg would have pamphlets and manuals and even those finely printed slips right? Plus everything wrapped tidily in plastic covers and bags.

Still want that legacy one though, it's in my backlog but I don't buy it because I only want it for the box.
>>
>>6077038
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0gd3jeLEEI

>>6077071
Does the stickiness and goo develop due to age alone or sunlight/taking it out of the box? Mine doesn't feel like that in the slightest.
>>
>>6076036
As an FYI warning, the Jin-roh figure is about the size of a 3 3/4th Star wars figure.
>>
>>6078005

mine hasn't gotten sticky either, but I do make sure my figure doesn't get hit by sunlight directly. Some figures just do that too in my collection, the jungler bike that came with SIC Amazon got sticky and my Lazengan revoltech also got sticky yet my Jin-Roh doesn't.

Is there a way to prevent it or delay it significantly?
>>
Revoltechs never had bootlegs until recently, within the last couple of years. The first ones that showed up were the Ninja Turtles.
A few years back, Revos were all over eBay from Hong Kong sellers, and they were very cheap. (Six dollar Yotsubas and Danbos, $10 super robots, etc).
So really, if you see an older Revo for a cheap price, you're getting the real deal.
>>
>>6075029
Don't be retarded and go on ebay.
>>
>>6075029
type in Aliexpress.com

or

Ebay.com
search the fig you want
Sort by lowest price+shipping
look for sellers based in China
If none show up lower the max price you search so that only a couple US sellers show up
Now you should have like 5 to 25 US sellers and after those the cheapest chinese sellers show up.
>>
>>6078005
Yeah no that's definitely not a bootleg.

So it arrived today and it's ok. The joint inside the head for the two head halves broke when I took the headplate off to look how the eye was done. I am currently trying to get the rest of the joint out and replace it with another joint from the package. If that doesn't work I will just glue the faceplate onto the back hair part.

I noticed that the tighs have little movement. The big, lower part has a range of movement through a non-revo joint I think, more like a ball in a socket. The upper part that goes inside the crotch only has a little giving to the side, the green straps remove any articulation it could have, is this normal? He can't really move his legs forward or sit.

Hands were a bitch to change out. One of the tiny joints of the hands nearly twisted a peg completely off like the one in the head but the ones I have in there now work well enough.
Only the knees and ankles click and and at the same time make squeaky sounds like Mr. Krabs boots.

Ebay shits overflowing with bootleg snakes

Though seeing the HLJ is on sale ill bite the bullet and get that one.

I actually just sold my venom on ebay. I wasn't a fan of him. The joints didn't look very good to me, and he was a pain in the ass to pose well. The biggest turn off was that changing hands was a massive chore. It felt like it was going to break every single time I did it.

The guy even asked if it was the real deal or a bootleg. It was real, of course, I got it from AmiAmi on release.
>>
>>6097792

Thats basically Revoltech but I feel you.

Anyone remember Solid Snake mini revol? I know for a fact it used to go for $25 now I am seeing places mark it up to fucking $60.

>>
>>6097792
>>6098228
Wanted to get that Snake at first as well but the price and smaller scale put me off with the cartoon style face sealing the decision.

Funnily enough I now watched some reviews and my gripes with the leg articulation has nothing to do with it being a bootleg, it is normal. I understand no what people mean with it poses itself but it is not what I hoped. The figure really needs the arm stand it came with and now I broke another two of the tiniest joints. for the hands, so I will never switch the hands out again unless I get some legit replacement parts.

The watercan also has no part to push out of it and attach the piece that holds the rifle at the hips.
