I just got mine the other day and I can't help but be in complete awe over how amazing the sculpt, paint, and even articulation is on him.

It's like something out of a movie. Or a 1980s TMNT figure that had a ton of little detailed sculpted in, but instead of Playmates non-paint cheapness, they bothered to paint it.

He even has an articulated tongue. That alone makes it the greetest.

... maybe something else is better and i may just be really giddy over my new play thing, but this toy really feels like a movie toy and a toy company finally actually does something that came straight out of the movie.

When was the last time we ever got an articulated tongue?
AND I JUST FOUND OUT IT HAS A RAIL SO THE TONGUE CAN STICK OUT OF ITS MOUTH.

This is a toy of ingenuity and deserves the 2016 TotY.

Also, it's only $15, so everyone should have bought one already.

The Toy Year is not the same as the Calendar Year. Toy Year 2017 begins with December 21st of 2016, and ends with December 20th of 2017.

It has always been thus, and so Christmas hauls always count toward the new year.

It is known.

>>6051900

Aye! This. It's also the reason December 21st is /toy/'s Pre-X-mas and New Year's bash all rolled into one. Been that way since the Revolutionary war, when George Washington and his men, snowed in at a tiny fort in Valley Forge, celebrated X-mas four days early, on account of the fact they hadn't seen a calendar for two months and didn't know better. And while some say Washington knew better, most figure his men needed their spirits lifted anyhow.

'Course, back then /toy/ was a series of scribbles on tobacco paper, passed back and forth between bored and malnourished soldiers of the Continental Army.

>>
>>6048795

Same year actually, the dragon from the Takeya jizai okimono line had a simple sliding rail for the tongue too but no sideways or upwards movement, just back and forth. I think next year's Venom revoltech is going to have an articulated tongue too.

What toy line is this butcher demon thing from? Toys with articulated jaws and tongues are always welcome.
>>
>>6051900
Yeah... No. You're fucking stupid and interjecting a load of bullshit. I've been a regular here since 2009, and have even started a few ToyT threads. Christmas hauls have nothing to do with TotY threads because it's a holistic review of the year.

TotY is anything released between 01-01-16 to 12-31-16. Always had been, always will be. MFC is the standard for finding import release dates, youtube and major news site review dates have been the standard for domestics unless the review explicitly states it's an early sample or the reviewer is known for getting early samples.

The dispute has always been how long you wait before making a TotY thread. EMS shipping timeframe (5 business days max) has been the accepted standard. So the definitive TotY thread will be the second week of January.
>>
>>6052921
Neca is the line. it's called an abomination. specifically this one is called Stitches.

They are undead monsters patched together with the flesh, meat and limbs of a variety of corpses. They aren't very smart so the abominations are typically given crude weaponry and aimed at the direction that people want shit fucked up.
>>
>>6053261
>TotY is anything released between 01-01-16 to 12-31-16. Always had been, always will be.

This.

Seriously, how can people be so fucking dense that they don't understand something as simple as this? It's actually bafling that this is a matter of discussion.

>>

>the definitive TotY thread will be the second week of January.
This is bull.

By the time January hits it's always the least popular TotY thread, because we have always had 2-4 TotY threads before January hits. By January most people are sick of them and no longer care to post.
>>
>>6054071
Since when did threads become a popularity contest and post count mattered? It's a timeline that makes sense, and it's unfortunate if newfags jump the gun because they don't know board culture, but oh well.
>>
toy of the year isn't even some special award that we get to vote on in a single day. it's just a discussion

For all we care, TotY can just be a series of general discussion threads that exist temporarily between the beginning of december to some time in january when nobody gives a shit anymore
>>
>>6054079
Popularity has everything to do with Toy of the Year.
The more people that visit a thread and post their two cents, the more accurate the sampling will be.

So no matter what, the January poll isn't going to be the true TotY , because the sampling is usually half that from the ones in December.
It's always been this way and actually measurable when 4chan started showing how many posters posted.

Articulation is amazing. It can do anything you'd expect the Hardballer to be able to do and then maybe a little bit more (though sometimes you do have to maneuver the skirts out of the way a little bit).

One thing I would say it that the torso and wings on the back do have rotation, but they seemed a little stuck on mine at first so just be careful (the torso you might want to hold onto the backpack to twist it with and make sure the skirts aren't in the way).

Keep telling yourself that so you won't forget about it and you'll avoid posting in the definitive true TotY thread that'll be made by the end of January, that way we won't have to read more retarded comments of yours.
>>
>>6054254
Yep, stale threads are always best when only OP and a few people butthurt that the other more popular TotY threads selected other toys to be TotY participate.
The January threads are usually just people like yourself trying to get in the last word, after everyone else no longer cares.

Pic is last year's Toy of the Year as decided in the more popular December threads, which got a backlash because of how many people submitted it for TotY. I think it got only one submission in the Janaury thread.
>>
>>6054262
>The January threads are usually just people like yourself trying to get in the last word

>>
Anyone who treats ToTY as an official thing take it way too seriously. There are simply way too many different kinds of collectors here to reach a proper consensus. Some people will vote for a superhero figure, other people hate capeshit. Someone will vote for an import toy, others call him a web.
>>
>>6059114
I thought that I'd be buying that during HLJ's holiday sale since they are so fond of marking down prices of recent RD. The spring sale had a bunch of the recent ANIME ones for like 1500JPY+ off.

But then it turns out HLJ is having an anti-sale where they charge you retail and pretend that giving you 300JPY for store credit makes it all worth it.

I'm not a biased Neca collector, in fact I prefer imports, but I am a biased Evil Dead fan. My favorite figures of 2016 were without a doubt this fantastic line. It has it's flaws, but I just can't put them down, the fun value is through the roof. Plus Neca really nailed the likeness to Bruce Campbell

i almost bought that eyeless monster yesterday but it was lacking in a lot of articulation
>>
>>6059365
The monster's articulation does suck, I just don't mind due to him not being agile in the show. He teleports around and mind controls people, hell we never even saw his lower half once so I was fine with the lack in articulation, less breaks on a near perfect sculpt
